SS Rajamouli&rsquo;s magnum opus &lsquo;RRR&rsquo; failed to earn a nomination at Producers Guild Awards 2023

&lsquo;Top Gun: Maverick&rsquo;, Steven Spielberg&rsquo;s &lsquo;The Fabelmans&rsquo;, &lsquo;The Banshees of Inisherin&rsquo;, &lsquo;Everything Everywhere All At Once&rsquo; and &lsquo;T&aacute;r&rsquo; have been nominated for the Producers Guild of America&rsquo;s top honour, the organization announced on Thursday. However, SS Rajamouli&rsquo;s magnum opus &lsquo;RRR&rsquo; failed to earn a nomination. The film also failed to get a nod at Directors Guild of America (DGA), which is considered a barometer for upcoming Oscar nominations.
&lsquo;RRR&rsquo; with great word of mouth has attracted a major fanbase worldwide. Ram Charan-Jr NTR starrer won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, and Rajamouli won the Best Director award at the New York Film Critics Circle honours. The blockbuster also advanced in recently announced Academy&rsquo;s shortlists.
The nominations for Oscars 2023 will be announced on January 24.
The Producers Guild nominates 10 films annually for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. &lsquo;Avatar: The Way of Water&rsquo;, &lsquo;Black Panther: Wakanda Forever&rsquo;, &lsquo;Elvis&rsquo;, &lsquo;Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery&rsquo; and &lsquo;The Whale&rsquo; were also nominated and all films are hoping to be in the best picture Oscar race.
The PGA also recognizes television programs. Television dramas nominated included &lsquo;Andor&rsquo;, &lsquo;Better Call Saul&rsquo;, &lsquo;Ozark&rsquo;, &lsquo;Severance&rsquo; and &lsquo;The White Lotus&rsquo;. Comedies were &lsquo;Abbott Elementary&rsquo;, &lsquo;Barry&rsquo;, &lsquo;The Bear&rsquo;, &lsquo;Hacks&rsquo; and &lsquo;Only Murders in the Building&rsquo;.
The Producers Guild Awards will be handed out at an untelevised ceremony in Los Angeles on February 25. Tom Cruise will be honoured with the David O. Selznick Achievement Award.

The incident took place when the shooting was going on&nbsp;at the Old Jail in Arera Hills area of Bhopal when the activists suddenly break into the premises and attacked filmmaker Prakash&nbsp;Jha&nbsp;and other crew members on the sets.
The Producers Guild of India condemned the vicious attack in an official statement and said, &ldquo;The Producers Guild of India strongly condemns the brazen acts of violence, harassment and vandalism faced by the crew involved in the production of the series Aashram in Bhopal. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident and the Guild is alarmed to note the frequency with which the production and exhibition sectors are severely and illegally disrupted by various elements with impunity".
It has also asked the concerned authorities to take immediate action against the perpetrators. After the immense success of Ashram 1 and 2, the makers have decided to launch its third season. In the web series, actor Bobby Deol&nbsp;essays the role of treacherous Nirala Baba from Kashipur. According to Prakash&nbsp;Jha, the plot in Ashram 3 revolved around the character of Bobby Deol&nbsp;and his downfall.&nbsp;

The Producers Guild of India has shared an open letter, two months after Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death sparked the nepotism&nbsp;debate.
Producers Guild wrote that 'Bollywood is one of the most important sources of soft power for the nation at a global level' and has brought joy, honour and glory to the nation.
Highlighting the positive aspects of the industry, the Guild added that the film industry employs hundreds of thousands of people, boosts travel and tourism.&nbsp;
It said that though the film industry is not perfect, it ultimately rewards talent, work ethic and one's ability to connect with an audience
