Senior BJP leader and Kalkaji candidate Ramesh Bidhuri has stirred controversy with his remarks targeting Delhi Chief Minister Atishi during an election rally. In his speech, Bidhuri accused Atishi of neglecting public interaction over the past four years, only to become active during the election season. He went on to liken her campaign efforts to a "hirni" (deer) wandering aimlessly.
"Dilli ki janta nark bhog rahi hai galiyon mei... galiyon ki halat dekhiye... Kabhi Atishi nahi gayi milne logon se. Lekin ab chunaav ke samay jaise jungle mei hirni bhaagti hai vaise Atishi Dilli ki sadko pr hirni jaise ghoom rahi hain (The people of Delhi are suffering due to the poor condition of streets. Atishi never met the public before, but now, during elections, she is roaming the streets like a deer runs in the jungle)", Bidhuri said, referencing his opponent&rsquo;s visibility during the campaign.
This is not the first time Bidhuri has made contentious remarks about his political opponent. Earlier, he sparked outrage by questioning Atishi&rsquo;s identity and accusing her of altering her background. Speaking at another rally, Bidhuri said, "Atishi, who was Marlena, is now Singh. She has even changed her father. This Marlena became Singh. She changed her name. Arvind Kejriwal swore on his children not to align with the corrupt Congress. Marlena changed her father. This reflects the character of the Aam Aadmi Party."
AAP has yet to formally respond to the latest remarks, but the party chief Arvind Kejriwal strongly condemned the earlier comments, calling them an insult to women. "BJP leaders have crossed all limits of shamelessness. BJP leaders are abusing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi ji. The people of Delhi will not tolerate the insult of a woman Chief Minister. All the women of Delhi will take revenge for this," Kejriwal stated in a Hindi post.
The high-stakes Kalkaji Assembly race pits Bidhuri against AAP&rsquo;s Atishi and Congress&rsquo;s Alka Lamba. The elections for the 70-seat Delhi Assembly are scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set for February 8.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh has challenged BJP leaders to substantiate their allegations of extravagant renovations, including claims of a "golden toilet," at Arvind Kejriwal&rsquo;s former CM residence.&nbsp;

AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday invited the media for a tour of Arvind Kejriwal's official residence while he was Delhi's chief minister, which the BJP claims was turned into a "Sheesh Mahal" during the AAP chief's stay.
Challenging the BJP over its allegations on the "Sheesh Mahal" issue, Singh asked its leaders to visit the CM's residence at 11 am on Wednesday with the media and prove their claims.
In a press conference, he alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi lived in a "Rajmahal" worth Rs 2,700 crores and challenged the BJP to open it up for a similar visit with the media.
The Rajya Sabha MP alleged that all of BJP -- from the prime minister to his party members -- is running a propaganda campaign over the "Sheesh Mahal".
Kejriwal occupied the 6 Flagstaff Road bungalow amid controversies related to alleged irregularities in its renovation and costly fittings and household goods present in it. He vacated it in October last year after stepping down as Delhi's CM.
The BJP has focussed a big part of its election campaign centred around these allegations, dubbing the bungalow "Sheesh Mahal".
The prime minister, too, during a BJP rally in Rohini last week, hit out at the AAP, saying their allegations that the Centre did not let the Delhi government work was "exposed by the "Sheesh Mahal".
"They claim there is a minibar in the residence, a golden toilet, and even a swimming pool inside. BJP's leaders are spreading lies, and I want the entire nation and Delhi to know the truth," Singh said.
"Show us where is the swimming pool, the minibar and the golden toilet. The people of Delhi and the country deserve to know the truth. I challenge you. Tomorrow at 11 am, let's visit the Chief Minister's residence along with the media and uncover the reality," he said.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has claimed that valuable items, including a "golden commode", were missing after the bungalow was vacated by Kejriwal.

Speaking at BJP's 'Parivartan Rally' in Rohini that was later addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bidhuri said Atishi changed her surname from "Marlena" to "Singh".
Atishi, who is the sitting MLA from the Kalkaji Assembly seat, dropped her surname a while back.
"This Marlena (surname used earlier by Atishi) became Singh and changed her name. Kejriwal swore over his children not to go with the corrupt Congress; Marlena changed fathers. Earlier she was Marlena; now she has become Singh. This is their character," Bidhuri charged.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) replaced 33 sitting MPs with new faces as it released its first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Among them was South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, who has been replaced by Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, leader of opposition in the Delhi Assembly.
Reacting to the snub, Ramesh Bidhuri said he would welcome guests as a member of the BJP family.
&ldquo;Sometimes a clean sheet has to be laid out for a guest. We are members of the family, have to maintain the dignity and reputation of the house. There is a responsibility to take the ideology of the family forward. We have to work for that," Ramesh Bidhuri told reporters.
Ramesh Bidhuri got caught in controversy after making objectionable remarks against BSP MP Danish Ali in Lok Sabha last year. Bidhuri later apologised for the communal slurs.
The BJP named five candidates for Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, four of them replacements for sitting MPs.
The party named Praveen Khandelwal as its candidate from Chandani Chowk Lok Sabha Sabha seat, dropping two-term MP and former Union minister Harsh Vardhan.
For the West Delhi seat, BJP replaced two-term MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma with Kamaljeet Sehrawat.&nbsp;
It named Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, as its candidate from New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, currently held by Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi.

BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Thursday expressed regret for his objectionable remarks against BSP's Danish Ali in a meeting of the Lok Sabha Privileges Committee, which heard both leaders separately.
Sources said Bidhuri in his deposition before the committee noted that senior BJP leader and Union minister Rajnath Singh had conveyed his regret in the House for his comments on September 21 when he was making a speech during a discussion on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Bidhuri used some objectionable comments to target Ali, who was accused by several BJP leaders of using derogatory words for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provoke the South Delhi MP.
As a row erupted in the House, Singh rose to convey his regrets. "I express regret if the opposition is hurt by the remarks made by the member," the Deputy Leader of the House in Lok Sabha said.
With Bidhuri expressing regret, sources said, the committee was likely to bring closure to the matter and send its report to the speaker.
BJP president J P Nadda had also issued a show-cause notice to Bidhuri, known for his fiery comments which have at times sparked controversies.
With Ali and several other opposition members writing to Speaker Om Birla for taking action against Bidhuri, and quite a few BJP members accusing the BSP MP of making a running commentary during his speech and using derogatory words against the prime minister, the Chair sent complaints of both sides to the Privileges Committee.
Ali also appeared before the committee and spoke in detail about the incident, sources said. He rejected the charge that he used insulting remarks against Modi.

BSP MP Danish Ali on Friday alleged that attempts are being made to turn the victim into an accused by using "fabricated charges" against him over his complaint against BJP member Ramesh Bidhuri for making objectionable remarks in Lok Sabha.
In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Ali said he was "shocked" over clubbing of his complaint against Bidhuri with the ones levelled against him for allegedly provoking the BJP MP.
He said while he was hoping for a swift, strict and exemplary action against Bidhuri, he was sad that attempts were being made to turn the victim into an accused.
Ali shared a copy of the letter on social media.
The panel had issued notices to Ali and Bidhuri on November 21. Ali wrote to Birla on Friday.

BSP MP Danish Ali wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday, demanding that the matter of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's use of abusive language on the floor of the House be referred to the privileges committee.
Ali sought an immediate inquiry into the matter.
Bidhuri made certain objectionable remarks targeted at Ali on Thursday night during a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
"I write to you with deep anguish regarding the speech given in Lok Sabha by an MP of the BJP Mr Ramesh Bidhuri during the discussion on 'Chandrayan success'. During the course of his speech, he directed the most foul, abusive invectives against me which are part of the record of the Lok Sabha," Ali said in his letter to Birla.
The BSP MP listed the objectionable words used by Bidhuri against him in the letter.
"This is most unfortunate and the fact that it has happened in the new parliament building under your leadership as Speaker is truly heartbreaking for me as a minority member of this great nation and an elected Member of Parliament," Ali said.
"I request you to kindly refer this matter to the committee of privileges under rule 227 of the rules of procedure and conduct of business in Lok Sabha for examination, investigation, and report," the BSP MP from Uttar Pradesh's Amroha said.
"This is the only way out to discipline an experienced member so that the atmosphere of our country is not vitiated any further. I request your good self to kindly order an inquiry into the matter," he said.
