Nepal authorities have announced temporary measures to facilitate foreign nationals stranded in the country due to the ongoing curfew in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to Immigration officials, international travellers whose visas were valid through September 8 can now obtain exit permits and regularise their visas without paying additional fees, The Himalayan Times reported on Friday.
The facility will be available both at immigration offices and at departure points.
Authorities have also put in place arrangements for visa transfers in cases where visitors lost their passports during the disturbances.
Travellers carrying emergency passports or other travel documents issued by their respective embassies will have their visas transferred to the new documents under existing rules, ensuring a smooth departure from Nepal, the officials said.
A prohibitory order is in place in Kathmandu from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. A curfew order will come into effect from 7:00 pm Friday to 6:00 am Saturday and remain in place throughout the night.&nbsp;

Stations, beats and units damaged in the student-led unrest are gradually reopening, and Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel have reappeared on streets and around posts across the Valley, the Kathmandu Valley Police Office said.
Dozens of police stations across the Valley were vandalised and damaged, though the exact number is yet to be confirmed.
&ldquo;Exact data on such incidents is not yet available," SSP Shekhar Khanal, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office at Ranipokhari, was quoted as saying by MyRepublica news portal.
Khanal said police personnel are returning to their posts and resuming work with whatever facilities are available.
Locals are also helping rebuild the vandalised police stations in several areas of the Valley, he said, adding that community leaders have also urged the public to assist in repair and cleanup efforts.
Many police personnel had sought shelter in army barracks after coming under attack from protesters. The Nepali Army later assumed responsibility for national security to restore order.
Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli quit on Tuesday shortly after hundreds of agitators entered his office demanding his resignation for the death of at least 19 people in police action during Monday's protests over corruption and a social media ban. The ban on social media was lifted Monday night.
The violence continued even after Oli's resignation, with protesters setting fire to the Parliament, the President's Office, the PM's residence, government buildings, political parties' offices and homes of senior leaders.
According to the Ministry of Health, the number of people killed so far during the protests held on Monday and Tuesday has risen to 34.

The bus service operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) that runs between Delhi and Kathmandu has been stuck in Nepal due to the ongoing turmoil in the neighbouring country, officials said.
"The bus is stuck in Nepal. The Delhi government is coordinating with the embassies of Nepal and India in the matter," an official said on Thursday.
The student-led 'Gen Z' protests in Nepal that began against a government ban on social media expanded into a larger campaign reflecting growing public criticism of the K P Sharma Oli dispensation and the country's political elite over alleged corruption and apathy towards the people.
Prime Minister Oli resigned in the face of the protests, even as the ban on social media was lifted late on Monday night.
Another official confirmed that the bus service was suspended on Wednesday in the wake of these events.
This service, known as the Delhi-Kathmandu Maitri Bus Sewa, symbolises the strong ties between India and Nepal and remains a popular choice for travellers.
The bus covers a distance of 1,167 kilometres, with a fare of Rs 2,800. It operates six days a week, with DTC buses running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and Nepal's Manjushree Yatayat buses running on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
DTC deploys Volvo buses for the route, while Manjushree Yatayat uses Marco Polo buses.
According to the DTC website, the journey includes designated halts at Firozabad, Faizabad, Mugling and Sonauli (the India-Nepal border) for customs checks. Passengers are not allowed to disembark or board at other locations along the route.
Indian and Nepalese citizens are required to carry valid government-issued photo identification, such as a passport or voter ID card, while nationals of other countries need to present a valid passport and visa.
The service was launched on November 25, 2014, from the Dr Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal in Delhi, featuring air-conditioned buses with a 2x2 seating arrangement.
Operations were halted on March 23, 2020, due to the first wave of the pandemic, but resumed in December 2021.
Currently, only diesel-powered buses operate on this route as no CNG or electric buses are available yet.

Even as the troops continued to guard the streets, the situation remained mostly peaceful in the rest of the country except for two deaths and over a dozen injuries in Nepal army gunfire in a thwarted escape from a prison southeast of Kathmandu.
The curfew order imposed in three districts of Kathmandu valley -- Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur &ndash; was relieved from 6 am, a notice by Nepal Army said.
After allowing a few hours for movement to the general public to carry out essential works, the restrictive orders will be in place from 10 am till 5 pm, the notice issued by the army.
After a relaxation from 5 pm to 7 pm, night curfew will follow from 7 pm till 6 am on Friday, it added.
People were seen rushing to the markets, shops and groceries to buy essential goods as soon as the curfew was lifted. There were few vehicles on the roads which still bore marks of the violence that had erupted since Sunday and resulted in the resignation of prime minister Oli on Tuesday.
The curfew was imposed by the army since 5 pm on Wednesday to maintain law and order and the Nepalese troops on Wednesday patrolled the streets to restore order and to quell possible violence &ldquo;under the guise of agitation.&rdquo; The army, which took control of security from Tuesday night after incidents of arson and vandalism across the country, warned that any form of demonstrations, vandalism, arson, or attacks on individuals and property would be treated as criminal acts and dealt with accordingly.
The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu resumed services from Wednesday evening, 24 hours after closing its operations due to violent protests.
Meanwhile, two persons died and more than a dozen inmates were injured when army troops opened fire on Thursday morning to stop a mass breakout from Ramechhap District Prison, local media reports said.
As on Wednesday, at least five juvenile inmates died during a clash with security personnel at a jail in western Nepal, while more than 7,000 prisoners escaped from different jails across the country during the violent anti-government protests.
The death toll from the violent protests led by the 'Gen Z' group since Sunday evening had increased to 30, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the ministry said 1,061 people were injured. It said 719 of the injured have been discharged, while 274 have been admitted to the hospital.
Sources said there has still been no decision taken about who among the former chief justice Sushila Karki, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah and former electricity board CEO Kulman Ghising would be finalised by the protesting Gen Z group to lead an interim government.
However, on Thursday morning, sources said, instead of Ghising, another name, Harka Sampang, mayor of Dharan Municipality, was being considered along with Karki and Shah.&nbsp;

In a public notice, the airport officials said the closure is due to the ongoing critical situation and urged passengers and stakeholders to await further updates.
Earlier, the TIA had announced a temporary closure until 6 pm Wednesday, but operations have now been halted without a reopening timeline, news portal Khabarhub said.

HAN said that it has been coordinating with Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal Army for necessary management and facilitation of tourists. It also issued a hotline contact number 9851031495 for accommodation facilities to the stranded tourists.
On Tuesday night, the Nepal Army took control of the airport after the agitators tried to enter its premises.
Air India, which operates six flights a day between New Delhi and Kathmandu, on Tuesday cancelled four flights. IndiGo and Nepal Airlines also cancelled their flights from Delhi to Kathmandu.&nbsp;

The restrictive orders are in effect throughout the country from morning to 5 pm, and then a curfew will be in place until 6 am on Thursday, the army said in a statement.
The measures were necessitated to curb possible incidents of looting, arson, and other destructive activities "under the guise of agitation", it said.
The army, which took control of nationwide security operations at 10 pm on Tuesday, warned that any form of demonstrations, vandalism, arson, or attacks on individuals and property during the restrictive period would be treated as criminal acts and dealt with accordingly.
"There are also possible threats of rape and violent attacks against individuals," the statement said.

The student-led "Gen Z" protests in Nepal that began against a government ban on social media expanded into a larger campaign reflecting growing public criticism of the KP Sharma Oli dispensation and the country's political elite over alleged corruption and apathy towards the common people.
Prime Minister Oli resigned in the face of massive protests for a second day, even as the ban on social media was lifted late on Monday night. The demonstrators stormed many government buildings and set the parliament as well as homes of several high-profile leaders ablaze, a day after 19 people died in violence.
Against this backdrop, Nepali students in India are living in anxiety.
A master's student at Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) said he had cancelled his plans to travel home, which is near Kathmandu, for the Dussehra festival.
"I was looking forward to being with my family, but they have advised me to stay back in Delhi until the situation there stabilises," he said.
Manoj Chaudhary from Nepal's Birgunj, pursuing MBA at IIT-Dhanbad, said the situation in his hometown was calmer compared to the capital. Still, he has suspended his plans to visit home.
"I was planning to visit Nepal soon, but now all my plans are on hold. My family is safe, but I am worried about Kathmandu, where buildings have been set on fire and students have lost their lives. That should never have happened. I only hope peace returns quickly," he said.
Another Delhi University student said her immediate parents and siblings live with her in Delhi, but her grandparents and extended relatives are in Nepal.
"I am deeply worried about them. Every day we hear news of protests turning violent, and it is painful not knowing how safe they are," she said.
A first-year DU student said the reports of deaths and destruction had shaken him. "I never thought students would be killed for raising their voice. It feels like the country is being torn apart." "I used to ask friends here to visit Nepal for its beauty, but now I feel sad about what is happening," he said, adding that he calls his family every few hours to check on their safety.
A PhD scholar at the South Asian University, who earlier studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University, said the unrest had left her disturbed even though her family lives in a rural area, which is relatively safe.
"When your country suffers, you feel helpless sitting far away. The violence was tragic, but I hope the protests open the way for something positive," she said.
Another DU student said he had deferred his trip home indefinitely.
"I was supposed to see my parents later this month, but I can't take that risk now. All I do is wait for messages from family and friends, hoping they are safe," he said.
India advised its citizens to defer travelling to Nepal until the condition stabilises.&nbsp;

Nepal reeled under a serious political crisis on Tuesday as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned in the face of massive anti-government protests with the demonstrators attacking private residences of several high-profile leaders, headquarters of political parties and even vandalising the parliament, a day after 19 people died in police action against the agitators.
The students-led protests appeared to reflect the growing public anger with the Oli dispensation over a range of issues including a ban on social media and inaction against alleged corruption as the protesters, defying curfews and heavy deployment of security forces, resorted to arson and stormed various key buildings and establishments.
Hours before Oli's resignation, the protesters set on fire the Nepalese leader's private house in Balkot, and attacked properties of President Ramchandra Paudel, former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Communication minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, former home minister Ramesh Lekhak and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The intensity of the protests that began on Monday against the government's ban on social media sites grew on Tuesday with demonstrators taking out anti-government marches in all leading cities and towns.
Flight services at Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu have been partially suspended in view of the protests.
With the situation deteriorating rapidly, the top brass of Nepali Army and other security agencies issued a joint appeal calling for restraint and resolution of the crisis through dialogue.
"As the prime minister's resignation has already been accepted by the president, we call upon all to restrain and not to allow more loss to life and property in this difficult situation," they said.
"A peaceful resolution through dialogue is the only way to restore order and stability,&rdquo; they said in a joint statement.
The statement was signed by Nepal Army chief Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, Home Secretary Gokarna Dawadi, Chief of Armed Police Force (APF) Raju Aryal, Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung and Chief of National Investigation Department Hutraj Thapa.
Oli stepped down shortly after hundreds of agitators entered his office shouting slogans demanding his ouster for the death of at least 19 people in police action during the protests on Monday as well as for his alleged "inaction" against widespread corruption.
In his resignation letter to President &nbsp;Ramchandra Paudel, the 73-year-old Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist&ndash;Leninist) cited the "extraordinary circumstances" facing Nepal and said he is quitting to pave the way for a "constitutional and political" resolution of the current situation.
Oli, known to be close to China, had become the prime minister in July 2024 for the fourth time with the support from the Nepali Congress Party. He was scheduled to visit India this month.
Though the Nepal government last night revoked its ban on social media websites following the protests led by 'Gen Z' youths, the agitators continued their demonstration against corruption and demanding accountability for deaths of 19 people.
The agitators under the banner of Gen Z, shouted slogans such as "KP Chor, Desh Chhod" (KP thief, leave the country) and "Take Action Against Corrupt Leaders".
Protesters also torched the residence of former home minister Ramesh Lekhak at Naikap in Kathmandu, just a day after he resigned from his post, according to officials.
Demonstrations were reported from Kalanki, Kalimati, Tahachal, and Baneshwor in Kathmandu, as well as Chyasal, Chapagau, and Thecho areas of Lalitpur district. Protesters, mostly students, chanted slogans such as &ldquo;Don&rsquo;t kill students&rdquo;, defying the restrictions on public gatherings.
In Kalanki, demonstrators burnt tyres to block roads from the early hours of the morning, according to eyewitness accounts.
The agitating youths also pelted stones at the residence of Communication Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung in Sunakothi at Lalitpur district, eye witnesses said. Gurung had ordered a ban on the social media sites.
They also vandalised former PM Sher Bahadur Deuba's house at Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu.
The Gen Z group, which has been campaigning against corruption for some time, has used social media platforms like Reddit and Instagram to expose what they called the "extravagant lifestyles of the children of ministers and other influential figures." They have posted videos and images, questioning the sources of wealth that fund such opulence, purportedly derived from corrupt practices.
The ban of social media sites was an attempt to suppress freedom of speech, the agitators said.
The Nepalese government had ordered the ban of 26 social media sites, including Facebook and &lsquo;X&rsquo;, over their failure to register with the government.
However, in a late-night development on Monday, the government announced the restoration of access to social media platforms, in an apparent bid to ease public anger.
Among the other demands of the protesters include guarantee for freedom of expression, and the introduction of a retirement age for those holding political office, according to Gen Z activists.
Nepal Army has also issued a separate statement expressing its commitment to protect the country's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and national unity.
"We are analysing the latest developments of the Gen Z movement being launched in Nepal in the recent period," it said.&nbsp;

Nepal Army appeals for restraint as protests turn violent after PM Oli&rsquo;s resignation, with key leaders&rsquo; homes and offices set ablaze.

The Nepali Army and chiefs of other security agencies issued a joint appeal on Tuesday, urging protesters to restrain and resolve the crisis through dialogue.
"As the Prime Minister's resignation has already been accepted by the president, we call upon all to restrain and not to allow more loss to life and property in this difficult situation,&rdquo; they said.
They also called upon all concerned parties to find a peaceful solution to the problem through political dialogue.
"A peaceful resolution through dialogue is the only way to restore order and stability,&rdquo; the joint statement said.
Those who signed the statement included Nepal Army chief Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief Secretary of Nepal Government Ek Narayan Aryal, Home Secretary Gokarna Dawadi, Chief of Armed Police Force (APF) Raju Aryal, Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung and Chief of National Investigation Department Hutraj Thapa.
The appeal came as protesters set fire to the parliament, Singha Durbar premises, Supreme Court, political party offices, and homes of senior leaders.
In a separate statement, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balen Shah, urged everyone to remain calm. His statement came soon after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced his resignation.
He also asked everyone to be ready to hold talks with the Army chief, but stressed that Parliament must be dissolved first.
&ldquo;We had made it clear from the beginning &mdash; this is purely a Gen-Z movement. Dear Gen-Z, the resignation of your oppressor has already come. Now, please remain calm,&rdquo; he said in a social media post.
The agitating youths burnt the house belonging to former prime minister and Nepali Congress chief Sher Bahadur Deuba situated at Budhanilkantha in the east of Kathmandu.
A video has gone viral on social media showing protesters capturing Deuba and his wife, Arzu Rarna, the former foreign minister, from their residence. They sustained minor injuries in the scuffle.
The agitators also set fire to the Hilton Hotel, a five-star property situated in Kathmandu. Deuba's son Jaybir is believed to have a major share in the hotel. They have also vandalised Ullens School in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, owned by Arzu.
The situation has become tense as the agitators were seen capturing various government offices and vandalising them. The security personnel have become almost spectators.
Prime Minister Oli stepped down on Tuesday shortly after hundreds of agitators entered his office shouting slogans demanding his resignation for the death of at least 19 people in police action during the protests on Monday, officials said.
