Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has been sentenced to two years in jail in a cheque-bouncing case by a Jamnagar court. The court has also ordered him to repay double the amount that he owed to the complainant. However, Santoshi has now denied all the claims in the decade-old case.&nbsp;
<h3>What's the case about?</h3>
Ashok Lal, a prominent industrialist and shipping magnate from Jamnagar, claimed that he received 10 cheques of ₹10 lakhs each from the filmmaker, totalling ₹1 crore. However, all the cheques bounced.
According to Piyush Bhojani, Lal's advocate, he contributed ₹1 crore to Rajkumar Santoshi's film. While repaying him, Santoshi sent him 10 cheques of ₹10 lakh each, which bounced.&nbsp;
The businessman said that the cheques bounced once they were put in the bank within the allotted time, and he had attempted to get in touch with the filmmaker about the issue beforehand. However, Santoshi refused to establish communication, which prompted the magnate to file a lawsuit under the Negotiable Instrument Acts.&nbsp;
<h3>Rajkumar Santoshi denies allegations&nbsp;</h3>
The filmmaker now denied all the claims. Speaking to ETimes, the filmmaker said, "It is a fake case, and we will be lodging an appeal against the verdict in a higher court."&nbsp;
Meanwhile, on the film front, Santoshi is currently busy with his next venture, 'Lahore 1947', which features Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in leading roles.&nbsp;

Bollywood icon Sunny Deol, who attended the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa on November 21, opened up about his journey in the film industry.
Recalling his post &lsquo;Gadar&rsquo; phase, he shared how the colossal success of the film didn't lead to subsequent script offers, marking a struggle period for him.&nbsp;
In a candid conversation with director Rahul Rawail, Sunny expressed gratitude for pivotal opportunities, acknowledging that despite some hits and misses, those films remain etched in people's memories.
He attributed his standing in the industry to these roles and emphasized his pursuit of acting over stardom, inspired by his father's film legacy.&nbsp;
Reflecting on his career, Sunny revealed a challenging phase of 20 years after &lsquo;Gadar&rsquo;, where script offers were scarce.
However, he remained resolute and committed to moving forward, rooted in his passion for acting.&nbsp;
During the discussion, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi commended Sunny's talent, lamenting the industry's failure to fully recognize it, a sentiment that moved Sunny to tears.&nbsp;
The event also featured the screening of &lsquo;Gadar 2,&rsquo; directed by Anil Sharma. The movie starred Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma alongside Sunny Deol.
The film's historic box office success, amassing over Rs 500 crore, marked a significant milestone in Sunny's celebrated career.&nbsp;

Music composer AR Rahman, who composed music for Rajkumar Santoshi&rsquo;s upcoming film &lsquo;Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh&rsquo;, opened up on the film that is embroiled in a controversy. The film is facing backlash as many people feel it undermines the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and dignifies his assassinator Nathuram Godse.
At a promotional event of the film, AR Rahman said, &lsquo;They have not seen the film, they have assumed the trailer is taking sides&hellip; People have stopped trusting filmmakers because filmmakers are taking sides. Unfortunately&hellip; So, he (Santoshi) is the victim.&rsquo;
Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi recently wrote a letter to Mumbai Police asking for additional security for himself and his family after a promotional event of the film was disrupted by a few people who waved black flags and shouted slogans. He said he received threats from some unknown people asking him to halt &lsquo;Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh&rsquo;s release.
Rajkumar said, &lsquo;Both Gandhi and Godse were fearless people. Godse wasn't afraid of the consequences after killing Gandhi. When I am making a film on these two fearless people, how can I get scared? I don't care about death threats but my close ones insisted I must take precautions as it is a serious threat. So, I had requested Mumbai Police for protection and they have provided me with that. I am thankful to them.&rsquo;
He further cited example of &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; and said, &lsquo;We should not pay attention to it and we should rather focus on making a good film&hellip; I don&rsquo;t believe in this trend. If this trend worked, Pathaan would not have received such an opening (in advance booking)&rsquo;.

Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has written to the Mumbai police seeking tight security for himself and his family ahead of the release of his film 'Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh'. His plea comes days after his event for film's promotion was disrupted by a few protestors. The film is all set to release in theaters on January 26.
A photocopy of the director's letter was tweeted by news agency ANI in which he mentioned that he received many threats from unknown people asking him to stop the promotion and release of his film. He stated grave damage and injury could be caused to him and his family members if such persons are set free and no steps are taken.
Set in the early Post-independence India of 1947-48, the film is based on an alternative version of Indian history where Mahatma Gandhi survives the assassination attempt by Godse.
The film will clash at the theatres with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan'.

Protestors interrupted the press conference held by &lsquo;Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh&rsquo; makers in Bhopal.&nbsp;

Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi's forthcoming film &lsquo;Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh&rsquo; has been facing protests ever since its trailer was released by the makers. The makers held a press conference in Mumbai on Friday. However, it was interrupted by protestors and police had to take control of the situation.
A video is being widely shared on the internet in which the protestors are seen waving black flags to express their anger. They even raised slogans of 'Mahatma Gandhi Zindabaad' and 'Gandhi ji, amar rahe.&rsquo;
Some protesters even sat among the media.
The trailer of &lsquo;Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh&rsquo; upset many political leaders and they accused the makers of glorifying Nathuram Godse. Effigies of the director were burnt by protestors in Bhopal.
Rajkumar Santoshi defended his film in a statement and said, &lsquo;Once people see the film, they will understand what I am trying to convey through my film. I have equally given importance to both the historical characters in my films&rsquo;.
