The 47-year-old DRDO scientist scientist Bharat Bhushan Kataria, who police say planted a bomb inside Rohini court to kill his neighbour, allegedly learnt how to make a bomb online, including on YouTube.
The arrested scientist allegedly ordered several devices from e-commerce websites and ammonium nitrate from a local shop. He spent around Rs 5,000.
Getting fined for not appearing before court; his wife being detected with cancer; having to pay Rs 50,000 rent; and the possibility of facing criminal charges — these are some of the key factors that, police believe, drove the DRDO scientist over the edge.
Police found that Kataria’s neighbour had filed a criminal case against him and during the hearings on November 1, the court fined him Rs 1,000 for “unnecessary adjournment”.
Police said that Kataria was not getting leave from his office to attend the court hearings.         
Kataria also faced a legal suit by his neighbour over installing a water tank. He had moved to live in an apartment on rent and had recently discovered that his wife had cancer.

The police said that the scientist had allegedly planted a tiffin bomb to kill a lawyer over legal issues. They also said that scientist had confessed to making to bomb himself and planting it in courtroom number 102. 
According to the police, the man was arrested based on CCTV footage and dump data. In one CCTV footage he was seen with a briefcase and in another CCTV footage he was seen without it.

According to the police, the explosion took place in a laptop bag inside the court premises.
One person was reportedly injured on the blast and has been admitted to a hospital.
Court proceedings were suspended after the explosion and police cordoned off the premises. An NSG team was also rushed to the spot for inspection.
The incident comes months after jailed gangster Jitendra Gogi was shot dead by two men, who were dressed as lawyers, inside a Rohini courtroom on September 24. The assailants were shot dead by the police in retaliatory fire killing.
