<p>Prateik Babbar made heads turn at 'Manthan' screening after he picked his late mom Smita Patil's kanjeeveram sarees and repurposed them to make a suit-pant. 'Manthan' was screened in the classics section at the Cannes Film Festival. The film recently had its premiere in India.</p>
<p>The actor's suit and pants were designed by designer Rahul, who did a magnificent job! Here is a breakup of the actor's outfit.</p>

<p>Prateik Babbar wore a gorgeous kanjeeveram suit which was made from his mom's saree. Sharing details of his outfit, Prateik's designer Rahul wrote, "Thank you @_prat for letting me dig into the archives of your late mother, and the very iconic #SmitaPatil. When Prateik called me up asking me to dress him up for the Indian premiere of #Manthan, #SmitaPatil&rsquo;s first movie that was shown at the recent Cannes Film Festival, I knew I had to bring in elements of Smita Patil&rsquo;s style into his look. Now this was challenging because we were getting womenswear pieces &amp; moreover we didn&rsquo;t know what we would end up finding from Smita Patil&rsquo;s wardrobe that would match Prateiks style. Prateiks aunt was kind enough to give us eight sarees to play around with. We narrowed down on two beautiful silk Kanjeevaram sarees. One had this pinstripe pattern all over in a dark maroon &amp; black, and the other one was a plain black silk saree-both preserved to perfection. Next, the challenge was to think of a silhouette or design that would do justice to the sarees and would also not compromise on Prateiks style. After much back &amp; forth with designers, I finally called up @monicashah1207 of @jade_bymk who instantly said yes! Thank you Monica for doing this for us in record 48 hours! The next step was to look into archives of @jade_bymk ."</p>
<p>His post further detailed how he made the suit with precision. "We wanted to keep the silhouette very very modern considering we were recycling Indian sarees. I always like the juxtaposition of Indian textiles on modern silhouettes. And finally we decided on a cropped double breasted tuxedo in plain black silk &amp; we recycled the second pinstriped saree into wide legged pants and used the red border of the saree as trims on the sleeves ( the design was lifted from a recent look that the brand did for their couture collection). Sustainable fashion with an emotional connection, this look has it all! Thank you to everyone at Jade involved with this project and my super super team @disha_punjabi and @simranbhatia28. <p>Fronted by Smita Patil, the film was inspired by the milk cooperative movement of Verghese Kurien, who led 'Operation Flood' to transform India from a milk-deficient country to one of the world's biggest milk producers and is credited for creating the billion-dollar brand Amul.</p>
<p>Co-written by Benegal and Vijay Tendulkar, the film won two National Film Awards in 1977: for Best Feature Film in Hindi and Best Screenplay. It was also India's official entry to the 1976 Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category.</p>

He will now be known as Prateik Patil Babbar and this is already reflected on his Instagram page.<br><br>According to DNA, Prateik in a statement said, &lsquo;With the blessings of my father and my entire family, my late maternal grandparents and my late mother, I have decided to add my mother's last name as my middle name, giving birth to my new screen name &lsquo;Prateik Patil Babbar&rsquo;.&rsquo;<br><br>Calling his decision 'part superstitious, part sentimental&rsquo;, he added, &lsquo;When my name appears in film credits or anywhere for that matter, I want it to be a reminder to myself, the people, &amp; the audience of her extraordinary &amp; remarkable legacy, of my legacy. <p>Actor Prateik Babbar has made his relationship with Priya Banerjee public on the occasion of Valentine's Day. He confirmed the dating rumours on Tuesday by sharing their first photo on Instagram. <p>Talking about accepting this role, he said, &lsquo;I was also extremely invested because the first time I met Madhur sir, he said, &lsquo;Prateik teri maa aise kirdaar nibhaati thi. Tu agar ye jee-jaan se karega to ye tribute ho sakta hai Smita Patil ko (your mother used to play such roles. If you do it with full honesty, it can be a tribute to Smita Patil)&rsquo;. And I just said, when do we start? Every single day on set, I used to think about her. Every single day! Whatever the outcome of the film be, this character is dedicated to this community and my mother.&rsquo;</p>
<p>The actor&rsquo;s mother, Smita Patil, was considered one of the best actors in Hindi cinema. She was well-known for films like &lsquo;Mandi, Manthan&rsquo;, &lsquo;Mirch Masala&rsquo; and many more.</p>
<p>Sai Tamhankar, who plays the role of a domestic help and Prateik&rsquo;s wife in the film, talks about the hardships they had to face while shooting outdoors, and the challenges she faced to get into the character&rsquo;s mind set.</p>

<p>The trailer of the Madhur Bhandarkar&rsquo;s 'India Lockdown', starring Shweta Basu Prasad, Prateik Babbar, and Ahana Kumra among others has been unveiled. The Zee5 film is based on the initial days of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic when the government called for a 21-day lockdown across the country.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The trailer shows how people from various backgrounds - a pilot, a sex worker, a daily-wage labourer, a house worker, and a mother, are trying to cope up with the new &lsquo;normal&rsquo;.</p>
<p>It has shown an overflow of emotions as the four narratives move ahead parallelly. It has scary visuals of migrant workers, daily workers, who were laid off at that time, and the plight of sex workers who fought for their survival. The film will bring the tales of how lives were changed &lsquo;irreversibly&rsquo; for many.</p>
