Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the strong ties between India and the US, describing himself as a &ldquo;product of the bond&rdquo; shared by the two nations. Nadella made the remarks while addressing over 500 attendees at a special Republic Day reception hosted by the Consulate General of India in Seattle on Sunday at the Bell Harbour Conference Centre.
The event, celebrating India&rsquo;s 76th Republic Day, featured Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson and Nadella as Guests of Honour. Distinguished attendees included US lawmakers, top government officials, and Mayors from ten cities.
Praising the leadership of both countries, Nadella acknowledged their efforts in leveraging technology to improve education, healthcare, public services, and small business productivity. Earlier this month, Nadella met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, expressing enthusiasm for Microsoft's AI-first initiatives in India and its ambitious expansion plans.
Governor Ferguson lauded the Indian-American community for its global contributions, adding that as the 24th Governor of Washington State, he looked forward to strengthening ties with the Consulate General of India in Seattle.
The celebrations also received a special mention in the Washington State Senate. A resolution moved by Senators Manka Dhingra and Vandana Slatter recognized India&rsquo;s Republic Day and the growing friendship between the two countries.
Cultural exhibits such as One District, One Product and the photo display India Through Tim's Eyes showcased India's diversity and heritage. A curated dance performance titled Natyam earned widespread applause.
Seattle honoured India&rsquo;s Republic Day by illuminating iconic landmarks, including the Seattle Great Wheel and Columbia Center, in the hues of the Indian tricolour, reflecting the vibrant India-US partnership.
US lawmakers, including Rep. Suzan DelBene, Rep. Adam Smith, and Rep. Kim Schrier, joined the event to commend India&rsquo;s achievements as the world&rsquo;s largest democracy, underscoring the deep and enduring ties between the two nations. &nbsp;

During the meeting, Chief Minister Reddy expressed his gratitude to Nadella for Microsoft&rsquo;s consistent investments and its expanding business operations in Hyderabad and Telangana. The Chief Minister, along with the state&rsquo;s IT Minister, discussed the state&rsquo;s focus on emerging technologies like AI, Gen AI, and cloud computing, and sought Microsoft&rsquo;s support in building a robust ecosystem. The goal is to establish Hyderabad as a global leader in the technology sector.
Reddy also outlined plans for infrastructure development in the state, which include the Regional Ring Road, radial roads, the Future City initiative, and the creation of new manufacturing clusters. Furthermore, he emphasized the government&rsquo;s efforts to create a skilled workforce through institutions like Young India Skills University.
In response, Satya Nadella reaffirmed Microsoft&rsquo;s commitment to collaborating with the Telangana government on all its initiatives. He commended the Chief Minister&rsquo;s vision for enhancing skills and improving infrastructure, stating that these two factors are key to positioning Hyderabad among the top 50 cities globally for fostering economic growth.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is on a two days visit to India on February 7th and 8th. During his keynote in Mumbai, Nadella emphasised on the potential of AI in driving the economic growth in India.
He also highlighted how popular Indian brands are already reaping the benefits of AI, including Microsoft&rsquo;s own AI tool for organisations and users called Copilot.
&ldquo;You can only talk about tech as a real thing if it is going to have a real impact on the overall growth of an economy. Definitely today this is the highest growth market. You can see the buoyancy of it. The government and all of you have high ambitions of what&rsquo;s going to happen by 2025 and what percentage of that growth is going to be driven by AI&rdquo;, Nadella said.
<h3>Adopting AI</h3>
While talking on the adoption of AI, Nadella drew a parallel between Industrial Revolution and Artificial Intelligence. He mentioned that investment and deploying it cross-sectorally into an economy makes a difference to a country&rsquo;s prospects.
&nbsp;&ldquo;In the United Kingdom, during the height of the Industrial Revolution, they spent 10% of GDP on the railroad system and the rest is history. When you have a new general-purpose technology, how intensely you invest and deploy cross-sectorally inside an economy, I think, makes a difference to a country&rsquo;s prospects going forward.&rdquo;
His excitement over being at the early stages of this adoption cycle while scaling it underscore the potential of AI in transforming economies and the importance of investing in this technology for future growth.
<h3>AI training in India</h3>
He further announced that the company will train more than two million people in India in generative AI skills, to address talent shortage in the AI era.&nbsp;
"We are happy to play our role in it. But it's not just the skills but also the jobs that will get created with AI," Nadella told the gathering.

Nadella asked ChatGPT to come up with the most popular south Indian tiffin items in the future and it came up with the usual suspects - Idli, Dosa and vada.
But among the options was biriyani and that seems to have left a bad taste in Nadella's mouth.

He told ChatGPT that as a Hyderabadi, the software cannot insult his intelligence by calling Biriyani a South Indian 'tiffin.' And according to Nadella, the software said, "I am sorry! "
And to keep the dialogue going after this, Nadella asked ChatGPT to create a play between Idli and Dosa over who was better. To add literature to the batter, Nadella asked the software to make the dialogue, a part of a Shakespearean play! Nadella was speaking at the Future Ready Technology Summit in Bengaluru on Wednesday and decided to introduce the crowd to a light-hearted ChatGPT (popular AI-enabled software) conversation before getting into his presentation about the cutting-edge AI and Cloud innovation taking place in India.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, who is on a four-day visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and pledged the company's support in helping the country realise the Digital India vision.
The Microsoft top honcho described his meeting with the PM as "insightful", and lauded the government's deep focus on sustainable and inclusive economic growth driven by digital transformation.
"It's inspiring to see the government's deep focus on sustainable and inclusive economic growth led by digital transformation and we're looking forward to helping India realize the Digital India vision and be a light for the world," Nadella tweeted on Thursday.

Nadella, currently on day three of a multi-city tour of the country, has been on marathon meetings with customers, startups, developers, educators and students, as well as top government leaders.
Nadella had called on External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday, and issues relating to governance and security in the digital domain had come up for discussion.
Nadella also met Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who invited him to invest in India's expanding innovation and startup ecosystem.

As part of the Microsoft's Tech for Good and Education showcase in Delhi on Wednesday, Nadella did a walk through, interacting with teachers, students and professionals who are making a difference in the society, by leveraging various Microsoft programs, initiatives and tools.

 Arvind Krishna - IBM 
Born in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Arvind Krishna studied electrical engineering from IIT Kanpur, before earning a PhD in the same from the University of Illinois in the US. He joined IBM in 1990 at IBM Research, where he was appointed senior vice president in 2015. He later became senior vice president of IBM&rsquo;s cloud and cognitive software division. Arvind Krishna led the building and expansion of new markets for IBM like AI, cloud, quantum computing, and blockchain. He was appointed as CEO of IBM in January 2020.
 Shantanu Narayen - Adobe
Shantanu Narayen grew up in Hyderabad, and attended Osmania University for his bachelor&rsquo;s degree in electronics and communication engineering. He further went on to study computer science at the Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and received an MBA from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley. After working at Apple in senior managements positions, Narayen joined Adobe in 1998 as senior vice-president of worldwide product development. In 2005, he was appointed president and CEO, a position he has held since. As CEO, Narayen has overseen the transformation of the company&rsquo;s media creation suite, including Photoshop and Premiere Pro, from desktop to cloud-based apps.
