<p>Actor Rhea Chakraborty recalled how she was labelled a &lsquo;witch&rsquo; after being accused of abetting Sushant Singh Rajput&rsquo;s suicide by his family.</p>
<p>At the India Today Conclave 2023 in Mumbai on October 5, Rhea was asked if being called a witch affected her.</p>
<p>She said: &lsquo;I kind of like the name &lsquo;chudail&rsquo; (witch). It is interesting. Back in the day who was a witch? A witch was a woman who did not subscribe to the patriarchal society or her own opinion that was against the popular opinion of men and the patriarchal society. Maybe I am that person, maybe I am a chudail. Maybe I know how to do black magic.&rsquo;</p>
<p>After Sushant Singh Rajput&rsquo;s death, Rhea became the subject of intense trolling and media scrutiny, which many felt was a &lsquo;witch-hunt&rsquo;.</p>
<p>After Rajput&rsquo;s demise, Chakraborty said she &lsquo;doused&rsquo; herself in therapy.</p>
<p>Speaking on mental health, Rhea said, &lsquo;The truth is that mental health is not understood in this country at all. We are taking strides, and I am happy that the young people are now talking about it. India is moving forward, but if someone is famous and has mental health conditions, they don't understand it. They are like, 'he has fame, he has success. Why is he depressed?'</p>
<p>&lsquo;The fact of the matter is that people are working their entire lives, struggling for what? Two things: fame and money. So, when they have somebody who has both, they are like 'he is depressed toh main kya kar raha/rahi hoon?' (What am I doing? That is what doesn't sit well with people). Mental health is misunderstood, because of which it's tough for people to digest the fact that someone who is rich and famous could be mentally affected or depressed,&rsquo; she added.</p>
<p>A case of alleged abetment to suicide was registered against Chakraborty by Sushant Singh Rajput&rsquo;s parents and a parallel probe into alleged drug procurement by her also began.</p>
<p>Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in September 2020 in relation to the case and was later shifted to the Byculla jail where she spent almost six weeks. She is currently out on bail and the matter is sub judice at the Bombay High Court.</p>

The Narcotics Control Bureau in its draft charges filed in the drug case linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death has claimed actor Rhea Chakraborty received multiple deliveries of ganja from the co-accused, including her brother Showik, and these were handed over to Rajput.
The Central anti-drug agency had filed the draft charges last month in the Special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Court against 35 accused, the details of which were made available on Tuesday.
As per the draft charges, all the accused entered into criminal conspiracy between March 2020 and December that year with each other or in groups to procure, purchase, sell and distribute drugs in "high society and Bollywood".
It also said the accused had financed drug trafficking and consumed ganja, charas, cocaine and other narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances without valid licence, permit or authorization within the Mumbai Metropolitan region.
Therefore, they have been charged under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, including sections 27 and 27 A (financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders) 28 (punishment for attempts to commit offences), 29 (whoever abets, or is a party to a criminal conspiracy), as per the draft charges.
The draft charges maintained that "accused number 10 Rhea Chakroborty received many deliveries of ganja from accused Samuel Miranda, Showik, Dipesh Sawant and others and handed over those deliveries to the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput".
She made payments for those deliveries at the instance of Showik and the late actor between March 2020 and September that year, it added.
As per the draft charges, Rhea's brother Showik was in regular touch with drug peddlers and had received many deliveries from co-accused after placing orders of ganja and hashish/charas. These deliveries were handed over to Rajput.
The filing of draft charges sets the tone for the framing of charges, following which the trial begins. However, before framing of charges, the court will have to first decide on the discharge pleas of the accused.
Until now, four persons, including Kshitij Prasad, former executive producer of Dharmatic Entertainment, have filed for discharge in the case.
Prasad, in his plea filed through advocate Nikhil Maneshinde, claimed he is innocent and that there was no prima facie material to sustain the charges against him. The applicant has been needlessly roped into the present proceedings in a mala fide manner by the NCB. Prasad's plea added.
Special Judge V G Raghuwanshi, hearing cases pertaining to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, has posted the matter for hearing on July 27.
Chakraborty was arrested in the case in September 2020 and was granted bail by the Bombay High Court a month later.
Besides Rhea, her brother Showik Chakraborty and several others are also arraigned as accused in the case, with most of them currently out on bail.

The Narcotics&nbsp;Control Bureau&nbsp;is expected to file a charge sheet in the drug probe related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Reports claim&nbsp;NCB&nbsp;is in the process of assembling evidence and the chargesheet&nbsp;runs&nbsp;into more than 70,000 pages which include statements, call records, WhatsApp chats of all those accused.
Reports say the&nbsp;NCB&nbsp;chargesheet&nbsp;will have the names of 30 accused including actor and Sushant's former girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.
In August 2020,&nbsp;NCB&nbsp;registered a case&nbsp;related to the drug nexus in connection after the death of Sushant&nbsp;Singh&nbsp;Rajput.

The Mumbai Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday filed its chargesheet in the alleged drug probe related to the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.<br /><br />A total of 33 people have been named in the chargesheet. Among them are Sushant's former girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty&nbsp;and her brother Showik&nbsp;Chakraborty.<br /><br />Sushant's former manager Samuel Miranda and household help Dipesh Sawant have also been named.<br /><br />Reports citing NCB sources say, the chargesheet gives details on how various drugs including synthetic narcotic substances were procured at the highest level and then distributed.<br /><br />A formal case was registered on August 26, 2020 by the NCB. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence on June 14, 2020.
