The Hindu reported that the man, identified as Hemil Ashvinbhai Mangukiya, was hired as a security helper by the Russian Army in December 2023 and was deployed in the war zone with Ukraine. He was subsequently killed in a Ukrainian airstrike targeting the Russian Army unit in Donetsk.
Ashvinbhai Mangukiya, father of the deceased, told The Hindu that he spoke to Hemil a day before his death. However, he refused to provide details on the nature of his work in Russia.&nbsp;
Reports suggest, more than 100 Indian citizens have been hired by the Russian Army over the past year, and that at least three of them were forced to fight along with the Russian forces.
23-year-old Sameer Ahmad from Karnataka, who also works as a helper, told the Hindu that Hemil died after he was struck by a missile while he was at a shooting practice.&nbsp;
Sameer along with another Indian was digging a trench 150 meters away when they heard some noise. They hid in a trench along with Russian soldiers as the missile struck.&nbsp;
Sameer said he found Hemil dead when he got out of the trench, and that he was left to take care of the body on his own.
Indian authorities on Friday said they have contacted the Russian authorities for the early discharge of Indians working as support staff in the Russian army.&nbsp;

The group, which began in 2018 as an anti-Brexit group, said it had poured 170 litres of yellow paint on the eastbound carriageway and a similar amount of blue paint on the westbound side, with passing traffic then spreading the colours along the road.
"At 08:45 (local time) today officers attended Kensington Palace Gardens, where paint had been thrown on the highway. Four people, three males and one female, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and obstructing the highway. They remain in custody," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Thursday.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will use a dummy with the same weight and height as Antov to recreate the circumstances in which he died. Experts will try to ascertain the nature of the incident and injury marks on Antov's body, and cross-check with the autopsy report.
Investigators also continued to interrogate the hotel staffers, while the seized items will be sent for forensic examination.
The local police, which conducted the autopsy, did not preserve the viscera samples for future investigation. The CID has collected some remnants of Antov's body from the crematorium.

Russian nationals death: CID seizes burnt remnants from crematorium

The CID of Odisha Police seized burnt remnants of two Russian nationals including a lawmaker from the cremation ground at Rayagada for forensic examination as part of its probe into the mystery over the twin deaths of the foreigners.
The CID which is probing the deaths of Vladimir Bidenov (61) and Pavel Antov (65), a lawmaker in Russia, was also planning to take the help of Interpol as the investigation may require interrogation and examination of certain people in Russia, an official said on Saturday.
"We are yet to take a final decision in this regard," the official added.
A senior official involved in the investigation of the case said "seizure of burnt remnants of the deceased could be useful for future investigation in the case." Odisha&rsquo;s premier investigating agency on Saturday also completed recording the statement of two fellow tourists of the deceased Russians.
"Recording of the statement of accompanying Russian couple namely Turov Mikhail and Pane Senko Natalia with the assistance of interpreter and of tourist guide Jitendra Singh completed with audio-video recording of the whole process," a statement issued by the CID said.

Of the four Russians visiting Odisha&rsquo;s Rayagada district, Bidenov died on December 22 while Antov succumbed to a fall from height on December 24. The local police based on the permission given by the deceased persons family members and the Russian Consulate, Kolkata cremated both the bodies.
While police preserved the viscera of Bidenov, the same was not done in the case of Antov.
A team of CID sleuths also thoroughly checked the two rooms of the hotel where the deceased persons were staying, the official said, adding that some articles were also seized from the rooms.
The investigating agency has also collected the list of guests who visited the hotel at Rayagada from December 21 to December 27. "The address and other details of guests are obtained for verification," the official said.
The CID also obtained the list of hotel staff and they are being examined by the team, the official added.

Dr Lalmohan Routrai, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Rayagada told PTI that the post-mortem of Vladimir Bidenov, 61, was conducted at the District Headquarters Hospital on December, 24 and of Pavel Antov, 65, on December 26. The viscera of Bidenov has been preserved while that of Antov has not been preserved, the CDMO said.
Routrai said the post mortem reports have already been submitted to police. The viscera will be sent to forensic laboratory in Bhubaneswar.
The post-mortem report of Pavel stated that "he sustained a severe internal injury after falling from the third floor of the hotel," police said, adding that the post-mortem report of Bidenov stated that "he died of a heart attack".
Antov, a sausage tycoon-turned politician who had last June reportedly posted an anti-Ukraine war message on social media only to withdraw it later blaming the outburst on "technical error", had reportedly come to Rayagada along with Bidenov and two other friends on tourist visa to celebrate his 66th birthday, a police officer said.

Meanwhile, the other two co-travellers, Pansasenko Natalia (44) and Turov Mikhail (64) along with the tour guide arrived at the Crime Branch headquarters in Cuttack for questioning. Both of them have been asked not to leave the state.
All of them were questioned at the Bhubaneswar Crime Branch office on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Odisha DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal on Tuesday ordered a CID probe into the "unnatural" death of two Russian nationals at the same hotel in Rayagada district.
Antov allegedly jumped off from the third floor of the hotel. On being informed, by the hotel staff, his guide Jitendra Singh rushed him to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in an ambulance. However, Antov was declared dead on arrival, sources said earlier.
Meanwhile, the CID-Crime Branch team is scheduled to visit Rayagada on Wednesday to probe further into the mysterious death of the two Russian nationals on the direction of the Director General of Police.
Besides, DIG (South Western Range) Rajesh Pandit inspected the hotel in Rayagada where the Russian nationals were staying.

Local emergency officials said at least two residents were killed and 19 others were hospitalized with injuries, four of them in grave condition. The authorities reserved emergency rooms at local hospitals and scrambled medical aircraft. At least 17 apartments were affected by the fire, and about 100 residents were evacuated.
