Newly appointed Rajasthan ministers were on Friday allocated portfolios, with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma keeping eight departments, including home and excise.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari was allocated finance, tourism, art and culture, public works department, and women and child development and department of child rights.
Prem Chand Bairwa, who is also a deputy chief minister, has been allocated technical education and higher education.
Among the other cabinet ministers, Kirodi Lal Meena got the agriculture and rural development departments, Gajendra Singh Khimsar medical and health, Rajyvardhan Rathore industries, IT and communication and Madan Dilawar school education.
Earlier in the day, Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Misha approved the list of portfolios for the ministers who were recently inducted into Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma's ministry.
Twenty-two ministers were sworn in at a ceremony at the Raj Bhawan on December 30. Chief Minister Sharma and his two deputies had taken oath earlier.

Congress is fighting hard to change the trend of alternate governments in the state.

Rajasthan is all set to vote on Saturday to elect members of a new assembly with the BJP aiming to unseat the ruling Congress, which is fighting hard to change the trend of alternate governments in the state.
Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm in 199 out of 200 constituencies amid tight security arrangements, chief electoral officer Praveen Gupta said.
Due to the death of the Congress candidate in Sriganganagar's Karanpur seat Gurmeet Singh Koonar, also the sitting MLA, the election in this constituency has been adjourned.
The past few days saw a high-pitch electoral campaign with Congress focusing mainly on the works and performance of the Ashok Gehlot government, its schemes and programmes and also banked on the promise of seven guarantees if the party retains power. The BJP attacked the Congress on issues such as crime against women, appeasement, corruption and paper leak.
As many as 1862 candidates are in the fray with the number of voters being 5,25,38,105. These include 1,70,99,334 voters in the age group of 18-30, and of them, 22,61,008 are new voters in the 18-19 age group.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra, assembly speaker CP Joshi, several ministers including Shanti Dhariwal, BD Kalla, Bhanwar Singh Bhati, Saleh Mohammad, Mamta Bhupesh, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, Rajendra Yadav, Shakuntla Rawat, Udai Lal Anjana, Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, Ashok Chandna and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot are among the Congress leaders contesting the elections. &nbsp; &nbsp;In BJP, leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore, deputy leader of opposition and former state president Satish Poonia, former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, MPs Diya Kumari, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Baba Balaknath and Kirodi Lal Meena are in the fray.
Gurjar leader late Kirodi Singh Bainsla's son Vijay Bainsla is also contesting as BJP candidate.
At the same time, former chief secretary Niranjan Arya is trying his luck in politics as a Congress candidate.
The BJP has given tickets to 59 MLAs, including defected Congress MLA Girraj Singh Malinga and six Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha member while the Congress has fielded 97 MLAs including seven independents and one from BJP - Shobharani Kushwah who was expelled from the saffron party last year. &nbsp; One of the major faces who joined the BJP from the Congress is former MP from Nagaur Jyoti Mirdha, who is contesting the assembly election.
Nagaur MP and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) convener Hanuman Beniwal is also contesting the assembly elections. RLP is contesting the election in alliance with Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshiram) led by Chandrashekhar Azad.
BJP is contesting on all seats while Congress has left one seat - Bharatpur - for its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) like the 2018 elections.
RLD currently holds the Bharatpur seat and Subhash Garg, who is the sitting MLA, is contesting the elections as the party candidate. &nbsp; Apart from the BJP and Congress, other parties including CPI (M), RLP, Bharat Adiwasi Party, Bhartiya Tribal Party, Aam Aadmi Party, &nbsp;AIMIM are also contesting the elections.
Over 40 rebels of both BJP and Congress are also in the fray.
At present, Congress has 107 MLAs, BJP 70, 3 RLP, 2 each of CPI (M) and Bhartiya Tribal Party (BTP), 1 Rashtriya Lok Dal, 13 are independents and two seats (Udaipur and Karanpur) are vacant.
On the other hand, all the preparations for the elections have been completed.
Meanwhile, in a show of unity, Gehlot on Friday posted a video on social media platforms in which Pilot is making an appeal to people to vote for the Congress. The video post assumes significance as the Pilot-Gehlot power tussle has found frequent mention in the campaigning for the Rajasthan assembly polls with the prime minister also referring to it.
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that polling stations have been set up at a total of 36,101 places in the state.
"A total of 10,501 polling stations have been set up in urban areas and 41,006 in rural areas. Live webcasting will be conducted at a total of 26,393 polling stations. These polling centers will be monitored from the district-level control room," he said.
Across the state, 65,277 ballot units, 62,372 control units and 67,580 VVPAT machines including reserves will be used for voting.
He said that to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of assembly elections, 6,287 micro observers and 6247 sector officers with reserves have been appointed, who will immediately resolve any kind of problem by continuously coordinating with the polling parties.
One additional EVM machine will also be given to all sector officers who will take action for repair and replacement if any EVM-related defect is reported.
As many as 2,74,846 polling personnel will conduct the voting. 7960 women polling personnel will take command at women-managed polling stations and 796 disabled polling personnel will take command at disabled-managed polling stations.
Wheelchairs have been arranged for voting at all the polling booths, taking advantage of which the disabled people and voters above 80 years of age can cast their vote without any inconvenience.
A total of 1,02,290 security personnel have been deployed to ensure peaceful voting. A total force of 69,114 police personnel, 32,876 Rajasthan Home Guard, Forest Guard and RAC personnel have been deployed and 700 companies of CAPF have been deployed.
Three flying squads and as many Static Surveillance Teams (SST) will be deployed in each assembly constituency for intensive checking and monitoring on the voting day.
One additional FS and SST each will be deployed in expenditure-sensitive polling stations on polling day. There will be availability of at least three QRTs at each polling station, he informed.
Sealing and checking action will be taken at the check posts along the 4850 km long interstate border with the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab with the aim of preventing the entry of unwanted outsider elements.
Security arrangements have been tightened and more than 1,70,000 personnel including companies of central paramilitary forces (CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, RPF etc.) and armed forces of 18 other states slated to be deployed.
DGP (Law and Order) Rajeev Sharma said more than 70,000 Rajasthan Police personnel, 18,000 Rajasthan Home Guards, 2,000 Rajasthan Border Home Guards, 15,000 Home Guards of other states (Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh), 120 RAC Companies will also be involved.&nbsp;

Addressing a public meeting in Churu district's Taranagar, he exhorted people to vote for the BJP in the November 25 Rajasthan Assembly polls to ensure rapid development of the state.
The Congress and development are enemies and will remain enemies. The relationship between the Congress and good intentions is the same as that between light and darkness, the prime minister said.
He also accused the Congress of "misleading" ex-servicemen on the issue One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme for decades.
Due to the Congress' "misgovernance", Modi said, inflation and unemployment are out of control in Rajasthan.&nbsp;

Jairam Ramesh said that PM Modi in Barmer asked voters to press the "lotus" button as if they're awarding the "death sentence" to the Congress.

The Congress on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of delivering hate speech in poll-bound Rajasthan and urged the Election Commission to take action against him for asking voters to press the "lotus" button as if they're awarding the "death sentence" to the Congress.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh cited the prime minister's speech made in Barmer on Wednesday and said the people of the state will surely respond to such "arrogance" of the prime minister.
"Jab nash manuj pe chhata hai, pahle vivek marr jata hai (sanity deserts man before destruction)," Modi said in a post in Hindi on X.
"Prime Minister Modi's hatred towards Congress leaders can be easily gauged from his statement. How can a person holding a responsible position like the prime minister talk about hanging people through voting? The prime minister is strangling democracy," Ramesh alleged.
"This is a clear example of hate speech. If the Election Commission is serious about fair and free elections then they should take immediate cognizance of this and take strict action," the Congress leader demanded.
"The public will definitely respond to this arrogance of Prime Minister Modi in the elections," he also said in his post.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attacked the ruling Congress in Rajasthan over corruption and "appeasement policy" and claimed the morale of terrorists and rioters soars wherever the party is in power, as he urged voters to punish the Congress in the upcoming state elections.
"You have got an opportunity to punish them. Press the button with the lotus symbol so that their punishment is ensured. Jaise unhe phansi de rahe ho, aise kamal ke nishaan pe batan dabao (Press on the button with the lotus symbol as if you are sentencing them to death)," Modi said addressing an election rally in Barmer in Rajasthan.
Lotus is the BJP's poll symbol.
The prime minister said that in the last five years, people in the state have not been able to celebrate any festival peacefully.
"Sometimes there are riots, sometimes stone pelting and curfew. This has been the picture of Congress in the last five years. Therefore, it is essential to remove Congress from here," he said.
The Congress is seeking to repeat its government in Rajasthan while the BJP is putting all its might to dethrone it from the desert state, which has seen alternate governments of the Congress and the BJP in the last many years.
Assembly elections in Rajasthan will be held on November 25 and counting will be done on December 3.

Rajasthan polls: 'forgive and forget', Sachin Pilot says on his feud with CM Ashok Gehlot

Commenting on the rebellion against CM Ashok Gehlot in 2020, Pilot said the issues that he raised in 2020 were important for the party and people.

Days after the Congress fielded Ashok Gehlot loyalist Shanti Dhariwal from the Kota North assembly seat in Rajasthan, senior leader Sachin Pilot on Tuesday said he was "absolutely okay" with whatever decision the party has taken as dwelling on the past is not productive.
The ticket distribution was by and large "very fair" with the winnability factor adhered to, he said, adding the priority now was to work for ensuring the victory of all candidates selected by the party.
In an interview with PTI on board a flight from Delhi to Indore in Madhya Pradesh where he will be on a campaign trail for two days, Pilot said he was working in Rajasthan with the mantra of "forgive, forget and move on" as advised by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former AICC president Rahul Gandhi.
Asked about Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's past barbs such as &lsquo;nikamma&rsquo; directed at him, Pilot said, "Leave it! Who said what&hellip; I can be responsible for what I have said or not said. We should maintain dignity in political discussions." "Whoever said all those words you mentioned, I did not respond in kind because it is not the way I am built and we now have to move on, let bygones be bygones, whatever was said, we need to forget and move forward. It is not about individuals or positions or someone's statements now. It is about the country and the party," Pilot said.
He also said who gets what position is "not decided by an individual" and the longstanding tradition in the Congress was that newly-elected MLAs and the leadership in Delhi take a call after getting a majority.
Asked about ticket distribution and voices of dissent following the announcement of the Congress candidates&rsquo; lists, the former deputy chief minister said it is a good thing when a political party has a problem of plenty i.e. more people wanting a ticket for the same seat.
"Ultimately, the party can give a ticket only to one individual. So after a lot of feedback, surveys, opinion of leaders, we gave tickets on winnability. It is not possible to satisfy everybody. By and large the distribution of ticket is very fair," he said.
"I have always wanted more younger people to get opportunities to fight elections and a lot of younger people have been given a chance this time. Overall there are a lot more pulls and pressures and infighting after the announcement of the BJP lists," Pilot said.
Asked specifically about Shanti Dhariwal's ticket from Kota North. Pilot said, "I don't want to go into the allocation of (tickets to) individuals. Whoever the party felt was a winnable candidate whether X,Y or Z, that person was given the mandate after much consideration." "Ultimately, like I said, the final decision lies with the Congress president and the top leadership, whatever they have decided, we have to work and make sure those people win the elections," he said. Asked about the rebellion he led against the government led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in 2020 and the events of September last year when Gehlot loyalist did not allow a legislature party meeting to take place, Pilot said the issues that he raised in 2020 were important for the party and people.
"There was a time when the Rajasthan government did not have a Dalit minister, today we have four Dalit ministers, workers who struggled against five years of Vasundhara Raje government, went to jail, faced lathi charges, those people should be rewarded, not by giving power and positions but by appreciating them, involving them in decision making, they becoming stakeholders in the government of the day. So that has happened now," he told PTI.
The AICC at that point had made a committee to look into all the issues that were raised and "I am happy that we moved forward", Pilot said.
The Congress last week fielded state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dhariwal from the Kota North seat. The party did not give a ticket to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's confidant and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Dharmendra Rathore.
Dhariwal and Rathore were among the three senior state leaders against whom the party's disciplinary committee had issued notices after they did not attend a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party in the state and held a parallel meeting of MLAs instead last year at Dhariwal's residence. A leadership change was on the cards at the legislature party meet.
Mahesh Joshi, the third leader who was issued a notice by the party's disciplinary committee, has also been denied a ticket for the Assembly polls.
On Dhariwal, Pilot further said, "As far as giving a ticket is concerned, it is the decision of the party. In their wisdom, after having given due consideration to all the aspects they decided to give tickets to people. Whatever decision party has taken I am absolutely okay with it." "Whoever have been nominated, we have to ensure their victory. Who said what, did what is all in the past, if you keep dwelling on it, it is not very productive especially during election time. We have to make our candidates win, that should be our priority," Pilot asserted.
Asked about suggestions by some that his chances of becoming CM were hit by his 2020 rebellion, the Congress leader said, "I don't think it is a question of my chance, your chance or his chance. Right now we have to make sure the Congress party wins." "Who gets what position is not decided by an individual. The longstanding tradition in the Congress party is that you fight elections, get a mandate, once you cross the majority mark, the MLAs and the leadership in Delhi will decide who will get what responsibility. In 2018, exactly same thing happened, I was the party president when we got the majority, we passed a one-line resolution authorising the party president to decide who will lead the government and I think, this time is no different,&rdquo; he asserted.
Not just in Rajasthan, this is the case in every state that goes to polls, he added.
What happens in future no one knows but right now our priority is and should be that the Congress party gets the mandate from the voters, Pilot said.
On the events of September last year when the legislature party meeting could not take place, Pilot said it was "unfortunate" and pointed out that Chief Minister Gehlot himself had expressed regret for what happened.
&ldquo;I was advised by Mr. Kharge and Mr. (Rahul) Gandhi to forgive, forget and move on. That's the mantra I am working with and that is the way everybody should be looking at things," he said.
Today, India faces many challenges and the real alternative pan-India is the Congress, he said, adding that when the Congress gets stronger, the INDIA bloc gets stronger.
This nation needs a strong Congress and to build a strong Congress "we have to win these state elections".
"We have to win these states. These are heartland Hindi states where there is a bipolar contest. We won in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, those victories have given Congress workers a lot of tailwind," he said.
Pilot said he is "absolutely" confident that people have realised that the Congress is a better alternative and these elections will see a large and a positive mandate for the party.

) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday accused the Enforcement Directorate of "transporting" money for "distribution" during the assembly polls.
While making the charge, however, Gehlot did not elaborate on his allegation.
"This is the first time that elections and ED raids are going on simultaneously in the country. ED is transporting money for distributing it in these elections and the Election Commission of India should intervene in this matter," the chief minister said.
The ED recently claimed that a forensic analysis and a statement made by a 'cash courier' have led to "startling allegations" that the promoters of the 'Mahadev' betting app paid about Rs 508 crore to the Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
Baghel refuted the allegations and dubbed the ED's press note levelling the charge as the BJP's second election manifesto.
Gehlot was talking to media persons at the Jodhpur airport after arriving here. He is set to file his nomination papers for the November 25 Rajasthan assembly polls from the Sardarpura constituency on Monday.
He further said it was interesting to note that the ED has not yet taken any step against a BJP leader.
The mandate of agencies like ED and I-T is to nab economic offenders but they are targeting the politicians in the entire country.
"The ED is for economic offences and financial embezzlement and we also want actions against these. But today, agencies like ED, CBI and I-T are targeting politicians," he said.
On voices of dissent within his party, Gehlot said it was normal and a spontaneous reaction to the announcement of candidates.
"All this dissent will be managed and all will be convinced that they have to work unitedly to bring the Congress back to power in the state," the chief minister said.&nbsp;

The poll panel asked her to respond to the notice by October 30 evening.

The BJP accused Priyanka Gandhi of "invoking the personal religious devotion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi" to make false claims during her poll campaign in Rajasthan and urged the Election Commission to take action against her.
Priyanka Gandhi, the BJP noted in its submission, told a public meeting in Dausa on October 20 that she saw it on TV that when an envelop of donation made by Modi at a temple was opened, it carried only Rs 21. She adds that she saw the news and is not aware if the claim is true or not, the BJP's complaint read.

Rajvi, a five-time MLA, and the son-in-law of former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, will be contesting again from Chittorgarh after 15 years.

&nbsp;BJP MLA from Chittorgarh Chandrabhan Singh on Saturday alleged that he was denied a party ticket because of the party's state president CP Joshi's grudges against him since their student days.
He said his being overlooked would cause party face consequences in the entire division as he served the people for 10 years with full honesty.
"This is a local dispute. I was an ABVP worker from here and CP Joshi was in NSUI. This fight has been going on since then. He also became the President and Vice President of NSUI. Since that time the feud in our college has been going on.
"After this, fights within the Panchayat Committee continued. After this, CP Joshi became the state president of the BJP. Since then he has a grudge against me," Singh told reporters.
Singh earlier represented the Chittorgarh seat in 2013 and 2018 whereas CP Joshi is BJP MP from Chittorgarh parliamentary constituency.
The saffron party has fielded Narpat Singh Rajvi from the Chittorgarh assembly seat in an attempt to pacify him for a refusal for a ticket from the Vidhyadhar Nagar seat in Jaipur where Diya Kumari has been declared a candidate.

Chandrabhan Singh and his supporters raised slogans against CP Joshi in Chittorgarh and also burned his posters. He also made a post on X raising the same matter.
"Your Chandrabhan will once again live up to your trust. Chittorgarh assembly constituency is my family and the bright future of the family is my only concern," he wrote on X.
Singh said he will have a meeting with the party workers to discuss the issue on Sunday.
"I will sit with the workers and talk about it tomorrow. Whatever the workers say, I will work keeping in mind their feelings," Singh said.
Rajvi became the MLA from the Chittorgarh assembly seat in 1993 defeating Nirmala Shaktawat of Congress. In 1998, Surendra Singh Jadawat of Congress defeated him for the post of MLA.
In 2003, Rajvi once again contested the assembly elections from Chittorgarh and wrested back the seat from Surendra Singh Jadawat.

Rajasthan polls: rivals Ashok Gehlot & Sachin Pilot in Congress' first candidate list

In what could be seen as a truce between rivals Gehlot and Piliot, the Congress has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly election.&nbsp;

The Congress on Saturday released its first list of 33 candidates for the Rajasthan assembly elections, fielding Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from Sardarpura and his former deputy Sachin Pilot from Tonk.
Three leaders who rebelled against Gehlot with Pilot in 2020 made it to the list -- Indraj Singh Gurjar from Virat Nagar, Mukesh Bhakhar from Ladnun, and Ramniwas Gawariya from Parbatsar.
The Congress has given tickets to five ministers, 27 sitting MLAs and an independent candidate who won the 2018 Rajasthan assembly elections.
The party has fielded Archana Sharma from Malviya Nagar and Pushpendra Bharadwaj from Sanganer. Both of them had lost the last elections.
Lalit Kumar Yadav, who lost the elections on a BSP ticket from Mundawar, and Vivek Dhakhar, who had contested unsuccessfully on a Congress ticket from Mandalgarh, have also been given tickets.

Ramila Khadiya, who had contested as an independent candidate and won, has been fielded by the party from Kushalgarh seat.
Speaker C P Joshi will contest from his Nathdwara assembly seat and Congress state unit president Govind Singh Dotasra from Lachhmangarh. Former minister Harish Chaudhary will contest from Baytoo and minister Mamata Bhupesh from Sikrai-SC seat.
The other ministers who have been given tickets are Bhanwar Singh Bhati from Kolayat, Tikaram Julie from Alwar Rural, Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya from Bagidora, and Ashok Chandna from Hindoli.
The list includes the names of nine women candidates. It also includes three Scheduled Caste seats and four Scheduled Tribe seats.
In a post on X, Dotasra asserted that all 33 candidates announced by the Congress would win.
"Mandate to Congress, this is the message of Rajasthan.

"Congratulations in advance to the 33 candidates announced by the Congress party for their massive victory in the 2023 Rajasthan assembly elections. This time, the people of Rajasthan will write history and change the tradition by giving an unprecedented mandate to the Congress," he said.
Rajasthan has never re-elected a government since 1998, alternating between the Congress and the BJP.
The Congress is yet to declare candidates on a majority of seats. Its Central Election Committee will meet on Sunday to finalise names for more seats.
The polls to the 200-member assembly will be held on November 25.&nbsp;

The BJP has named Rajvi after a near-revolt by party workers. Rajvi is the son-in-law of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and a five-time MLA.

The BJP on Saturday named 83 more candidates for the Rajasthan assembly polls, fielding former chief minister Vasundhara Raje from her traditional Jhalrapatan seat.
The party also decided to field Narpat Singh Rajvi from Chittorgarh after its earlier decision to deny the five-term MLA, who is the son-in-law of its stalwart leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, renomination from his Vidhyadhar Nagar seat. This triggered a backlash from a section of party workers.
The BJP leadership's about-turn on his candidature is being seen as a damage-control exercise after Rajvi reacted angrily and cited his family legacy to hit out at the party.
The names also include Vishwaraj Singh Mewar, a descendent of Maharana Pratap Singh, who joined the party recently. He has been fielded from Nathdwara, which was won by veteran Congress leader C P Joshi in 2018.

Former state BJP president Satish Poonia has been fielded from Amber, the seat he currently represents in the Rajasthan assembly.
The name of its leader in the assembly Rajendra Rathore also figured in the list.
With the second list, the BJP has so far named 124 candidates for the November 25 polls to the 200-member assembly.&nbsp;

The other districts covered under the ERCP are Jaipur, Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Tonk, Karauli, Alwar, Bharatpur and Dholpur.

Rajasthan election 2023: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to address rally in Dausa

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will address a public rally in Dausa district on Friday as part of the party's awareness campaign on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP).
The campaign was launched by party president Mallikarjun Kharge in Baran on Monday.
A Congress spokesperson said the party is running the campaign to protest against the Centre's decision of not declaring the ERCP as a national project.
&ldquo;Under the campaign, a public meeting will be organised in Dausa on Friday which will be addressed by AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi,&rdquo; the spokesperson said.
AICC Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC President Govind Singh Dotasra and other leaders will attend the meeting.
The ERCP will help augment the irrigation facilities in an area of around two lakh hectares and address the drinking water problems of 13 districts in eastern Rajasthan, including Dausa.
The other districts covered under the ERCP are Jaipur, Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Tonk, Karauli, Alwar, Bharatpur and Dholpur.
The Congress has made the ERCP a political issue in the eastern region of the state where it had won a chunk of assembly seats in the 2018 assembly elections.
