In a major development, a prominent terrorist working against India was shot dead in Pakistan on 20 February 2023.
Terror group Hizbul Mujahideen commander Bashir Ahmad Pir alias Imtiyaz Alam was fatally shot around five months after he was designated a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) by the Indian government.
Pir was standing outside a shop in Rawalpindi when assailants opened fire at him, according to reports.
Pir was allegedly in-charge of sending terror recruits into Kashmir by identifying infiltration routes and providing logistical support. He hailed from the Babarpora area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

The proposed legislation states that anyone who ridicules or scandalises the Army or judiciary will face a prison sentence of upto 5 years, or a fine of Rs 1 million, or both.

In a fresh crackdown on freedom of speech in Pakistan, the Shehbaz Sharif government has reportedly prepared a bill to curb criticism of the military and the judiciary.
The proposed legislation states that anyone who ridicules or scandalises the Army or judiciary through any medium will face a prison sentence of upto 5 years, or a fine of Rs 1 million, or both. Further, the accused can be arrested without a warrant, and the offence will be non-bailable and non-compoundable.
The cabinet summary states that recently the country has witnessed a spate of scandalous, derogatory and vicious attacks on certain institutions of the state, including the judiciary and armed forces, according to news outlet Dawn, as reported by PTI.
It adds that it is well-known that a deliberate cyber campaign has been launched by certain wings for self-serving motives with the objective of inciting and nurturing hatred against important state institutions and their officials, the report said.
It also states that such attacks are focused on undermining the integrity, stability and independence of the country&rsquo;s state institutions. The summary says that judicial and army officials do not have the opportunity to step forward and negate scandalous, derogatory remarks while appearing in the media.

The visitors, who managed to pick just 4 of those 14 wickets in the entire test, slammed the flat track provided to them. Skipper Pat Cummins claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board made an effort to try and nullify their pace bowling by providing a flat track.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi also joined the debate and said that the bottom line was that Pakistan shouldn't have lost. 'But in the next two Tests, they will have to make good pitches. You have to take advantage of your home series, or else when you go to Australia, you're going to struggle', added Afridi.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board doesn't think that the ICC will rate the Rawalpindi pitch as poor. A PCB source said that the ICC takes notice when a pitch is deemed dangerous and unfit for Test cricket. 
According to ICC guidelines, a pitch is considered “poor” if it deprives the bowlers of a fair contest between bat and ball.

PCB shifts venue for Zimbabwe T20I series due to poor air quality 

Citing poor air quality, Pakistan Cricket Board shifts venue for the 3-match T20i series against Zimbabwe

The 3-match T20I series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will now take place in Rawalpindi&nbsp;instead of Lahore, announced the Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday. The matches that were scheduled to take place at Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore from November 7 to 10th have been shifted due to the deteriorating air quality in Lahore. Wasim&nbsp;Khan, PCB&nbsp;CEO&nbsp;said that the early onset of hazardous pollution and subsequent poor air quality meant that the risk to keep matches in Lahore at this stage was too great.&nbsp;

Player approached by bookie during Pakistan's T20 league

PCB's anti-corruption Unit carried out its own probe and unearthed some sensitive information.

The Pakistan Cricket Board revealed on Thursday that a suspected bookmaker approached a player during their ongoing domestic T20 tournament, the National T20 Cup. The player straight away reported the approach, following which&nbsp;the PCB anti-corruption Unit carried out its own probe and unearthed some sensitive information, which has been forwarded to the Federal Investigation Agency. Though the anti-corruption unit didn't share any specifics of the approach, but said that&nbsp;PCB will keep the International Cricket Council abreast of the progress in investigations. The National T20 Cup is currently underway in&nbsp;Rawalpindi.
