Comedian Raju Srivastava, who was admitted at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi, passed away on Wednesday, September 21. He was one of the most loved stand-up comedians in the industry. Fans, celebrities as well as political leaders have expressed their condolences on his death. As per reports, a prayer meet will be held for him in Mumbai and Raju Srivastava's wife is expected to reach there tomorrow.    The prayer meeting will be held at Isckon in Juhu on September 25.   According to ETimes, Raju’s wife felt that it was made sense to held the meet in Mumbai as Raju worked there and it would enable his colleagues and well-wishers to pay their last respect.    A large number of actors, filmmakers and TV producers are expected to attend the prayer meet.  Raju Srivastava was hospitalised on August 10 after he complained of chest pain.   Raju Srivastava became a household name after he featured in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.’ He has also starred in a few films in the 90s and 2000s. The comedian was a part of several other comedy shows, including ‘Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala,’ ‘Comedy Circus,’ and ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil.’

Renowned comedian-actor Raju Srivastava’s last rites were performed at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi. He died at AIIMS on September 21 where he was admitted after suffering a heart attack on August 10. 
The mortal remains of Raju Srivastava were taken in an ambulance decorated with white flowers from his residence in Dwarka with fans following the van.
Raju Srivastava's wife, Shikha, was seen arriving at the crematorium for the final rites. Comedians Ahsaan Qureshi, Sunil Pal and Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism & Culture in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, were also present to pay their last respects.  
Ahead of the cremation, Sunil told news agency ANI, ‘Raju Srivastava was today’s Charlie Chaplin. He was a very hardworking person and used to perform on stage for 2-3 hours continuously. The audience loved to see him perform on stage and he also loved his work. For his entire life, he has already made everyone laugh. If people consider us star performers, the Raju Srivastava was the entire sky. He was our teacher but never made us feel that. Raju ji was very down-to-earth and a great person. He will always be remembered.’
Raju Srivastava was a part of the entertainment industry since late 1980s. He gained recognition after participating in the first season of stand-up comedy show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' in 2005.
He appeared in Hindi films such as 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Baazigar', 'Bombay to Goa' (remake) and 'Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya'. He was one of the contestants on 'Bigg Boss' season three.
Raju Srivastava was also the current chairman of the Film Development Council Uttar Pradesh.

Comedian Raju Srivastava passed away on Wednesday morning. Fans and celebrities took to social media to mourn his loss, but stand-up comedian Rohan Joshi faced the wrath of netizens for his insensitive comment on his death. 
It happened after Rohan responded to YouTuber Atul Khatri’s tribute to the late comedian. 
Atul had shared a picture of Raju Srivastava on Instagram, captioned ‘RIP Rajubhai. You were such an inspiration to so many. Whenever you went on stage you lit it up. Your presence was such that when people just saw you there was an automatic smile on their faces. You will be truly missed. A big loss for the Indian Stand-up Comedy scene.’
To this, Rohan commented: ‘We haven't lost a thing. Whether it was Karma whether it was the roast or any coming in the news. Raju Srivastava took every opportunity he ever got to shit on new comics, especially after the new wave of stand up started. He went on every fkall news channel every time he was invited to go shit on an upcoming art form and call it offensive just because he couldn't understand it and new stars were rising. He might have told a few good jokes but he understood nothing about the spirit of comedy or defending someone's right to say something even if you don't agree.’
His comment rattled a section of social media users, who criticised him for calling Raju’s demise ‘karma.’ He later clarified that he took down the comment after facing backlash. 
‘Yehi soch kar delete kiya kyuki after a minute of anger I realised today is not about my personal feelings. Sorry if it hurt and thanks for the perspective,’ he was quoted by DNA.
Actor Sikandar Kher was also irked by his ‘good riddance’ comment. Taking to his Instagram Stories, he wrote, ‘There are always people that will not be the ideal way we think they should be. But, that's life and we as humans and humanity should deal with it for our own health and happiness (in my opinion). But, after reading this about someone who's passed away too soon, I am just sad to see that a young man who might be funny and witty, probably lacks a huge dose of humanity. #unfortunate #disheartening and very very very #uncool. Ps: took a lot for me to be this polite.’
Raju Srivastava died at Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after more than 40 days of hospitalisation.

He got his first break in 1994 after he bagged the show ‘Tea Time Manoranjan’ on Doordarshan. He then went on to feature in TV series ‘Shaktimaan’ as Dhurandhar Singh. He was part of the show from 1998 to 2005.

In an exclusive interview with News18, his friend-comedian Sunil Pal recalled doing several stage shows and ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ with Raju.
He said, ‘It’s really difficult to process this unfortunate event. I am trying to come to terms with the fact that Raju Srivastava is not with us. He was a brave warrior and fought till his last breathe. I had the honour and pleasure to work with Raju Bhai on numerous occasions.’
‘We did a lot of stage shows together, participated in reality shows and even did films together. He always made sure people would have a smile on their face. He had an amazing sense of humour and would often entertain everyone. I still recall the days when we did The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He was, is and will always remain the king of stand-up comedy,’ he added.
Sunil Pal mentioned that he had met Raju two weeks before the unfortunate incident. ‘We met at his office and I was accompanied by an aspiring comedian. Raju bhai asked him to perform and he really loved his comedy. He gave him a monetary reward and also encouraged him to pursue the career. Raju bhai was a person who would encourage and motivate emerging talent,’ he said.
