Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday congratulated the four distinguished personalities from Uttar Pradesh who were honoured with the Padma Shri award by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.
These four eminent individuals are Dr Shyam Bihari Agrawal, Hriday Narayan Dikshit, Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid, and Dr Satyapal Singh.
In his congratulatory message to former Speaker of UP Legislative Assembly Hriday Narayan Dixit, Adityanath in a post on X in Hindi said, "Heartiest congratulations to Shri Hriday Narayan Dixit on being honoured with the 'Padma Shri' award by Hon'ble President Smt Droupadi Murmu ji in New Delhi today!

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, among others, were present at the function. &nbsp;

Sharing his reaction on receiving Padma Bhushan, Mithun Chakraborty told ANI, "I am very happy. I have never asked anything for myself from anyone in my life. When I got a call that you are being given Padma Bhushan, I was silent for a minute." &nbsp;
&nbsp;Usha Uthup had recently taken the internet by storm as she covered Miley Cyrus&rsquo;s song &lsquo;Flowers&rsquo;. The video of Usha Uthup singing the track went viral and garnered praises. &nbsp;
Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian honours of the country, are conferred in three categories -- Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards are given in various disciplines or fields of activities, viz.- art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. &nbsp;
The Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service, the Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order and the Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the eve of Republic Day every year. &nbsp;

Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, actors Vyjayantimala Bali and Konidela Chiranjeevi, Sulabh International founder late Bindeshwar Pathak, first woman judge of Supreme Court late M Fathima Beevi and Bombay Samachar owner Hormusji N Cama were among 132 eminent persons awarded Padma awards on Thursday.
Actor Mithun Chakraborty, Foxconn Chairman Young Liu from Taiwan, BJP veteran Ram Naik, actor late Vijaykanth, singer Usha Uthup and philanthropist Kiran Nadar were also awarded the coveted civilian awards on the eve of 75th Republic Day, according to an official statement.
The government already announced on Tuesday that it would confer the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award, on two-time Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur posthumously.
Among the Padma awardees, 34 are unsung heroes including India's first woman elephant mahout Parbati Baruah, famous as "Hasti Kanya", tribal environmentalist Chami Murmu, social worker Sangthankima who runs Mizoram's largest orphanage and plastic surgeon Prema Dhanraj.
Five eminent persons who were awarded country's second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan included Naidu, Bali, Chiranjeevi, Pathak and Bharat Natyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam.
Padma Bhushan was awarded to 17 prominent persons including Beevi, Cama, Chakraborty, Young, Vijaykanth, Uthup, Naik, Group Editor and CEO of Gujarati newspaper Janmabhoomi Kundan Vyas, veteran actor and director Dattatray Ambadas Mayaloo, former Union health minister CP Thakur and BJP leader Olanchery Rajagopal.
Tennis player Rohan Bopanna, Nadar, hockey player Harbinder Singh, professional squash player Joshna Chinappa, first person of Indian origin elected to the Parliament of Papua New Guinea Sasindran Muthuvel, and banker Kalpana Morparia are among 110 personalities awarded Padma Shri.
Rabindra Sangeet exponent from Bangladesh Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, 100-year French Yoga Teacher Charlotte Chopin, singer Surendra Mohan Mishra have been given Padma Shri.
"&lsquo;Padma Vibhushan&rsquo; is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; &lsquo;Padma Bhushan&rsquo; for distinguished service of high order and &lsquo;Padma Shri&rsquo; for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the occasion of the Republic Day every year," the statement said.
It said President Droupadi Murmu has approved conferment of 132 Padma Awards including 30 women and eight persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and nine posthumous awardees.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Congratulations to all those who have been conferred the Padma Awards. India cherishes their contribution across diverse sectors. May they continue to inspire people with their exceptional work." Home Minister Amit Shah said Prime Minister Modi has "rationalized" the Padma Awards ceremony to make it a platform to appreciate individuals setting pioneering examples for social change.
"I extend my warmest congratulations to the change makers of our society who have been selected for the Padma Awards for their distinguished contributions to different fields," Shah said on X.
"The individuals conferred with the Padma Awards have not only created brilliant examples for others to follow but also have elevated the pride of the nation with their service," he said.&nbsp;

Padma awards, one of the highest civilian awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, former External Affairs minister in the UPA government S M Krishna and tabla maestro Zakir Hussain were among six luminaries selected for the country's second highest civilian honour Padma Vibhushan.
According to an official statement released on the eve of Republic Day, Yadav, medical professional Dilip Mahalanabis who returned from the US to serve in 1971-Bangladesh war refugee camps, and noted architect Balkrishna Doshi were selected for the Padma Vibhushan posthumously.
No one has been named for the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his congratulations to those who have been conferred the Padma Awards.
"India cherishes their rich and varied contributions to the nation and their efforts to enhance our growth trajectory," he said.
US-based mathematician Srinivas Varadhan was also selected for the Padma Vibhushan award.
Noted industrialist Kumara Mangalam Birla, novelist S L Bhyrappa and author Sudha Murthy were among nine people awarded Padma Bhushan, the statement said.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala (posthumous), actor Raveena Tandon, Manipur BJP president Thounaojam Chaoba Singh were among 91 luminaries awarded the Padma Shri award.
Music director M M Keeravaani, whose composition for Telugu blockbuster 'RRR' won Golden Globes recently, famous playback singer Suman Kalyanpur, and renowned singer from Tamil Nadu Vani Jairam were also selected for Padma Shri.
Organic farmer from Himachal Pradesh Nekram Sharma, hero of Jharkhand's Ho tribal language Janum Singh Soy was also selected for the Padma Shri.
Eighty-year-old linguistics professor from Telangana B Ramakrishna Reddy, Toto language preserver from West Bengal Dhaniram Toto, and folk dancer from Kodagu in Karnataka Rani Machaiah were also selected for Padma Shri, the statement said.
These awards are conferred by the President at ceremonial functions which are held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March or April every year.
For 2023, the President has approved conferment of 106 Padma awards, including three duo cases (in a duo case, the award is counted as one).
Nineteen of the awardees are women and the list also includes two people from the category of foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and seven posthumous awardees.

 However, CPI(M) leader and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has reportedly refused to accept the award.
 Bhattacharjee reportedly issued a statement saying, "I don't know anything about the Padma Bhushan Award. Nobody told me about it. If I have been awarded the Padma Bhushan, I would reject it."
 Bhattacharjee was Chief Minister of West Bengal from 2002 to 2011.
 The other significant Opposition name in the Padma Bhushan list is Congress' Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
 The other Padma awardees range from politicians to soldiers, and business leaders to sportspersons.
 General Bipin Rawat, India's first Chief of Defence Staff who died in a chopper crash last month, has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Kalyan Singh, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has also been posthumously honoured with the Padma Vibhushan.
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella have been conferred with the Padma Bhushan.
 Vaccine firm Bharat Biotech chairman Krishna Ella, co-founder Suchitra Ella, and Serum Institute of India managing director Cyrus Poonawalla have been awarded the Padma Bhushan.
 Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, and Paralympics gold medalist Avani Lekhara are among the sportspersons being honoured with the Padma Shri.

Just hours after the recipients of the 2022 Padma Awards were announced, a controversy broke out.
This year, one of the nation's highest civilian honours has been conferred on leaders of Opposition parties like the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
However, CPI(M) leader and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has reportedly refused to accept the award.&nbsp;Bhattacharjee reportedly issued a statement saying, "I don't know anything about the Padma Bhushan Award. Nobody told me about it. If I have been awarded the Padma Bhushan, I would reject it."

Bhattacharjee was Chief Minister of West Bengal from 2002 to 2011.
The other significant Opposition name in the Padma Bhushan list is Congress' Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The other Padma awardees range from politicians to soldiers, and business leaders to sportspersons.
General Bipin Rawat, India's first Chief of Defence Staff who died in a chopper crash last month, has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Kalyan Singh, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has also been posthumously honoured with the Padma Vibhushan.
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella have been conferred with the Padma Bhushan.
Vaccine firm Bharat Biotech chairman Krishna Ella, co-founder Suchitra Ella, and Serum Institute of India managing director Cyrus Poonawalla have been awarded the Padma Bhushan.
Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, and Paralympics gold medalist Avani Lekhara are among the sportspersons being honoured with the Padma Shri.

Filmmakers Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor were honoured with the Padma Shri in New Delhi.
Humbled with the honour, Karan Johar posted on Instagram, that he felt extremely fortunate to receive it from the hands of honourable President Shri Ram Nath Kovind. He added, "it is a momumental day for me, my mother, my kids and my company, and will forever be etched in my memory."
