A day after a noted Tamil nationalist leader claimed that LTTE's Velupillai Prabhakaran is alive, Sri Lanka reacted to the remark.&nbsp;
The island nation's Defence Ministry dismissed the claim as a 'joke' stating that DNA proof exists to assert that Prabhakaran was killed in 2009.
"It is confirmed that he was killed on 19 May 2009. The DNA has proved it," Colonel Nalin Herath, Sri Lanka's defence ministry spokesman told news agency PTI in Colombo.

Pazha Nedumaran, president of the World Tamil Federation, said on 13 February 2023 that Prabhakaran is alive and well.
Prabhakaran would soon announce a plan for the "liberation" of the Tamil race, and he should be supported by all Tamil people, Nedumaran was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Nedumaran said that the political atmosphere and fierce opposition to the Rajpaksas by the Sinhalese people in Sri Lanka has created the right conditions for the leader of the Eelam Tamils, Prabhakaran, to emerge.&nbsp;
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam was a guerrilla outfit that tried to establish a separate Tamil state in northern and eastern Sri Lanka. 'Eelam' in Tamil denotes the homeland of the Tamil people.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Alagiri said, "I am very happy. If Pazha Nedumaran shows me Prabhakaran, I will go and see him. No problem."

Hours after Pazha Nedumaran, chief of &nbsp;Tamil Nationalist Movement on Monday claimed that leader of outlawed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam Velupillai Prabhakaran was healthy and fine Tamil Nadu Congress chief, KS Alagiri has said, if Nedumaran shows him Prabhakaran, he will go and see him.&nbsp;
Speaking to the news agency ANI, Alagiri said, "I am very happy. If Pazha Nedumaran shows me Prabhakaran, I will go and see him. No problem."
Earlier in the day, Nedumaran made sensational revelations that Prabhakaran, who was killed in 2009 is alive and the plan for Tamils will soon be made public.&nbsp;

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam was a guerrilla outfit that tried to establish a separate Tamil state in northern and eastern Sri Lanka.

LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, who was claimed to have been killed in 2009 by the Sri Lankan military, is actually alive, according to a top Tamil Nationalist leader.
Pazha Nedumaran, president of the World Tamil Federation, said on 13 February 2023 that Prabhakaran is alive and well. Prabhakaran would soon announce a plan for the "liberation" of the Tamil race, and he should be supported by all Tamil people, Nedumaran was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Till such time the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was powerful, they did not allow any forces inimical to India to find a toehold in the regions held by them in Sri Lanka, he said. They not only opposed such forces but also have not received any support from such nations opposed to India, he added.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) had provided Indian football team coach Igor Stimac a contract extension proposal where he has to either take Team India to the quarter finals of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup or take the sack.

Team India are currently in a training camp in Kolkata where the men in blue are preparing for their Vietnam tour where they will face Singapore and Vietnam in friendlies
