Active cases now stand at 4,03,840, according to data released by the ministry. The national Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.38%. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to over 3 million. 
The total number of vaccine doses administered so far has reached 44.19 crore. The Centre has said more than 2.18 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with states, Union Territories and private hospitals for inoculation.

The Union Health Ministry on Monday said the surge in Covid-19 cases in some states including Delhi and Madhya Pradesh have shown early signs of plateauing in daily new infection cases.
During a press briefing over Covid-19 situation in the country, the Health Ministry said that 12 states are cause for concern as they have more than 1 lakh active cases.
The govt added that nearly 22 states have Covid&nbsp;positivity&nbsp;rates of over 15% and some&nbsp;states are showing upward trends as well, adding that&nbsp;Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Arunachal, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal must step up precautionary measures.
Overall, the govt said there has been a positive approach in recoveries. On May 2, the recovery rate was at 78% and on May 3 it climbed up to almost 82%.
