Ola Electric Mobility on Friday said it has rolled out the first Roadster X motorcycle from its Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
The electric bike is set to hit the road this month.
"The Roadster X series represents our commitment to taking the EV revolution to the next level. Today's rollout celebrates not just a new product, but a new era for us and the industry, as it represents the next phase of revolution in electric mobility," Ola Electric Chairman and MD Bhavish Aggarwal said in a statement.
The Roadster X Series comes with a mid-drive motor that boosts performance and safety.
Its also features a chain drive and an integrated MCU for efficient torque transfer, providing better acceleration, and improved range.
The Roadster X series also features flat cables in the motorcycles -- an industry-first innovation.
These cables improve packaging efficiency, reduce weight, and enhance thermal performance, improving overall durability and reliability.
The Roadster X series offers a breakthrough in motorcycle technology and comes with first-in-segment patented brake-by-wire technology with single ABS, and smart MoveOS 5 features such as advanced regeneration, cruise control, and reverse mode.
The battery system of the Roadster X series gets an IP67 waterproof and dust-proof certification, advanced wire bonding technology, and a serviceable Battery Management System (BMS) enabling easy maintenance.
Prices of Roadster X series are Rs 84,999, Rs 94,999 and Rs 1,04,999 for the Roadster X 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 4.5 kWh, respectively.
Roadster X+ 4.5kWh is priced at Rs 1,14,999, while Roadster X+ 9.1kWh (with 4680 Bharat Cell) that offers a range of 501 km/charge, is priced at Rs 1,84,999.

In collaboration with government backed Open Network for Digital Commerce, Bhavish Agarwal led Ola is all set to launch grocery delivery platform over the next few days, reported Moneycontrol.
As per the report, Ola has also become the second biggest buyer-side platform after Magicpin in the food category. The ride-hailing app has clocked in 15,000-20,000 food orders per day, capturing almost a third of the demand in key markets like Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru.
"Ola enables more than 30 percent of ONDC food orders in Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR, in its efforts to capture significant market share of the online food ecosystem in the immediate term. Further, it is also leveraging its core expertise in the logistics domain by offering EV-based logistics services at a highly competitive price to smaller sellers on the ONDC network," a person aware of the developments told Moneycontrol.
<h3>Grocery delivery by Ola</h3>
Meanwhile, grocery delivery is not a new domain for Ola. As per Moneycontrol, ride-hailing startup Ola launched a standalone online grocery store in Bengaluru in July 2015. Prior to that in March, Ola had launched a food delivery app via which its cabs and drivers could deliver groceries between 9 am and 11 pm. However, nine months later, it shut both Ola Store and Ola Foods without going into detail.
Again in 2021, Ola ventured into online grocery delivery again through Ola Dash and launched its services across Mumbai and Bangalore with almost 15 dark stores. A year later, Ola shut down Ola Dash and suspended operations of all its dark stores.
Finally Ola joined ONDC last year to provide food delivery services.
"Our partnership with ONDC is going strong, and we have been able to achieve an incredible 10X growth in the last few months alone. We will continue to leverage the ONDC platform to explore and unlock opportunities for our next phase of growth," an Ola spokesperson told Moneycontrol.

ONDC is estimated to cross 10 million transactions &mdash; including mobility and retail &mdash; for the first time in June, representing a 5x growth year-on-year. In May, the network has hit a fresh peak of 5 million retail orders as compared to 3.59 million in the previous month. As per Moneycontrol, the government-backed network also saw an all-time high of 200,000 retail transactions in a single day during the month

Ola Cabs CEO Hemant Bakshi has resigned from his position just after four months of joining the firm, reported Moneycontrol. This comes even as the company is planning a restructuring exercise that will affect at least 10% of the employees.
<h3>Layoffs by Ola Cabs</h3>
As per Moneycontrol, Bakshi's resignation comes into effect immediately. He had joined the ride-hailing firm in January to take care of day-to-day operations.&nbsp;
"With this restructuring, certain roles within the organization will be rendered redundant and could impact as much as 10% of the workforce," a source told Moneycontrol.
The report also quoted a person with the knowledge of the matter and said that Bakshi will be moving out of Ola to pursue interests and opportunities outside of the company. Bhavish Aggarwal will now be taking over the day-to-day operations.
"Ola Cabs&rsquo; CEO Hemant Bakshi would be moving out of Ola to pursue interests and opportunities outside of the company... (Bhavish) Aggarwal will be looking after day-to-day operations and there will be a new appointment soon," the source added.
This comes weeks after Ola Cabs initiated preliminary discussions with investment banks for an IPO. In the last one month, the firm has appointed Kartik Gupta as the CFO and Sidharth Shakdher as the CBO.&nbsp;

A Delhi man&rsquo;s Ola cab ride to the airport took an unexpected turn after he was allegedly assaulted by the driver while his 6-year-old son watched.
In a viral LinkedIn post, the man said the driver took an unusual route after he refused to make the payment in cash. The driver allegedly slapped the man as he tried to file a complaint with the ride sharing company. The incident prompted netizens to recall their experiences to highlight passenger safety.
Describing the altercation, the man alleged that the driver also attempted to take his bag as he stepped out of the car. &ldquo;Me and my son were standing outside, and this guy took my bag. Meanwhile when I refused to pay him and click his picture with my bag,&rdquo; Kiran Verma said in the post.
Several users came out in support of Verma on LinkedIn and advised to take police action against the driver and the cab service.
&ldquo;You need to file an FIR against Bhavish Agarwal &amp; OLA both, as my support I will never use OLA again till your case finds a justified solution, as this driver needs to be behind bars at any cost,&rdquo; a user wrote.

Ola Valuation: A fund operated by US investment major Vanguard&nbsp; has slashed Ola's parent ANI Technologies' valuation by 29% to $1.88 billion as of November 29. It's previous fair value was at $2.65 billion.
This latest fair value of $1.88 billion is 74% lower than the last valuation at which the company raised money. Fair value is an asset's sale price. The Bhavish Aggarwal-led company had last raised $139 million back in December 2021 in a funding round led by Edelweiss PE that valued Ola at $7.3 billion.
<h3>Ola's valuation</h3>
Earlier, Vanguard revised the valuation of its shareholding in the ANI Technologies by 24% from $3.5 billion, which was the value as of May 31 last year.&nbsp;
On January 10, ET reported that ANI Technologies narrowed its standalone loss by 65% to Rs 1,082 crore in fiscal 2023. The firm had incurred a standalone net loss of Rs 3,082 crore in FY22, according to the company&rsquo;s partial financial results shared on its website. The ride-hailing platform&rsquo;s sales jumped 63% to Rs 1,987 crore from Rs 1,220 crore.

Ola Cabs&rsquo; new chief executive officer Hemant Bakshi had said that fleet-wide electrification, and premiumisation will drive growth for the ride-hailing company going ahead. He further added that, the firm's EBITDA in FY23 turned profitable.&nbsp;
ANI Technologies holds 4.35% stake in Ola Electric which is set for an Initial Public Offering with a valuation of $7-8 billion.
<h3>Valuation Revision</h3>
Along with Ola many other Indian consumer internet companies have seen their valuations being revised by US investors in recent weeks. Funds managed by financial services giant Fidelity reduced the valuation of Meesho and Pine Labs last month.
Meanwhile, Invesco had increased the valuation of food delivery platform Swiggy by 9% to $8.5 billion. Crossover funds holding stake in both publicly traded and privately held companies, periodically review the valuation of their portfolio companies.

Ride-hailing company Ola Mobility plans to deploy 10,000 electric two-wheelers across three cities in the next two months and gradually scale up its service across the country by the end of year.
The company on Friday announced the launch of e-bike service in Delhi and Hyderabad.
In September 2023, Ola had launched a pilot project of e-bike service in Bangalore.
"In line with the company's vision and growth strategy of serving 1 billion Indians and nationwide penetration with electrification, Ola plans to deploy 10,000 e-vehicles over the next 2 months across these (Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore) cities," the company said in a statement.
With the deployment of these vehicles, Ola claims to have the largest EV 2W fleet in the country.
The company will scale up the e-Bike services throughout India by the end of this year, the statement added.
The company will offer Ola e-bike service at prices starting at Rs 25 for 5 kilometer (km), Rs 50 for 10 km, Rs 75 for 15 km, the Ola eBike service will be the most affordable, sustainable, and convenient solution to commute within the cities.
Ola Mobility, CEO, Hemant Bakshi said electrification is the biggest lever to unlock affordability in the mobility space.
He said that the Bangalore e-Bike taxi pilot by the company has proven its sustainable value proposition for the consumer (lower price), the driver (higher earnings), and Ola (new category and revenues), and now the company is looking at mass deployments across Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.
To date, Ola claims to have accomplished more than 1.75 million rides.
Ola has also set up 200 charging stations in Bangalore to service its ebike fleet.
The company announced a growth strategy focussed on ride-hailing, financial services, logistics, and e-commerce.

The company in October raised Rs 3,200 crore through a mix of equity and debt. The Times of India report also mentioned that a major part of this fund would be used in the setting up of EV manufacturing unit and battery unit at its Tamil Nadu gigafactory. This factory which aims at decarbonising the environment by manufacturing electric vehicle is expected to be operational by 2024.
<h3>Ola sales target cut</h3>
Ola Electric has slashed its sales goals for 2023-2025 by more than half and delayed its target of achieving profits by a year. This after, e-scooter prices went up as the government incentives were reduced.
The revenue target is also cut down to $591 million from the earlier goal of $1.55 billion. Before the cut in incentive, Ola which was a loss-making entity was expecting a profit $220 million in the ongoing 2023-24 fiscal year. However, as per the reversed target, the company is expected to record an operating loss of $92 million this year, and a profit of $111 million next year.
Ola will sell 900,000 units in 2024-25 and 2.3 million units in 2025-26, the new document showed. Those targets are 60% and 21% lower than earlier estimates when incentives were in place.

The Karnataka government is gearing up to introduce its own mobile app that will serve as a platform to aggregate autorickshaws and taxis, akin to popular services like Ola and Uber.
According to a recent report by The Times of India, Transport Minister R Ramalinga Reddy disclosed the government's plans after holding a series of crucial meetings with representatives from various transportation sectors, including autos, taxis, contract and stage carriage vehicle owners, tourist operators, and private bus operators. As part of the initiative, Minister Reddy also unveiled plans to collaborate with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to establish auto stands at all metro stations. This move is aimed at enhancing accessibility and convenience for both commuters and vehicle operators.
The decision to create a government-backed app comes in response to concerns raised by representatives about existing cab aggregators imposing hefty commissions on rides, which significantly reduces the drivers' earnings. Minister Reddy cited an example where an aggregator charged a passenger ₹800 for a trip, but the driver received only ₹400, highlighting the need for an app that safeguards the interests of drivers and the public.
Addressing potential concerns, Minister Reddy stated, "I do not see any problems with the government launching an app. We will have a clear plan in a week."
In addition to this initiative, taxi and auto unions have urged the government to impose a ban on bike taxi services offered by Rapido and Uber.
 Interestingly, last year, the Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU) in Bengaluru took matters into their own hands and launched their app called Namma Yatri. The app quickly gained popularity among the city's auto commuters and was introduced to compete with existing apps such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido.
It is worth mentioning that the neighboring state, Kerala, attempted a similar venture in 2022 with the 'Kerala Savari' app. However, it failed to gain traction, and the Karnataka government's efforts might pave the way for a more successful implementation.
With this new initiative on the horizon, commuters and drivers alike are optimistic about a platform that could potentially revolutionize the transportation landscape in Karnataka, ensuring fairer earnings for drivers and better services for passengers. As the government sets its plan in motion, citizens eagerly await the launch of the innovative cab aggregator app, hoping for a seamless travel experience across the state.

Ola has extended the Rs 1.1 lakh price offer on Ola S1 Air electric scooter to all beyond reservers. This comes as the electric vehicle maker saw a rise in demand. Initially the scooter was available at ₹ 1.09 lakh&nbsp; for those who booked before July 28 and the price was set at ₹1,19,999 for purchases made from 31 July. Now, the ₹ 1.1 lakh offer will be applicable for everyone who have reserved after July 28. 
Ola Electric Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal tweeted that the demand for S1 Air has crossed expectations of the company as many customers are asking the company to open the ₹1.1 lakh offer to all beyond reservers.

The offer will be available from 8PM on Monday till 15th August 12PM. Aggarwal has also said that all the stores will be open till midnight today. Currently, The Ola S1 Air is currently available for ₹1.09 lakh for those who have made prior bookings. Others will have to pay an additional ₹10,000. Ola is also giving pre-approved loans with an annual interest of 12% for purchasing the latest ola model.

The delivery of the scooters is expected to start in early August. The scooter that provides a certified range of 125 km on a single charge comes with three riding modes&mdash;Eco, Normal, and Sport. The scooter can reach a top speed of 90 kmph and is available in six colour variants.

"As a leader of the industry we remain committed to putting our customers first. Therefore, setting aside the technicalities and as an example for others to follow, we have decided to reimburse the charger fund to all eligible customers," it stated.
This move will not only demonstrate the company's commitment to the EV revolution but also serve to strengthen trust and add more value for the customers, the company noted.
Ola did not provide the details regarding the amount it planned to reimburse.
Earlier reports, citing government officials, had pegged the amount to be around Rs 130 crore.
On Wednesday, TVS Motor Company announced that it will refund around Rs 20 crore as a goodwill benefit scheme to customers who have paid over and above the threshold limit fixed under the FAME scheme.
Last week, the government sent notices to Okinawa Autotech and Hero Electric for debarment from the FAME-II Scheme and sought the recovery of incentives claimed since FY20 after the two companies were found to be violating localisation norms under the scheme.
Based on anonymous emails, the government has recently re-opened audits for 2020 and 2021 where all companies were importing certain components which weren't manufactured in India.
The FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &amp;) Electric Vehicles in India) scheme commenced on April 1, 2019, for a period of three years, which was further extended for a period of two years up to March 31, 2024.
The total outlay for FAME Scheme Phase II is Rs 10,000 crore. The scheme is exclusively for public and commercial transport in the segments of electric three-wheelers (e-3W), electric four-wheelers (e-4W), and electric buses.&nbsp;

Ola layoffs: Cab aggregator platform Ola, which is planning to launch its IPO this year has laid off employees, calling it a restructuring exercise.&nbsp;&nbsp; Though the company did not disclose the number of employees affected but a report by Inc42 said around 200 may have been handed pink slips as part of the exercise.
&ldquo;We regularly conduct restructuring exercises to improve efficiencies, and there are roles which are now redundant. We will continue making new hires in engineering and design including senior talent in our key priority areas,&rdquo; an Ola spokesperson said.&nbsp;
The layoffs have impacted employees in various verticals including Ola Cabs, Ola Electric, and Ola Financial Services sectors. This is not the first time Ola has let go of its staff. In 2022, the taxi aggregator let off about 1100 workers.
The Bhavish Aggarwal-run company has nearly 1,100 employees in its core ride-hailing business.

Ola, Uber drivers fret over 5 pc convenience fee on each autorickshaw ride

The Karnataka government on November 25 directed the regional transport authorities to charge five per cent convenience fee and GST from the ride hailing companies on each autorickshaw ride by the passengers.

The Ola Uber Drivers and Owners&rsquo; Association (OUDOA) and the autorickshaw drivers linked with the ride-hailing companies are apprehensive about the five per cent convenience fee and Goods and Services Tax levied on every autorickshaw ride taken up by passengers.
The Karnataka government on November 25 directed the regional transport authorities to charge five per cent convenience fee and GST from the ride hailing companies on each autorickshaw ride by the passengers.
OUDOA president Tanveer Pasha blamed the state government for not presenting the case properly before the Karnataka High Court.
The government should have brought an amendment to the Karnataka On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators' Rules because there is no provision for autorickshaw in it, Pasha told PTI.
"If they (transport department) had given proper information to the court, then the court would have directed the government to bring an amendment to the rule," he said.
Pasha also alleged that the transport department did not take on board the Regional Transport Authority, Bengaluru Urban district, whose chairman is the deputy commissioner of Bengaluru Urban district while passing the direction.
In the existing scheme of things, the charge for every kilometre while riding an autorickshaw is Rs 15. Adding the five per cent convenience fee with GST on per kilometre ride in Bengaluru would cost about 80 paise, Pasha was apprehensive that the aggregators may find ways to increase it.
The minimum charge fixed by the government for autorickshaw rides is Rs 30 and the per kilometre fare above that is Rs 15.
Thimmappa, an autorickshaw driver, said the fixed fares on the face of it do not appear to be exorbitant but it is difficult to predict how these companies would charge people.
"These Ola-Uber companies were charging exorbitantly due to which the government had to intervene. We don&rsquo;t know how they will use this latest order to burn a hole in the pockets," Thimmappa said.
Venkatesh N, another autorickshaw driver, said only time will tell how the rates will be fixed on each ride and how people are charged.
A public relations team member of Ola Cabs declined to comment on the five per cent convenience fee.

Bloomberg said it interviewed over two dozen present and former Ola employees, who chose to remain anonymous fearing reprisal.

The department on Monday launched its drive against the aggregator-linked auto-rickshaw services. They penalised a few drivers associated with the ride-hailing companies.
At the demonstration, a large number of drivers parked their vehicles and raised slogans.
Meanwhile, the aggregators continued to show auto-rickshaw services on their mobile applications. They declined to comment on the government notice.
The Transport Department officials, too, remained tight-lipped on why these companies were showing auto-rickshaw services on their applications and not paying heed to the government order.

According to reports, centralising operations and undertaking a restructuring exercise to minimise redundancy is the reason behind the layoff.&nbsp;
The news comes after Ola Electric and several other Electric two-wheeler makers are facing scrutiny over EV fire incidents in the country.
From 12,691 scooters sold in April, the company's sales have been declining every month.&nbsp;
