A tragic accident on Ferozepur Highway in Saharanpur claimed the lives of a mother and her son. Three family members were injured when the driver fell asleep at the wheel. Police are investigating the incident.

In a tragic road accident in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a mother and son died after their car crashed. The driver fell asleep at the wheel.

A woman and her son died while three other family members sustained serious injuries in a car accident in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, police said on Monday.
The accident happened around midnight on Sunday when Prince (29) who was driving fell asleep at the wheel near Sukhdev Dhaba on Ferozepur Highway. The car went out of control and fell into a ditch on the side of the road killing Prince and his mother, Santosh Kashyap (53).
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain said a family of five from Ambala Cantt was returning from Haridwar in a car.
Santosh Kashyap (53) and her son Prince died on the spot while their family members Shivam, Shanu and Daksh were seriously injured, he said.
Jain said that as soon as they received information about the accident, police reached the spot and immediately took all the injured to the primary health centre in an ambulance. The injured are undergoing treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, police said.

Sports officer Animesh Saxena has been suspended by the State Government due to unhygienic facilities provided to the UP U-17 girls Kabaddi team.

UP Kabaddi Players Served Food In Toilet : In a video that is doing the rounds on social media, UP state level Kabaddi players had their food served to them in the toilet. The video was reportedly shot by the players themselves on September 16 and shows players serving rice and vegetables to themselves in a toilet. The players had come for the U-17 State level Kabaddi tournament.
The rest of the food was lying on the ground on a piece of paper. Saharanpur Sports Officer Animesh Saxena has been suspended by the State government and the latter also gave a statement regarding the situation.

"There were complaints of bad arrangements. The district sports officer has been suspended. I have ordered an enquiry and the concerned person will submit a report in three days. We will take appropriate action," said Akhilesh Singh, District Magistrate, Saharanpur.
Suspended Animesh Saxena had also given his clarification earlier where he said "The food was kept in the changing room next to the swimming pool. Some construction work is being done in the stadium and there was no other place to keep the food because of rain"

Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA shared a video on Twitter which showed a group of men being thrashed mercilessly by police in what appears a police station. The caption MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi wrote said 'return gift for rioters'.
In the video, the police are seen hitting the men with sticks while they try to block the blows and beg to be spared. 
The incident purportedly took place two days ago in a police station in Saharanpur where protests had flared up demanding arrest of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
The video shared by Tripathi and its accompanying captions have garnered severe criticism online. 
Former UP Chief Minister Akilesh Yadav too slammed the comments saying such incidents damage people's faith in the justice system. 
The Samajwadi Party chief added that questions should be raised about such police stations, highlighting that UP stands at the first position in custodial deaths, human rights violations and the abuse faced by Dalits.

One day after violent clashes erupted across different cities of Uttar Pradesh over the controversial remarks of now-sacked BJP functionaries on Prophet Mohammad, Saharanpur police took action against the accused. 
The police on Saturday reached the residences of two accused along with a team of the local civic body to raze parts of their house claiming illegal constructions. 
The action was taken by a joint team of Saharanpur administration including development authority, magistracy, revenue team, municipal corporation and police on 'illegal properties of accused in yesterday's incident, Saharanpur SSP Akash Tomar told news agency ANI.
He added that 64 people have been arrested and more than 200 identified in connection with the clashes.
Uttar Pradesh police arrested 237 people from various districts in the state in connection with Friday's violence with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warning of "strictest" action against those attempting to vitiate the atmosphere.

PTI, New Delhi: The CBI Monday conducted searches at eight locations after booking Delhi-based dairy products company Kwality Ltd. and its directors for allegedly cheating a Bank of India-led consortium, causing a loss of over Rs 1,400 crore, officials said.
The CBI has registered the case against Kwality Ltd and its directors Sanjay Dhingra, Siddhant Gupta, Arun Srivastava besides other unidentified persons, they said.
"It was alleged in the complaint that the said accused had cheated the Bank of India-led consortium comprising BOI (lead bank), Canara Bank, BoB, Andhra Bank, Corporation Bank, IDBI, Central Bank of India, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Syndicate Bank to the tune of Rs.1400.62 core (approx.)," CBI spokesperson RK Gaur said.
They allegedly cheated the banks by way of &ldquo;diversion of bank funds, sham transactions with related parties, fabricated documents/receipts, falsified books of accounts&rdquo; and created false assets and liabilities etc, Gaur said.
The searches were conducted Monday at eight locations including at Delhi, Saharanpur, Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh), Ajmer (Rajasthan), Palwal (Haryana) etc. on the premises of the private company and other accused.&nbsp;
