Published in the journal Plants, the study conducted on mice over a period of three years found several other medicinal&nbsp;benefits of figs such as curing skin diseases and wound infections.

It was found that the wild fruit contains a compound that blocks an enzyme&nbsp;which is also blocked by synthetic pain relievers like&nbsp;Diclofenac.&nbsp;
The researchers say the&nbsp;fruit has traditionally been used for curing backaches in rural areas&nbsp;but there has been no study exploring its analgesic effects.&nbsp;
Looking ahead, the international team of researchers plans to conduct human trials on the fruit for other therapeutic potentials to establish medicinal plants&nbsp;as an alternative source of therapy.&nbsp;

A study conducted by American Heart Association reveals that consuming more plant-based nutritious&nbsp;food is healthy for your heart.

A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association reveals that eating more plant-based food is healthy for the heart. Researchers deduced that young adults and postmenopausal women had fewer chances of heart attacks and were less likely to develop cardiovascular disease when they consumed more vegetarian food.
4,946 adults were enrolled in the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults study to examine the effect of a plant based diet. Participants were 18 to 30 years old at the time of enrollment and they were studied for over 20 years to understand the long term effects of the diet pattern. During the course of the study, eight follow up exams were conducted that included lab tests, physical measurements, medical histories and assessment of lifestyle factors.

As per the results, participants&nbsp;who consumed plant-based meals were at the top of the quality score chart and were 52% less likely to develop cardiovascular diseases.&nbsp;Moreover, the participants&nbsp;who changed their diet pattern in between the course of the study were also lesser likely to develop&nbsp;any heart ailments than the ones who stuck to their meat-based diets.
The overall healthy dietary pattern recommended by the American Heart Association Diet team includes a variety of low fat and unsaturated fruits and vegetables (like apples, pears, carrots and broccoli), whole grains, low-fat dairy products, nuts and legumes and non-tropical vegetable oils. But along with these, it also advises&nbsp;limited consumption of saturated fat, transfat, sodium, red meat, sweets and sugary drinks.

Published in the journal Lancet, the study found that&nbsp;at least one of the infection&rsquo;s&nbsp;symptoms,&nbsp;such as&nbsp;fatigue, muscle weakness or shortness of breath, troubled patients up to&nbsp;a&nbsp;year after being discharged from the hospital.

The researchers noted that since there is no proven treatment or guidance for the rehabilitation of patients,&nbsp;long Covid syndrome affects people's ability to resume normal life and their capacity to work. In fact, a complete recovery from Covid-19 may take more than 12 months for many.&nbsp;
The study assessed&nbsp;around&nbsp;1,300 people hospitalised for Covid-19 between January and May 2020 in&nbsp;China's Wuhan, the epicentre of the disease.&nbsp;The proportion of patients with at least one symptom decreased from 68% at 6 months to 49% at 12 months.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The same study also&nbsp;observed that&nbsp;respiratory discomfort increased from 26 per cent of patients after six months to 30 per cent after 12 months.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The researchers also recognized that 'Long Covid' is a modern challenge, so there is a need for better care&nbsp;and&nbsp;long term&nbsp;support of patients so that they can recover from the symptoms and return to a normal life.
