While his teammate&nbsp;Kieron&nbsp;Pollard downplayed the injury and said that the Hitman&nbsp;will be back soon to lead the&nbsp;Mumbai Indians, his omission from the team for the Australia tour now casts doubt about his availability. The BCCI confirmed that their medical team is monitoring both Ishant&nbsp;Sharma&nbsp;and Rohit&nbsp;Sharma's&nbsp;injury. Last years finalist meet again in the first game of IPL&nbsp;2020. Defending Champions Mumbai&nbsp;Indians play 3-time winners Chennai Super Kings in Abu&nbsp;Dhabi&nbsp;as the match promises a cracking start to the tournament which was delayed due to the global pandemic by over 6 months. Rohit&nbsp;Sharma will be in command of the Mumbai&nbsp;Indians as usual as the team aims for their 5th IPL&nbsp;title. The Pandya&nbsp;brothers are also fit and raring to go and they along with Keiron&nbsp;Pollard make up one of the strongest middle order in the competition. Bolstered by the presence of Chris Lynn as an opener, Rohit&nbsp;Sharma&nbsp;can give the team a flying start. The spin bowling department though looks slightly weak as they miss an experienced campaigner. The fast bowling unit also looks strong led by Jasprit&nbsp;Bumrah.&nbsp;Apart from senior statesman Lasith&nbsp;Malinga who opted out due to personal reasons, the Mumbai&nbsp;squad is as strong as ever. Chennai Super Kings on the other hand are struggling to find replacements. After the shock departure of Suresh&nbsp;Raina, there is no strong candidate who can replace the veteran southpaw. Harbhajan&nbsp;Singh&nbsp;also pulled out which leaves the spin department in a bit of a spot. But everyone knows that when the situation is tough, there is no one better to handle the problems like MS Dhoni. The former India captain who has also won the IPL&nbsp;title thrice will be hoping for an encore but in 2020, the team needs a Herculean&nbsp;effort to&nbsp;register title number 4.&nbsp;

One IPL side which has made it a habit of starting off slow but peaking&nbsp;just at the right moment in the tournament is the Mumbai&nbsp;Indians. A&nbsp;solid nucleus of players has made sure that Mumbai&nbsp;reached the playoffs in 8 of the last 10 editions, winning 4 of them.
They may be the most successful&nbsp;IPL&nbsp;franchise, but things weren't the same to start with. Despite putting forward a brilliant show each year, MI failed to get their hands on the silverware in the first 5 editions.&nbsp;Their fortunes turned around when Rohit&nbsp;Sharma&nbsp;took over as the skipper. They were crowned the champions in his very first season in charge and once Mumbai&nbsp;got the taste of success, they were hungry for more.&nbsp;
MI won the IPL&nbsp;every alternate year after that and are the defending champions. Apart from their captain, all-rounders&nbsp;form their core group. Pandya&nbsp;brothers and Kieron&nbsp;Pollard have single-handedly&nbsp;decimated oppositions on several occasions. India's premier fast bowler Jasprit&nbsp;Bumrah&nbsp;will once again spearhead the pace attack and&nbsp;Mumbai&nbsp;has further strengthened it by roping in Trent Boult&nbsp;and&nbsp;Nathan Coulter-Nile. Though they will miss the services of IPL's&nbsp;highest wicket-taker Lasith&nbsp;Malinga who has opted out of this edition.
But the 4-time champions look a little weak when it comes to their&nbsp;spinners. Given the turning tracks in UAE, just&nbsp;Jayant Yadav and&nbsp;Rahul Chahar as front-line&nbsp;spinners may be an issue. Though&nbsp;Anukul Roy and Krunal Pandya&nbsp;are good 6th bowling options to have but the team can't completely depend on them.&nbsp;
Never the less, Mumbai&nbsp;have proved their critics wrong many times and they look too good of a side to not go a long way in IPL 2020.
