They said the soldier was injured in the exchange of fire that continued for nearly half-an-hour between the two sides but the terrorists managed to flee into the nearby forest.
A massive search operation was launched to track down the terrorists.

NDTV has reported quoting sources that an Army Major opened fire inside a military camp in J&amp;K

At least five army personnel, including a couple of officers, were injured when an officer allegedly opened fire and exploded grenades inside a camp in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, official sources said.
The incident took place near Thanamandi and efforts were on to overpower the accused, said to be a major-rank officer, who had reportedly taken shelter inside an armoury, the sources said.
Army officials were tight-lipped about the incident, while the sources said the army had evacuated a village in the close vicinity of the armoury as a precautionary measure.
The sources said the injured were taken to a military hospital and the condition of one of the officers was stated to be "critical".
A few soldiers were also present inside the armoury and were believed to have been taken hostage by the accused, the sources said.

"We are demanding that the employees should be relocated from Kashmir in the wake of selective and targeted killings. For the matter to be raised with the government, we are seeking a written assurance for an appointment with the LG," a protester told reporters here.
He said they have failed to get an appointment with LG Manoj Sinha despite three separate requests made to the Raj Bhawan.

Amid two terror attacks within 12 hours in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that those behind the attacks won't go "unpunished".
Sinha tweeted, "I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack in Rajouri. I assure the people that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families."
He also announced a compensation of ₹10 lakhs and a government job for relatives of those killed in the attack. Those seriously injured would be given ₹1 lakh each.
"Officials have been directed to ensure best treatment to injured," he added.

Following huge protests over the deaths of two persons outside an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir, the police reportedly constituted a special investigation team (SIT) on 19 December 2022 to probe the incident.

Police set up a special team headed by a gazette-rank police officer to find out what happened, as per sources quoted by news agency PTI.
The SIT will work under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, Mohammad Aslam and will be headed by Deputy SP (headquarters), Rajouri, Chanchal Singh. Its members will be Inspector Danish Maqbool, Probationary Sub-Inspector (PSI) Jatinder Sharma and two head constables, the sources said.
The SIT has been asked to update day to day progress of investigation with the range police headquarters, they said.

Quoting the complainant, officials said the officer allegedly made objectionable remarks after one of his subordinates ordered vegetarian food.

An assistant commissioner-level officer in Jammu and Kashmir&rsquo;s Rajouri district has been suspended for making &ldquo;objectionable remarks&rdquo; against a particular religion, officials said on Wednesday.
Rajouri District Magistrate Vikas Kundal ordered the action against Assistant Commissioner (Panchayat), Abdul Rashid Kohli, following a complaint by one of his subordinates, they said.
"This office has received a complaint that AC Panchayat has made some objectionable remarks about a particular religion," Kundal said in an order issued late on Tuesday.
It is reported that Kohli made the remarks while having lunch at Blue Moon Restaurant with four of his subordinates during office hours, he added.
Quoting the complainant, the officials said the officer allegedly made objectionable remarks after one of his subordinates ordered vegetarian food.
According to the order, the officer&rsquo;s conduct was not only a violation of service conduct rules but also hurt the religious sentiments of another community and had the potential of creating a law and order problem in the district.
The district magistrate said a committee headed by Additional District Development Commissioner Pawan Parihar would probe the matter and submit a report within 15 days.&nbsp;
