Hyderabad-based drugmaker Dr Reddy&rsquo;s Laboratories has entered into an agreement to help conduct final-stage human trials of Russia&rsquo;s Sputnik V&nbsp;Covid-19&nbsp;vaccine in India. Once regulatory clearances are obtained, the firm will also begin to distribute up to 100 million doses for 'mass vaccination' in the country.&nbsp;This is the first concrete development on the Sputnik V front since India confirmed it was in discussions to take forward the testing and manufacture of the vaccine candidate that Russia cleared for public use last month.

223 under detention in J&K, none under house arrest: Govt in LS

The government has told the Parliament that till&nbsp;September 11,&nbsp;223 people are under detention and not a single&nbsp;person is under house arrest in the Union territory of Jammu&nbsp;and Kashmir.

Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said the government of Jammu and Kashmir has reported, that after the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year various measures were taken to maintain public order which included preventive detention of certain persons.&nbsp;
In a written reply to a question in the Lok&nbsp;Sabha, Reddy&nbsp;said, as on September 11, 223 people are under detention and not a single&nbsp;person is under house arrest in the Union territory.
Reddy also said after the bifurcation of the erstwhile state, the number of terrorist incidents have reduced significantly.&nbsp;The home ministry said as many as 176 infiltration attempts were made by terrorists between August 2019 and July 2020. Around 111 infiltration attempts were successful.

The Y-plus security cover to actress Kangana Ranaut has been provided after a request from her father to the Himachal government, which in turn forwarded it to the Centre, Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said on Friday. According to her father, the actress was responding to social issues which caused "heartburn" to some people in Maharashtra, the minister told reporters. Kangana's father met the CM and stated that she was being harassed and based on his request, the Himachal govt approached the Centre. The Minister, however, did not clarify who is going to foot the bills for the security - the state government or the actress herself.

The Himachal Pradesh Government had asked (for security for her). Kangana Ranaut's father wrote a letter to the Chief Minister of Himachal. He had also met the CM and submitted a memorandum that his daughter was being subjected to harassment... based on his request, the Himachal Chief Minister informed the centre about the situation, Mr Reddy said.
However, when asked, the Minister did not clarify who is going to foot the bills for the security - the state government or the actress herself.
The Bollywood actor was given Y-plus category security and is protected by about 10 armed commandos round-the-clock after she and some of the Maharashtra politicians indulged in a bitter war of words over the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June.
