After holding deliberations with CIA Chief William Burns, NSA Ajit Doval on Wednesday held talks with his Russian counterpart Gen Nikolay Patrushev to reduce any possible security threat from the Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.
Doval and Patrushev reportedly discussed the security implications of the Taliban's capture of power for India, Russia and the Central Asian region given the strong presence of some of the terror groups including Jaish-e-Muhammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Afghnistan.
Further, attention was paid to intensifying joint work by "special services and military bodies" of both the countries and emphasis was laid on more interaction on the &lsquo;anti-terrorist track, PTI reported quoting sources.
Earlier, on Tuesday the CIA chief held talks with Doval and a number of senior officials of the National Security Secretariat. Burns and the UK's Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) Richard Moore were among a number of key intelligence and security officials to visit India over the last few days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at a time when security concerns are rising following the&nbsp;drone attack at Air Force station.
The meeting is being held a day after Rajnath Singh concluded his two-day visit to Ladakh.
In a major security concern, a drone attack was carried out on the Jammu Air Force station in the early hours of Sunday. Explosives were dropped on the IAF station in Jammu by two drones. The case has been handed over to the NIA.

During the meeting of national security chiefs in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe, NSA Ajit Doval proposed an action plan against Pakistan-based terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) as part of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) framework
Doval also said that there is a need to monitor new technologies used by terrorists, including drones, for smuggling of weapons and misuse of dark Web, artificial intelligence, blockchain and social media.
He said that perpetrators of terrorism including cross-border terror attacks should be expeditiously brought to justice.
The NSA emphasised on the need for targeted sanctions against UN-designated terrorist individuals and entities.
