Popular Radio Station Fever FM on Tuesday announced that it will be closing down its operation via a LinkedIn post. The station owned by Hindustan Times, attributed this to the evloving trends in the music industry. In the post it further added that the end for Radio came closer than expected.
"Dear All, It is with a heavy heart we bring to you this urgent announcement. You, our partners and our listeners, have been with us through our ups and downs and our thick and thin but we must make this decision for all," the post read. "Radio has been a part of our journey, figuratively and literally. Everyday. But as they say, all journeys must come to an end and the end for Radio is closer than you expect," it added.&nbsp;
<h3>Fever FM CEO's message</h3>
The post also contained a short video message from the firm's CEO Ramesh Menon. In the video, Menon could be seen expressing gratitude towards the radio jockeys, advertisers, partners, employees and listeners who have supported Fever FM so far.

According to its official website, it has over 16 million listeners. The Voice of America television program, known as Ashna TV, which had previously been broadcast on the Tolo TV, TOLONews, and Lamar TV channels, was suspended on March 27 this year by the authorities in Afghanistan.

The Taliban has banned the FM radio broadcasts streaming from Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) Afghanistan stations, saying that they are stopped due to non-compliance with journalistic principles and one-sided broadcasts.
Taking to Twitter, Abdul Haq Hammad, who oversees broadcasting for the Ministry of Information and Culture of the incumbent Afghan administration, said, "Radio Azadi (RL), which started broadcasting after the American occupation, was stopped due to non-compliance with journalistic principles and one-sided broadcasts," Khaama Press reported.
According to a tweet from Hammad, the Radio Azadi broadcasts have been banned in 13 Afghan provinces.
Meanwhile, VOA also reported that a new directive from the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture has placed a ban on VOA's broadcasts, effective from December 1.

The Voice of America television program, known as Ashna TV, which had previously been broadcast on the Tolo TV, TOLONews, and Lamar TV channels, was suspended on March 27 this year by the authorities in Afghanistan.
According to the VOA, the ban came a day after the Taliban's ministry of information and culture said it had received complaints about programming content but shared no specifics.
It is unclear whether the ban will apply to other international broadcasters that have used the same system for FM broadcasts in Afghanistan.
"Afghanistan has press laws, and any network found repeatedly contravening these laws will have their privilege of reporting from and broadcasting within Afghanistan taken away," Abdul Qahar Balkhi, who looks the incumbent Afghan administration's foreign department, said in written comments to VOA.
"VOA and Azadi Radio failed to adhere to these laws, were found as repeat offenders, failed to show professionalism and were therefore shut down," VOA quoted Balkhi as saying.
Voice of America began airing radio programs in Dari and Pashto in Afghanistan in October 1980 and July 1982, respectively. Radio Azadi officially started broadcasting in Afghanistan in 2002.
There were 547 media outlets in Afghanistan during the previous administration, according to Reporters Without Borders, but 219 print, aural, and visual media were shut down after the current administration assumed power, according to Khaama Press.
Since taking over last year, the government has placed a number of limitations on the media and journalists in Afghanistan, including mandating female presenters t cover their faces while on air.
Free press organizations have slammed them with pervasive media censorship and muzzling, harassing reporters, and depriving female media workers of the right to employment, Khaama Press reported.

The ministry said airing such content is in gross violation of the Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA).
"It has come to notice of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that vulgar and objectionable content is very often being broadcast on several FM Radio channels.
"It has also been noticed that the language used by many radio jockeys is indecent, dual meaning and offensive. They often make defamatory and derogatory comments which do not appear to be in good taste," the ministry said in a recent advisory.
It said clause 7.6 of Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA) provides that the permission holder shall ensure that no content, messages, advertisement or communication, transmitted on its broadcast channel is objectionable, obscene, unauthorised or inconsistent with the laws of India.
Airing such type of content is in gross violation of GOPA, which also provides that the permission holder shall follow the same program and advertisement code as followed by the All India Radio (AIR), the ministry said.
"The ministry in exercise of powers flowing from the GOPA hereby advises all FM Radio channels to strictly adhere to the terms and conditions prescribed and not to air any content in violation thereof. All the channels must exercise discretion and restraint in broadcast of such contents.
"Strict compliance to the above direction should be ensured by all FM radio channels. Any violation shall entail such penal action as deemed fit in accordance with terms and conditions laid down in GOPA," it said.
