Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived for a meeting of the NDA in New Delhi just as a 2-day conclave of 26 Opposition parties concluded in Bengaluru.&nbsp;
Leaders of 38 parties joined a meeting of the BJP-led NDA, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserting that the bloc is a time-tested alliance that seeks to further national progress and fulfil regional aspirations.
Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by BJP president J P Nadda, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, former Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK leader K Palaniswami and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
The meeting coincides with the mega opposition conclave in Bengaluru and is seen as a show of strength by the ruling party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the coming together of NDA allies is a matter of "immense joy".
He tweeted, "It is a matter of immense joy that our valued NDA partners from across India will be attending the meeting in Delhi today. Ours is a time-tested alliance which seeks to further national progress and fulfil regional aspirations." Union minister Pralhad Joshi and BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde welcomed the leaders, from the BJP as well as allies, who arrived at the venue of the meeting.
This will be the first such meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance during the second term of the Modi government.
It underscores the ruling party's focus on highlighting its ability to make alliances at a time when opposition parties were coming together to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden addressed a crowd outside the White House before holding talks. The PM said both the nations were proud of their diversity, and in a post Covid-era, the two have worked for the global good.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a grand welcome as he arrived at the White House on his maiden pomp-filled state visit on Thursday to hold high-level talks with President Joe Biden, aimed at further boosting the Indo-US strategic relations.
PM Modi was received by US President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on the South Lawn of the White House.
A lavish display of the bilateral relationship marked by marching bands and a 21-gun salute to Modi on the South Lawn. The two national anthems were played during the ceremony.
Both the leaders shook hands with dignitaries present there.
Indian-Americans, who gathered at the South Lawn, chanted &ldquo;USA USA&rdquo; 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Modi Modi'.
Biden in his welcome speech described the US-India ties as a defining relationship.
Biden explained in detail the bilateral relationship and why it is important for not only India, the US and the rest of the world as well.
He hailed the contributions of the Indian diaspora and mentioned the large number of Indian-Americans in his administration including Vice President Kamala Harris.
Prime Minister Modi thanked President Biden for the friendship and greeted Indian-Americans filled with enthusiasm.
"The welcome is an honour and pride for the 1.4 billion people of India and for the 4 million Indian-Americans living in the US," the Prime Minister said.
He spoke about the common values of India and the United States.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fresh broadside against the Opposition in Rajya Sabha on Thursday, saying the more "keechad" (dirt) they will fling, the bigger "kamal" (lotus) will bloom.
Amid slogan shouting by MPs from TMC, Congress and other opposition parties from the Well of the House, Modi began replying to the debate on the motion thanking the President for her address to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at the start of the Budget Session and accused the Congress of adopting only "tokenism" to solving problems the country faced.
"Keechad unke pass tha, mere pass gulal. Jo jis ke pass tha, usne diya uchal," Modi quoted Manik Verma's poem in response to the allegations opposition parties levelled on him and his government.
Roughly translated, it means they had dirt and I had 'gulal', whosoever had whatever they flung in the air.
"Jitna keechad uchaloge, kamal utna hee zyada khilega (the more dirt you fling, the bigger kamal - the election symbol of BJP - will bloom)," he said as opposition MPs shouted slogans linking the prime minister to billionaire tycoon Gautam Adani and seeking a joint parliamentary committee probe into allegations levelled by the US short-seller Hindenburg Research.
Opposition parties used the debate on the motion to attack Modi and the government for aiding Adani's phenomenal rise during the last few years.
In his reply, Modi recounted the achievements of his government - from eliminating waiting for getting cooking gas to opening bank accounts for everyone and providing electricity connections.
The effort was to create a brighter future and not look at political gains, he said.
"Some people's behaviour and language are disappointing not just for the House but for the country," he said in an oblique reference to the allegations opposition parties levelled on him.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and raised a host of issues concerning her state, including GST dues and timely release of funds by the Centre under various schemes.
The Prime Minister's Office shared a picture of the meeting, which lasted about an hour.
In a memorandum to the prime minister, Banerjee said she had repeatedly sought his intervention for urgent release of funds due to the state on account of the implementation of the rural job scheme MGNREGA, PM Awas Yojana and the PM Gramin Sadak Yojana.
The amount due to the state under these schemes now stood at about Rs 17,996.32 crore, she said.
In her memorandum, Banerjee has tabulated the total amount due to the state under different schemes and benefits. The amount that is due to the state from the central government as on 31st July, 2022 has been estimated to be around Rs 1,00,968.44 crore.
Banerjee has often accused the BJP-led central government of delaying the payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST) dues to states, especially the ones ruled by opposition parties.
After the meeting, Banerjee directly went to meet President Droupadi Murmu.
Banerjee, who arrived here on a four-day visit on Thursday, is likely to attend a Niti Aayog governing council meeting on August 7 to be chaired by Prime Minister Modi. She did not attend the meeting last year.
Banerjee's meeting with the prime minister came close on the heels of the Enforcement Directorate arresting now-removed West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee and recovering huge cash and jewellery in connection with an alleged school jobs scam.
However, it was not known if the issue featured in the meeting.
Banerjee's meeting also holds importance ahead of the August 6 vice-presidential poll, from which her Trinamool Congress party has decided to abstain.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has fielded former West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar as its vice-presidential candidate while the opposition parties have nominated Margaret Alva.

Murmu has become India's first tribal President.

The govt sources further clarified that it's no the Modi government that selects Tableaux for the parade. The tableaux proposals received from various states and central ministries are evaluated in a series of meetings of the Expert Committee comprising eminent people in the field of art, culture, sculpture, music, architecture, choreography, etc.
