Republican party's presidential hopeful Nikki Haley lost to 'None of These Candidates' at the primary in Nevada on February 6.

US President Joe Biden won the Democratic presidential primary in Nevada on Tuesday, whereas in the Republican party Indian American Nikki Haley faced an embarrassing defeat at the hands of &ldquo;None of These Candidates.&rdquo; The two-term former governor of South Carolina, Haley, 51, was the only candidate on the ballot for Republican presidential primaries organized by the State of Nevada, which is organising both primaries.
But the Republican party is holding its caucus on Thursday, the results of which would be used to allocate the 26 delegates from the State for the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin in July.
Haley&rsquo;s rival and former US President Donald Trump is the only candidate on the ballot for Tuesday's caucus. Trump is expected to win the caucus. However, US media described the results of the Nevada primaries as a major embarrassment for Haley. Trump immediately pounced on his rival's defeat.
&ldquo;A bad night for Nikki Haley. Losing by almost 30 points in Nevada to &lsquo;None of These Candidates.&rsquo; Watch, she&rsquo;ll soon claim Victory!&rdquo; Trump posted on Truth Social. Trump and Haley are fighting each other in the South Carolina primary on February 24, which pollsters say would decide the fate of the Republican presidential race, which is heavily tilted in favour of Trump.
Haley&rsquo;s campaign, however, took the Nevada defeat lightly and decried Trump&rsquo;s comments.
&ldquo;Even Donald Trump knows that when you play penny slots the house wins. We didn&rsquo;t bother to play a game rigged for Trump. We&rsquo;re full steam ahead in South Carolina and beyond,&rdquo; her campaign spokesperson Olivia Perez Cubas said.
As per poll results, more than 63 per cent of the voters opted for &ldquo;None of These Candidates" while Haley got only 31 per cent. With this Haley became the first presidential candidate to lose a race to &ldquo;none of these candidates&rdquo; after it was introduced in Nevada in 1975.
Meanwhile, Biden won the Nevada primary of the Democratic party with virtually no opposition. He received nearly 90 per cent of the votes.
&ldquo;I want to thank the voters of Nevada for sending me and Kamala Harris to the White House four years ago, and for setting us one step further on that same path again tonight. We must organize, mobilise, and vote. Because one day, when we look back, we&rsquo;ll be able to say, when American democracy was a risk, we saved it &mdash; together,&rdquo; Biden said in a statement Wednesday.
The Democrat's next primary is in Michigan on February 27.&nbsp;

The former UN Ambassador, who is married to Major Michael Haley, gave it back with a cheeky response by asking her suitor whether he would vote for her.
"Are you going to vote for me?" Haley asked.
However, the man turned out to be an ardent Trump supporter who responded by saying, "I'm voting for Trump."
To which Haley said, "Oh, get out of here!"

'Creepy': Trump campaign sent birdcage to Nikki Haley

In the immediate aftermath of last week&rsquo;s GOP primary debate, the Trump campaign issued a string of statements against Haley. Early Sunday, the Trump Campaign left a birdcage along with some bird food outside Haley&rsquo;s hotel room in Iowa, where she was campaigning, the former South Carolina Governor and the US ambassador to the United Nations said.
Haley also posted a picture of the birdcage and said, &ldquo;After a day of campaign, this is the message waiting for me outside my hotel room.&rdquo; &ldquo;This behaviour is weird, creepy, and desperate from a former president feeling the pressure,&rdquo; Betsy Ankney, Haley&rsquo;s campaign manager, told The New York Post in a statement.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s more proof that it&rsquo;s time to leave the drama behind. America is better than this. Let&rsquo;s go,&rdquo; she said.
Trump went on his Truth Social to attack Haley.
&ldquo;MAGA, or I, will never go for Birdbrain Nikki Haley,&rdquo; Trump wrote in a post.
&ldquo;Birdbrain doesn&rsquo;t have the TALENT or TEMPERAMENT to do the job. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!&rdquo; wrote the former president, who is seeking to get the GOP&rsquo;s presidential nomination for the third consecutive term.
She was at least arguably the winner of the first two GOP debates, no easy task for a woman dealing with a pack of shouting men, it said.
&ldquo;That&rsquo;s why the more GOP voters see of her, the more they like her. To make matters worse, Trump and his team were so proud of themselves that, like schoolkids, they came up with a harebrained plan to send a birdcage and some bird food to Haley&rsquo;s hotel room door in the middle of the night,&rdquo; the daily said.&nbsp;

In an impressive speech addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference -- the top annual event of the Republican Party and its support base -- the Indian-American politician continued with her focus on America's foreign policy, wherein she asserted that the US should not give aid to countries that hate it.
"Never in my life did I think Americans would look at the sky and see a Chinese spy balloon looking back at us. It was a national embarrassment," she said on Friday referring to the recent spy balloon incident.
The balloon, which Beijing denies was a government spy vessel, spent a week flying over the United States and Canada before being shot down off the Atlantic Coast last month.
"Make no mistake: Communist China is the strongest and most disciplined enemy we have ever faced. We need to hold China accountable. Let us start with Covid," she said.

Haley, 51, is the two-term Governor of South Carolina and the former US Ambassador to the United Nations made the statement amidst the war of words between the US and China over the recent downing of a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon over American airspace.
Addressing her enthusiastic supporters at an event here in the coastal city of South Carolina on Wednesday, Haley said: "In this America, the Armed Forces of the United States will be stronger and more capable than ever. A strong military doesn&rsquo;t start wars. A strong military prevents wars!" "We'll stand with our allies - from Israel to Ukraine - and stand up to our enemies - in Iran and Russia. And in the America I see, Communist China won't just lose. Like the Soviet Union before it, Communist China will end up on the ash heap of history!" she said, as she formally launched her 2024 presidential campaign.
Her formal declaration means she will be the first contender to join the contest against her former 76-year-old boss Donald Trump, who announced his third bid for the White House late last year.
&ldquo;Realising this vision won&rsquo;t be easy. It will take an unparalleled level of commitment from all of us. It requires faith and a willingness to move past the status quo. And it will require doing some things we&rsquo;ve never done&hellip;,&rdquo; she said, as she took potshots at US President Joe Biden's "weak leadership, adding America will not win the fight for the 21st Century if it trusts politicians from the 20th Century.
Biden, a Democrat, has not yet indicated if he will seek re-election. Biden, 80, is the oldest sitting US president.
"China&rsquo;s dictators want to cover the world in communist tyranny. And we&rsquo;re the only ones who can stop them. But let me be clear. We won't win the fight for the 21st Century if we keep trusting politicians from the 20th Century. America is on a path of doubt, division, and self-destruction. A path of fading patriotism and weakening power," Haley said.
&ldquo;Russia started the biggest war in Europe in 75 years. And in Communist China, we face the strongest and most disciplined enemy in history. It is unthinkable that Americans would look at the sky and see a Chinese spy balloon looking back at us,&rdquo; she added.
American officials have said that search crews have recovered from the Atlantic Ocean the sensors from a suspected Chinese spy balloon shot down over the US earlier this month.
Search crews found "significant debris from the site, including all of the priority sensor and electronics pieces identified", said the US Northern Command.
The FBI is examining the items, which the US said were used to spy on sensitive military sites. The US has shot down three more objects since the first on February 4.
Before entering the presidential ballot, Haley has to win the Republican Party's presidential primary which will start in January next year.
The next US presidential election is scheduled to be held on November 5, 2024.
Haley was born to Sikh parents Ajit Singh Randhawa and Raj Kaur Randhawa, who had emigrated from Punjab to Canada and then to the US in the 1960s.&nbsp;

"It&rsquo;s time for a new generation of leadership &ndash; to rediscover fiscal responsibility, secure our border, and strengthen our country, our pride and our purpose. Some people look at America and see vulnerability. The socialist left sees an opportunity to rewrite history,&rdquo; she said.
Identifying herself as proud daughter of Indian immigrants, Haley talks about growing up in Bamberg, South Carolina and how it shaped her belief in a strong and proud America.
&ldquo;We turned away from fear toward God and the values that still make our country the freest and greatest in the world. We must turn in that direction again,&rdquo; she said.
Casting herself as a younger, fresher alternative to Trump, Haley had been hinting at a White House bid for weeks.

During the Trump administration, Haley feuded at times with other White House officials while bolstering her own public persona. Her 2018 departure fuelled speculation that she would challenge Trump in 2020, or replace Vice President Mike Pence on the ticket, but Haley did neither.

Late last year, during a visit to her alma mater, Haley told an audience at Clemson University that she would be "taking the holidays" to consider a run. Asked recently why she is now considering a run in spite of her 2021 comments, Haley told Fox News "a lot has changed," referencing, among other things, US economic troubles. She went on to say she felt she could be part of "new generational change," an indirect reference to Trump's advanced age.
