The search operation for missing persons continues in the disaster-hit Dharali-Harsil region of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. So far, authorities have successfully rescued 1,308 individuals. The district administration has issued a list identifying 68 people still unaccounted for, including 25 of Nepali origin.
As the weather improved earlier today, relief teams airlifted supplies, including food and other essentials, from the Matli helipad to those in need. Concurrently, teams from the Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam and the Irrigation Department are working to manually drain the lake formed on the Bhagirathi River near Harsil helipad due to the disaster. Efforts are being intensified to restore essential services and rebuild infrastructure in the region.

Fifty-nine tourists were brought back to Gangtok from the rain-ravaged north Sikkim on Thursday morning as the rescue operations resumed after the weather cleared, officials said.
They were among the 109 tourists stranded in north Sikkim's Lachung for nearly a week.
Two MI-17V5 helicopters left for Chaten in north Sikkim from Pakyong airport near state capital Gangtok in the early morning after the weather cleared. While 39 tourists returned on one copter, 20 returned on another, officials said.
Among those rescued were two foreigners, they said.
Sikkim Nationalised Transport (SNT) has deployed buses to help these rescued tourists reach Siliguri in West Bengal.
An additional helicopter has been kept on standby at Pakyong airport for those who want to travel to Bagdogra near Siliguri by air.
The two helicopters flew to Chaten with personnel from the NDRF and Power Department, and engineers of Airtel, who would work in the region for restoring essential services, they said.
These 109 tourists were brought to Chaten for air evacuation, they added.
The tourists were accommodated in hotels and at the Chaten military camp, an officer said.
Helicopter sorties from the Pakyong airport were suspended on Wednesday due to bad weather in north Sikkim, delaying evacuations.
On Sunday, three Army personnel were killed and six soldiers went missing after landslides hit a military camp at Chaten. Several others were also injured.
The search operations for the six missing personnel have been hampered by bad weather conditions, unstable ground, and the challenging high-altitude terrain, an official said.
The ongoing relief operations in north Sikkim faced a critical setback after two key bridges over the Taran Chu river, situated between Munshithang and Chaten, were washed away by incessant rains, severing motorable access to Chaten from Lachen.
Three days ago, 1,678 tourists were rescued from Lachung and Chungthang, while 33 others, including two US nationals, were successfully airlifted before the sorties were suspended on Wednesday.

An American researcher was trapped for a week in a cave after suddenly falling sick

Rescuers pulled an American researcher out of a Turkish cave more than a week after he became seriously ill 1,000 metres (more than 3,000 feet) below its entrance, the Speleological Federation of Turkiye said.
Teams from across Europe had rushed to Morca cave in southern Turkiye's Taurus Mountains to aid Mark Dickey, a 40-year-old experienced caver who became seriously ill on September 2 with stomach bleeding. He was on an expedition to map the cave, which is the country's third deepest.
Dickey was too frail to climb out himself, so rescuers carried him with the help of a stretcher, making frequent stops at temporary camps set up along the way.
&ldquo;Mark Dickey is out of the Morca cave," said a statement by the speleological federation. It said that Dickey was removed from the last exit of the cave at 12:37 a.m. local time on Tuesday, or 9:37 p.m. GMT on Monday.
"He is fine and is being tended to by an emergency medical worker in the encampment above,&rdquo; the statement said.
Mark's parents. Debbie and Andy Dickey, thanked the international caving community, doctors and rescuers, and the Turkish government for helping rescue their son.
&ldquo;The fact that our son, Mark Dickey, has been moved out of Morca Cave in stable condition is indescribably relieving and fills us with incredible joy,&rdquo; they said in a statement.
The American was first treated inside the cave by a Hungarian doctor who went down the cave on September 3. Doctors and rescuers then took turns caring for him. The cause of Dickey's illness was not clear.
The biggest challenges for the rescuers were the steep vertical sections and navigating through mud and water at low temperatures in the horizontal sections. There was also the psychological toll of staying inside a dark, damp cave for extended periods of time.
Around 190 experts from Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Turkiye took part in the rescue, including doctors, paramedics and experienced cavers. Teams comprised of a doctor and three to four other rescuers took turns staying by his side at all times.
The rescue began on Saturday after doctors, who administered IV fluids and blood, determined that Dickey could make the arduous ascent.
Before the evacuation could begin, rescuers first had to widen some of the cave's narrow passages, install ropes to pull him up vertical shafts on a stretcher and set up temporary camps along the way.
Dickey, who is from Croton-on-Hudson, New York, is a well-known cave researcher and a cave rescuer himself who had participated in many international expeditions.
He and several other people on the expedition were mapping the 1,276-metre (4,186-foot) deep Morca cave system for the Anatolian Speleology Group Association. Dickey became ill on September 2, but it took until the next morning to notify people above ground.
Turkish authorities made a video message available that showed Dickey standing and moving around on Thursday. While alert and talking, he said he was not &ldquo;healed on the inside&rdquo; and needed a lot of help to get out of the cave.
After his rescue, the European Cave Rescue Association said Dickey would be transferred to hospital following a medical assessment.
It said that many cave rescuers remained in the cave to remove rope and rescue equipment used during the operation.
The association expressed its "huge gratitude to the many cave rescuers from seven different countries who contributed to the success of this cave rescue operation&rdquo;.&nbsp;
