Delhi&nbsp;Capitals' head coach and former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has confirmed that he was approached by some senior members of the BCCI&nbsp;to become the head coach of Team India. Ponting&nbsp;in a chat with the Great Cricketer podcast confirmed that he was approached during the final stages of IPL&nbsp;2021 in the UAE. The senior board officials were more than keen to make it happen but Ponting&nbsp;had other plans.&nbsp;
The 46-year-old had to politely turn down the offer due to family&nbsp;commitments as he has 2 young kids and the role would require him to travel for 300+ days a year. Ponting&nbsp;explained that he would love to coach India but short-term coaching commitments, like the one he has with the DC, is something that he enjoys and can afford right now.&nbsp;
On being asked about coaching Australia, Ponting&nbsp;had the same answer that he cannot see himself committing to travel 300 days a year owing to the busy national cricket calendar.&nbsp;
