Published in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical &amp; Experimental Research, the study suggests that perfectionism may increase a person&rsquo;s vulnerability to excessive alcohol use.
For the study, researchers looked at two groups of 65 adults; one consisted of people who suffer from AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder) and the other without.&nbsp;
Researchers found that 79 per cent of respondents with AUD exhibited greater self-oriented perfectionism. They also concluded that perfectionism is associated with self-criticism, high expectations and mental health problems, which in turn can tip people over the line when it comes to alcohol.&nbsp;
