Three people have been arrested in connection with the last month's alleged harassment of nuns in UP's Jhansi, police said on Friday. Two nuns and two postulants were taken off an express train and detained for questioning by the railway police in Jhansi on March 19 after local Bajrang Dal activists complained that two women were allegedly being taken forcibly for religious conversion. After the issue came to light last month, police had said there was no basis in the complaint by the Bajrang Dal activists and all four women took the next train to their destination in Odisha.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the last month's alleged harassment of nuns in UP's Jhansi, police said on Friday. Kneeling before the military forces, Sister Ann Rose Nu Tawng pleaded to a group of heavily armed officers to spare the lives of the protesters and shoot her instead. The image of the Catholic nun in a simple white habit, her hands spread, pleading with the armed officers as they prepared to open fire on protesters has gone viral and has won her praise for her fearlessness in confronting the security forces.'I knelt down, begging them not to shoot and torture the children, but to shoot me and kill me instead,' Sister Ann Rose told AFP reporters.Her act of bravery in the city of Myitkyina comes amidst mass protests in Myanmar since the military seized control on February 1 and detained elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi with other political leaders.
