After the voting, Xi signed a Presidential decree appointing Li Qiang as Premier following which he took a pledge of allegiance to the Constitution.

China's parliament on Saturday confirmed President Xi Jinping&rsquo;s trusted ally Li Qiang as the new Premier to revive the world's second-largest economy hit by three years of 'zero-Covid' restrictions and worsening relations with the West.
Li Qiang, 63, succeeds Li Keqiang, 67, who held the post for the last 10 years.
The annual session of the National People&rsquo;s Congress (NPC), a largely ceremonial body which routinely passes the proposals of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC), approved Li Qiang&rsquo;s candidature after his name was proposed by Xi himself.
However, his &ldquo;election&rdquo; unlike that of Xi was not unanimous.
He was endorsed by 2,936 of the 2,947 NPC members who attended Saturday&rsquo;s meeting, with three voting against and eight abstaining, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post newspaper reported.
After the voting, Xi signed a Presidential decree appointing Li Qiang as Premier following which he took a pledge of allegiance to the Constitution.
Later Xi shook hands with Li Qiang in brief video clips shown on national television.

The most talked about movie Aamir Khan starrer 'Laal Singh Chadha' is finally about to be released today. The film has been making headlines since the day it was announced, the actor has left nothing in terms of the promotion of the film as it is going through a lot of backlashes on the internet, and the makers have kept a premiere of the film before the film is presented in front of the audience.  Apart from Aamir and Kareena Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya also can be seen in pivotal roles.  According to the pictures shared the premier event was grazed by Saif Ali Khan, Kiran Rao, and many more celebs.  Indie Wire’s Proma Khosla wrote in her review, “Instead of a box of chocolates or the obvious Indian equivalent, the film takes things a step further, adding strong depth and resonance to what could otherwise have been an unremarkable adaptation.” She further added, “'Laal Singh Chaddha' measures its emotional beats tactically, deploying poignant punches sporadically throughout.”  Fred Topel of United Press International is also affected as he mentioned in his review, “'Laal Singh Chaddha' is faithful to 'Forrest Gump' from the floating feather to the plot structure. Since the history is less vital to the narrative, it gives the story itself more weight, with some new thematic context.”  Meanwhile, talking about Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's upcoming film is an official Hindi adaptation of the popular Hollywood classic ‘The Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks. 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is all set to release on August 11. The film will see a Box Office clash with Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar's 'Raksha Bandhan'.

'Laal Singh Chaddha' is clashing with Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar's 'Raksha Bandhan' at the box office.  

'Laal Singh Chadha' has been making headlines for the last few weeks over Aamir Khan's 2015 statement on 'growing intolerence' in the country.

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer 'Laal Singh Chadha' is finally in theatres. A day before presenting the film in front of the audience, the makers hosted a premiere of the film in Mumbai which was attended by the cast of the film and celebrities like Saif Ali Khan, Kiran Rao, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh among others.
Kareena looked gorgeous in a white-coloured salwar-kameez as she posed with husband Saif, who looked dapper in a blue shirt paired with denim. She also posed with her co-star Aamir Khan.
Kiran Rao, the 'PK' actor's former wife, was also present at the event.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh too made a stylish entry at the star-studded event. The 'Simmba' actor's mother Anju Bhavnani, sister Ritika Bhavnani, and father Jagjit Bhavnani also dressed up in their stylish best as they attended the event.
