Earlier, the govt had notified an 8-member high-level committee to be headed by former president Kovind to make recommendations at the earliest on the issue of holding simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, municipalities and panchayats.

The first official meeting of the 'One Nation One Election' committee which was formed to examine the policy, is set to take place on September 23, India Today reported on Saturday.
Interestingly, the first meeting follows the conclusion of the five-day Special Session of the Parliament which is scheduled from September 18- September 22. While the government has released the agenda for both houses of the Parliament to be addressed during the special session, the opposition has expressed apprehension that the government may have undisclosed plans.&nbsp;
