The Chinese Army soldier caught on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh was carrying an empty pen drive, a mobile phone and a sleeping bag with him, according to an ANI report. The Chinese soldier also had his military identification document when he was taken into custody by the Indian troops near the Demchok area of Ladakh on October 19. The Chinese soldier was thoroughly checked and questioned by Indian military authorities as per the established protocols before being handed over to the Chinese at a border personnel meeting at Chushul. Indian Army had earlier said that the PLA trooper was 'provided medical assistance including oxygen, food and warm clothes to protect him from the vagaries of extreme altitude and harsh climatic conditions'.

The test was carried out at 6:45 am at the Pokhran field firing ranges in Rajasthan. News agency ANI shared a picture of the target hit by the Nag missile during the final trial. The shoulder launched four kilometre range missile with Imaging Infra red seeker will now be inducted in Indian Army. The Nag trial comes after the DRDO tested the helicopter launched Stand-off Anti-Tank Missile (SANT) with beyond 10 km range on October 19.

UP schools to reopen from Oct 19 for classes 9 to 12

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced reopening of schools from October 19. The schools situated outside containment zones will reopen after remaining shut for over six months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The govt has said that in the first phase classes 9 to 12 will start and schools will be run in two shifts to ensure student safety. Social distancing and proper sanitisation of premises will have to be followed by schools, the state has said. It further stated that a maximum of 50 per cent students should be called in a day and remaining 50 per cent the following day. Students will only be allowed to attend classes after furnishing written permission from their parents or guardians, the government said.
