In a high-risk mission, Army Aviation helicopters rescued civilians and CRPF personnel from a collapsing flood-hit building in Pathankot, Punjab.

Despite dangerous flying conditions, the Indian Army Aviation on Wednesday undertook a "high-risk" helicopter rescue operation in Punjab's Pathankot district and evacuated stranded civilians and CRPF personnel from a building surrounded by floodwaters that gave way shortly after, officials said.
The Indian Army shared visuals of the daring feat that demanded "highest level of flying skills and unmatched bravery" on its X handle.

At dawn on Wednesday, Army Aviation helicopters were launched for the rescue mission that tested nerves, skill and determination, officials said.
The Army Aviation undertook the "high-risk helicopter rescue operation, evacuating stranded civilians and CRPF personnel from a building surrounded by raging floodwaters and at imminent risk of collapse" at Madhopur Headworks -- a barrage on the Ravi river at Madhopur in Pathankot.
"Braving challenging weather and rapidly rising waters, the team's swift and fearless response ensured that every life was brought to safety," the Army said.
Despite dangerous flying conditions, Army pilots landed the helicopter on the building that was already on the verge of collapse, a feat demanding the highest level of flying skills and unmatched bravery, it posted on X.
Risking their lives, the soldiers ensured that every single stranded person was lifted to safety, officials said.
"In a chilling reminder of what was at stake, the very building on which the helicopter had landed gave way shortly after the evacuation, highlighting the timely and decisive rescue effort," said the post with the tagline -- "Any Mission, Any Time, Any Where".&nbsp;

Shahid Latif, the mastermind of the 2016 attack on the Pathankot air base, has been killed in Pakistan

Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Shahid Latif, believed to be the mastermind of the 2016 attack on an Indian Air Force base in Pathankot, was gunned down on Wednesday by unidentified assailants in a mosque in Daska town of Pakistan's Sialkot district, officials said.
Latif, alias Bilal, a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, is learnt to have been shot dead along with two of his associates by three gunmen.
He had infiltrated into the Kashmir Valley in 1993 and was arrested a year later. He was in Jammu jail with Masood Azhar, founder of the JeM, till 2010, officials said.
He was deported to Pakistan in 2010 following his release and formally joined the terror group, they said.
"This is the biggest blow to JeM on Pakistan soil," an official said.
Latif was wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Seven IAF personnel were killed when four JeM terrorists sneaked into the Pathankot Air Force Station on January 2, 2016. The siege went on for three days.

The convicts included mastermind Sanjhi Ram and two others for gangrape and murder. Three cops have also been convicted for destruction of evidence. Sanjhi ram's son Vishal has been let off. The convicts face life term to death penalty. Quantum of punishment will be announced at 2 pm.

A Pathankot court will today deliver verdict in the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua of Jammu and Kashmir last year. 8-yr-old girl from the nomad community was abducted, drugged and raped for several before being killed. The case had triggered widespread especially after some BJP leaders held rallies in support of the rape accused. The Supreme Court had shifted the trial to Pathankot over fears that free and fair trial may not be possible in Jammu. 5 people, including a juvenile and 2 SPOs, are accused in the case. 2 cops are also accused of destroying the evidence in the case
