A confrontation between a Rapido driver and passenger in Jayanagar over alleged reckless driving has sparked a police probe.

A viral altercation between a Rapido driver and a passenger over rash driving has led to a police investigation.

A Rapido bike taxi rider was caught on camera for allegedly slapping a woman passenger following an argument between them over rash driving, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on June 13 when the woman, who works as a saleswoman at a jewellery shop in Jayanagar, was en route to her workplace, they said.
Owing to his alleged rash driving, she got off mid-ride and confronted him, leading to a heated argument between them. The woman reportedly also refused to pay the fare and return the helmet, police said.
When contacted, Rapido preferred not to comment on the matter, citing it as a police case.
A video of the incident that has gone viral on social media platforms showed the biker slapping the woman. The impact of the assault was such that she fell on the ground. Now, a new CCTV footage has surfaced in which the woman could be seen hitting the rider.
"We are looking into the allegations and a detailed investigation is underway. All videos and CCTV footages related to the incident are being looked into," a senior police officer said.
According to the police, when the matter came to light, both the woman and the rider were brought to Jayanagar police station.
The woman claimed that the rider was driving rashly and jumped signals. When she questioned him, an argument broke out between them and he slapped her, a senior police officer said.
Despite persuading the woman, she initially refused to give a complaint. However, police filed a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) in the matter. Later, a notice was also sent to her to give a complaint, so that an FIR can be registered and further investigation can be carried out, he said.
Based on the complaint lodged by the woman, a case was registered against the accused bike taxi rider on Monday under sections 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, said Lokesh B Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).
"On 13th of this month at 10 am, there was an argument and altercation. It was followed by the slapping of a woman by a Rapido driver. On asking the woman to register an FIR that day at Jayanagar police station, she refused to do so. However, today she has come forward to register a case in this regard.
The facts of the case are such that on 13th morning, the woman had objected to the unsafe riding of the driver, following which an altercation had ensued. He slapped her. Regarding this, the investigation is underway and the accused is being questioned and legal action will be taken as per law," he said in a video statement.
After getting the FIR registered, the woman narrated Friday's incident and alleged that she felt the ride was "unsafe".
"He (driver) was not using Google map nor following the location. He was taking me through another route. Then I told him to stop at Jayanagar 3rd block. He was taking a wrong route. Near a signal he was supposed to take a U-turn, which he didn't. I felt it to be an unsafe ride. I got down and questioned him about his driving. I told him not to drive like that, it is unsafe because I am the customer, I have to go forward," she told reporters here.
She further alleged that the rider started asking her how she could behave like this? "He told me to get out of the country if I didn't know Kannada. I did not hit him nor do anything nonsense which might hurt him, but I held him by the shirt collar. He hit me and then I fell down. After that, in self-defence, I hit him," she added.
The woman claimed that she did not hit him with a lunch box as alleged by the rider.
"He was talking in a rude manner. I felt unsafe and I also spoke to a woman in customer care who apologised to me," she added.
According to police, the rider has not given a counter complaint yet in this regard.
In a video statement released by him, the rider narrated his side of the incident and claimed, "She was asking me to stop the bike. I told her to please wait for some time. I will stop it...I stopped 100 meters away from her office. She asked me what my educational qualification is. Don't you know how to drive? I told her that it was a shortcut, so I brought her through this route. She did not allow me to speak and was speaking in a harsh manner. I got angry and told her to go back to her country." According to him, when she asked him about the fare ride, he told her that it was Rs 77. She kept abusing him and threatened to lodge a police complaint.
"She attacked me. I told her that she did not have the right to beat me. She assaulted me with her tiffin box. So, finally, I too got angry. People there told me not to raise my hand on her, but they also said that whatever she was doing was wrong. It was she who attacked me first. Not once but twice. She tried to grab my collar and started raising her voice. I asked her to calm down," he added.

An unruly individual forced co-passengers to take action on American Airlines flight 1219 from from Albuquerque to Chicago on February 20.
Half an hour into the flight, a man tried to open the emergency exit mid-air, according to multiple passenger accounts. Co-passengers jumped into action and duct-taped the man to his seat.&nbsp;
One of the passengers who helped subdue the individual, shared his experience on X. "Thirty minutes after departing Albuquerque I was shaken out of my Panda Express and Tequila induced stupor by a man trying to aggressively open the airplane door 4 rows back. Me and 5 other dudes had to wrestle him into the aisle, duct tape his legs, and throw flexi-cuffs on him," he said.
The incident prompted the airline to turn back and land in Albuquerque. The man was arrested by local law enforcement upon arrival, with the FBI's Albuquerque Division taking charge of the investigation.
A spokesperson for American Airlines spoke to DailyMail and said, "American Airlines flight 1219 with service from Albuquerque (ABQ) to Chicago (ORD) returned to ABQ shortly after takeoff due to a disturbance in the cabin involving a disruptive customer. The flight landed safely and the aircraft was met by local law enforcement upon arrival."

'Drunk' woman passenger arrested for assaulting crew, walking semi-naked on Vistara flight: report

In yet another mid-air drama, an Italian woman passenger created a ruckus and allegedly punched, spat, and stripped half-naked on a Vistara flight UK 256 operating from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai on January 30 in a drunken state, according to the India Today report.
The woman identified as Paola Perruccio, reportedly insisted on sitting in business class despite having an economy class ticket. She was arrested by Sahar Police but later released on bail, the report added.

Amid the ongoing controversy around men urinating on female co-passengers on Air India flights, a woman has alleged misbehaviour by a male passenger on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Delhi.&nbsp;
The woman did not mention the exact date of the flight but said that incident took place 3 weeks ago.&nbsp;
Upasana, an associate at the Albright Stonebridge Group according to her Twitter profile, on January 7 tweeted that the man wanted to exchange his middle seat with her aisle seat which she had paid for beforehand. When she refused, he told her that she should shift to the middle seat because she is woman, Upsana claimed in one of her tweets.&nbsp;

On her repeated refusal, the man then asked her not to blame him when he is drunk on the middle seat.&nbsp;
Upsana goes on to write that the Emirates crew offered her another seat after much reluctance and even when they did, the new seat was right in front of the man who had threatened to misbehave.&nbsp;
She also mentioned that the man who threatened to misbehave after drinking was served alcohol by the crew.&nbsp;
On January 9, Upasana once again took to Twitter saying that Emirates is yet to reach out to her inspite of telling her that they have filed a report. She added that she is terrified to fly Emirates once again this week.&nbsp;
Responding to woman's complaint, Emirates asked her to submit her details for them to look into the matter.

Air India has banned the man who allegedly urinated on an elderly woman during a flight for 30 days. The man was reportedly drunk and also exposed his private parts to her on a flight from New York to Delhi in November 2022. The airlines, in an official statement, said that they have taken very serious note of the incident that has caused extreme distress to the woman.
"Air India has taken a very serious note of the incident, where a passenger behaved in an unacceptable and undignified manner on the New York-Delhi flight that caused extreme distress to a fellow passenger.
A police complaint has already been lodged in this case and Air India is committed to assisting the law enforcement agencies as well as regulatory authorities to ensure that justice is delivered to the aggrieved passenger," the Air India spokesperson said adding that they have reported the matter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for further action.

"We have also constituted an internal committee to probe lapses on the part of Air India's crew and address the deficiencies that delayed quick redressal of the situation. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has also registered the FIR under sections 354, 509, 510 of the Indian Penal Code and 23 of the Indian Aircraft Act, against the man, who, in an inebriated state onboard an Air India US flight urinated on a woman co-passenger, a senior citizen, seated in the business class seat.

As per a report by The Washington Post, the 33-year-old passenger identified as Alexander Tung Cuu Le, a resident of California, was flying to Los Angeles from Los Cabos in Mexico on an American Airlines flight 377.&nbsp;
The episode began 20 minutes after Flight 377 left Los Cabos airport. Citing an affidavit filed by the FBI, the outlet said that Mr Le grabbed a flight attendant's shoulder as he was providing food and beverages and asked for coffee. He then walked to the front of the plant and sat in an unoccupied row near the first-class cabin, according to the affidavit. When another flight attendant asked Mr Le to return to his seat, he closed both of his fists and assumed a "fighting stance", the FBI said. The flight attendant then decided to report the behaviour to the pilot and turned around after which Mr Le attacked him, The New York Times reported.&nbsp;

According to The New York Times, the California man has been charged with one count of interference with flight crew members, and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
