Former Indian envoy to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria in his latest book spilled the beans on how the Indian security agencies thwarted an Al Qaeda revenge attack in Kashmir after being tipped off by the ISI.&nbsp;

Former Indian envoy Ajay Bisaria revealed in his latest book how ISI's tip-off helped India avert a major revenge attack planned by Al Qaeda in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019.&nbsp;
Bisaria was the India&rsquo;s High Commissioner to Pakistan from 2017 to August 2019. He was expelled by the Pakistani government in response to the abrogation of Article 370.&nbsp;
In his book, 'Anger Management: The Troubled Diplomatic Relationship between India and Pakistan', Bisaria said that the Indian High Commission in Islamabad was used as a point of communication by the Pakistan Army to pass off the information.&nbsp;
The Al Qaeda terror group planned an imminent attack in Kashmir in revenge for the killing of its operative Zakir Musa, a close aide of slain terrorist Burhan Wani.&nbsp;
Musa had split from the Kashmir-focused militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen, to declare his allegiance to al-Qaeda in 2017.
Bisara said that he was initially sceptical of the information, but added that it turned out to be true as the Indian security agencies were able to thwart the attack.
The former envoy said that the reason behind the tip-off was that ISI wanted to convey to the Indian establishment it was not involved in the planned attacks, and was hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2019 Pulwama attacks, in which 40 Indian security personnel were killed, prompting air strikes by India at Balakot.
&ldquo;I asked if this information had been conveyed through the normal military channels, the DGMO hotline. I was told it might have been, but that the ISI leadership was keen to escalate the information to my level so that I could convey this to India. At this point, Asim Munir was the DG of the ISI. I passed on this information to India, concerned this was some kind of game,&rdquo; he writes, according to Indian Express newspaper.
&ldquo;It turned out that this was a genuine enough tip-off when an attack was indeed attempted close to the predicted time and place. This was an unusual input that Pakistan seemed to be giving to India. One theory about why the high commission was used as a channel was that the ISI was taking no chances and wanted no repeat of Pulwama; it wanted to make it clear at a political level it was not involved with the revenge attack being planned, but was only giving India a friendly tip-off with a piece of intercepted intelligence,&rdquo; he writes.
In another excerpt, Bisaria revealed that "General (Qamar Javed) Bajwa, the army chief, through the ISI, was trying to improve the atmospherics in the relationship in the run-up to the Bishkek summit of 14 June, hoping that Pakistan&rsquo;s sincerity about trying to better relations would register on the Indian side. Perhaps coincidentally, a day before the attack, the ISI chief, Asim Munir, lost his job."

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday said that the 40 CRPF personnel died because of the 'blatant intelligence failure' in the Pulwama attack.
The Rajya Sabha MP attacked the BJP while paying homage to the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack on its fourth death anniversary.
Singh's tweet comes nearly a month after his statement on the same attack during the final leg of the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra, in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Congress party had distanced itself from Singh's comment on the Pulwama attack.&nbsp;

Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Sunday.
The encounter broke out Saturday in Drabgam area of the south Kashmir district and one terrorist was killed before the night fell, they said.
A police official said a tight cordon was maintained during the night to stop the terrorists from fleeing, and when the firing resumed early Sunday morning two more terrorists were killed.
Kashmir Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said all three are locals, linked with the terror outfit LeT.
"One of them has been identified as Junaid Sheergojri, involved in #killing of our colleague #Martyr Reyaz Ahmad on 13/5/22,” he tweeted.
The two others have been identified as Fazil Nazir Bhat and Irfan Ahmad Malik, he said.
The exchange of fire had begun Saturday after security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Drabgam area of the south Kashmir district following inputs about the presence of terrorists there.
The IGP said the police have also recovered incriminating material, arms and ammunition including two AK 47 rifles and one pistol during the operation.

A Pulwama-style terror strike was averted by the Indian Army with the recovery of 52 kg of explosives on Thursday in Kashmir's Karewa area, Army officials said

A Pulwama-style terror strike was averted by the Indian Army with the recovery of 52 kg of explosives on Thursday in Kashmir's Karewa area, Army officials said. Karewa is not very far from the site of last year's dastardly attack. Army said the explosives were recovered near the Jammu and Kashmir highway. The explosives were found in a Syntex water tank at Karewa area of Gadikal during a search operation on Thursday morning. "There were 416 packets of explosives with each one of them weighing 125gm," said an official, adding another 50 detonators were recovered in another Syntex tank in the area in subsequent searches.

New Delhi, PTI: A Pulwama-style terror strike was averted by the Indian Army with the recovery of 52 kg of explosives on Thursday in Kashmir's Karewa area, Army officials said. Karewa is not very far from the site of last year's dastardly attack.
Army said the location where the explosives were recovered was near the Jammu and Kashmir highway and around 9 KM from the spot of the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed.
"We have averted another Pulwama-type attack," said an Army official.
The officials said the explosives were found in a Syntex water tank at Karewa area of Gadikal during a search operation on Thursday morning.
"There were 416 packets of explosives with each one of them weighing 125gm," said an official, adding another 50 detonators were recovered in another Syntex tank in the area in subsequent searches.
The explosives are called "Super-90" or S-90 in short, the official said.
On February 14 last year, a suicide bomber had rammed an explosive-laden car into a CRPF convoy in Pulwama killing 40 soldiers. It was one of the deadliest attacks in Kashmir in recent years.
Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) had taken responsibility for the attack. Twelve days after the strike, India's warplanes pounded a JeM terrorist training camp deep inside Pakistan that had triggered massive escalation in tension between the two countries.
Last month, the NIA filed a charge sheet in the case, detailing how the attack was planned and executed by JeM. The NIA named Masood Azhar, his brother Abdul Rauf Asghar and several others in the charge sheet.
