The meeting of the INDIA bloc scheduled for December 6 has been postponed after leaders of several major Opposition parties decided to give it a miss.

In a major setback for the Opposition, a meeting of the INDIA bloc that was scheduled to be held on December 6 has been postponed.
This comes after leaders of multiple Opposition parties expressed their unwillingness to attend the meeting.
Among those who decided to skip the meet are Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
On multiple occasions in the past, reports of differences between the parties have surfaced.&nbsp;

MVA leaders will talk to the state government on issues of logistics and security for the visiting leaders, including Congress' Rahul Gandhi, he said.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) will host the third meeting of the opposition bloc INDIA in Mumbai on August 31-September 1, party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters after a Maha Vikas Aghadi meeting in this connection, Raut said Thackeray will host visiting opposition leaders, including five chief ministers, for dinner on August 31.
The two-day deliberations, which will be held at Grand Hyatt in the suburbs, will begin in the evening of August 31 and from 10 am on September 1. The meeting will be followed by a press conference, Raut informed.
MVA leaders will talk to the state government on issues of logistics and security for the visiting leaders, including Congress' Rahul Gandhi, he said.
"The MVA leaders who met today resolved to ensure the INDIA meeting is a success on the lines of the ones in Patna and Bengaluru. We have assigned responsibilities to each of the leaders for preparations of the two-day meeting," Raut said.
Among those who were present for Saturday's meeting were NCP founder Sharad Pawar, his party's state unit chief Jayant Patil and national working president Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray and colleagues Subhash Desai and Raut, Congress leaders and former chief ministers Prithviraj Chavan and Ashok Chavan, Congress Legislature Party chief Balasaheb Thorat, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar and Congress state unit chief Nana Patole.

The opposition leaders may also discuss the issue of EVM and suggest reforms to the Election Commission, the sources said.

Top leaders of 26 opposition parties are expected to attend the two-day brainstorming session in Bengaluru from Monday where they are likely to start work on a common minimum programme and announce a joint agitational plan to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
According to sources, the leaders are likely to hold discussions on issuing a joint declaration and move forward on their proposal of putting up common opposition candidates in a majority of the Lok Sabha seats.
The agenda for the talks would be finalised during discussions before a dinner meeting on Monday evening, they said.
There is a proposal to set up a subcommittee for drafting a common minimum programme and communication points for the Opposition alliance for the 2024 general elections, the sources said.
Besides, the sources said, the plan is also to set up a subcommittee for chalking out the joint programme of parties that includes rallies, conventions and agitations.
A plan to discuss the process for deciding seat sharing on a state-to-state basis is also on the table.&nbsp;
The opposition leaders also plan to suggest a name for the alliance.

The Aam Aadmi Party leaders will not attend the second meeting of the Opposition parties scheduled for July 17 and 18, Indian Express said quoting party sources.
The development comes after the first meeting held in Patna did not end on a note the way AAP had hoped for, as its leaders engaged in a heated argument with the Congress over the Delhi Ordinance issue.&nbsp;
An internal discord erupted between AAP and Congress after the latter did not extend support to Aam Aadmi Party for its fight against the Centre on Delhi Ordinance.&nbsp;
Quoting a senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Indian Express said, Congress had promised to clear its stand on the issue after the first meeting in Patna, however, it is yet to make a decision.&nbsp;
Notably, leaders of 24 opposition parties have been invited for the second unity meeting being convened by the Congress next week in Bengaluru, which would see them further strategise plans to take on the BJP in the next Lok Sabha polls.
Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi is also expected to attend a dinner on July 17 where leaders of these parties will be present.
