A teenage girl and two other persons were injured after a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites went off in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday evening when the three persons, residents of Dhangol village under Madded police station limits, had gone to a nearby forest to collect mushrooms, a police official said.
They inadvertently came in contact with the pressure IED, which exploded causing injuries to their legs and faces, he said.
The three persons -- identified as Chidem Kanhaiya (24), Korse Santosh (26) and Kavita Kudiam (16) -- were shifted to Bijapur district hospital, he said.
Naxalites often plant IEDs on dirt tracks to target security personnel, who use such routes during anti-Naxal operations inside forests.
Civilians have fallen prey to such traps laid by Naxalities in the past in the Bastar region, which includes Bijapur district.&nbsp;

Two commandos of CRPF's CoBRA unit were injured when a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites went off in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Thursday, police said.
The incident occurred in the wee hours in Basaguda police station area when a joint team of security forces was out on an area domination operation, a senior police official said.
Personnel belonging to the 229th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 206th battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), an elite jungle warfare unit of CRPF, were involved in the operation, he said.
As per preliminary information, the personnel inadvertently came in contact with the pressure IED, triggering the blast and causing injuries to two of them, the official said.
The injured constables, Mridul Barman and Mohd Ishaq, of the CoBRA 206th battalion, were evacuated and shifted to Basaguda CRPF camp where they were provided preliminary treatment, the official said, adding the duo was reported to be out of danger.
They have been referred to a hospital in state capital Raipur for further medication, he said.
Maoists often plant IEDs along the road and dirt tracks in forests to target security personnel during patrolling in the interior pockets of Bastar region, which comprises seven districts including Bijapur.
Civilians have also fallen prey to such traps laid by ultras in the past in the region.
On January 12, a 10-year-old girl was injured in Sukma district and two policemen suffered wounds in Bijapur district in similar incidents of IED blasts.
On January 11, a CRPF jawan received injuries in a similar incident in Bijapur.
On January 10, a villager was killed and three others were injured in two such incidents in Orchha area of the state's Narayanpur district.
On January 6, Naxalites blew up a vehicle with an IED in Bijapur district, killing eight police personnel and their civilian driver.&nbsp;

A day after eight police personnel and a civilian driver were killed in a blast in Bijapur, security forces on Tuesday recovered a 10 kg improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said.
A team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and district police found the explosive device near Belpochcha village on the Konta-Golapalli road, an official said.
He said during a de-mining exercise on the route, security personnel spotted the IED planted beneath the road and averted a major mishap.
The explosive has been neutralised, he added.
Naxalites on Monday blew up the security personnel's vehicle using a 60-70 kg IED near Ambeli village under the Kutru police station area in Bijapur district.
Eight security personnel, four each from the state police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters units, travelling in the SUV and the vehicle's driver died on the spot.

A vehicle carrying security personnel was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district.&nbsp;

Eight jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and a civilian driver were killed after Naxals blew up their vehicle with a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Monday, police said.
This was the biggest strike by Maoists on security forces in the state in the last two years and the first assault in 2025.
Maoists detonated the IED near Ambeli village under Kutru police station area at around 2.15 pm when DRG personnel from Dantewada district were returning in their Scorpio vehicle after an anti-Naxalite operation, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P said.
All eight DRG jawans travelling in the SUV and the driver of the vehicle were killed on the spot, the official added.
The DRG is a unit of the state police and its personnel are mostly recruited from local tribal population and also from surrendered Naxalites.
Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and the bodies of the deceased were being evacuated, he said.
A search operation has been launched in the area by security forces, the IPS officer informed.
These DRG personnel were involved in an anti-Naxalite operation carried out for three days on the borders of Narayanpur, Dantewada and Bijapur districts by joint teams of security personnel, the IG said.
Five Naxalites were killed in the three-day-long operation and one DRG head constable also lost his life, he said.
After the operation, DRG personnel from Dantewada were returning to their base in the vehicle when the attack occurred in Kutru area, Sundarraj added.
The last site is around 400 km from state capital Raipur. Visuals from the spot showed a huge crater, more than 10-feet deep, splitting the concrete road after the blast.
The vehicle was completely destroyed in the explosion while dismembered bodies were seen placed on plastic sheets. A part of the vehicle was seen hanging on a nearby tree.
Expressing grief over the death of DRG personnel and the civilian driver, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said Naxalites are frustrated with the ongoing counter-insurgency operation in the Bastar region and therefore, have resorted to such cowardly acts.
Martyrdom of jawans will not go in vain, he asserted.
"The news of the martyrdom of 8 jawans and a driver in an IED blast carried out by Naxalites in Kutru of Bijapur district is extremely sad. My condolences are with the families of the martyrs. I pray to God to rest the souls of the martyred soldiers in peace and provide strength to the bereaved families," Sai said in a statement.
"Naxalites are frustrated with the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in Bastar and have committed such cowardly act out of frustration. The martyrdom of the soldiers will not go in vain. Our fight to end the menace will continue strongly," he added.
In the past, numerous attacks have taken place on security forces in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, comprising seven districts including Dantewada, using IEDs.
In the last major assault, ten police personnel and a civilian driver were killed after Naxals blew up their vehicle, part of a convoy carrying security personnel in neighbouring Dantewada district, on April 26, 2023.

The clash occurred around 3 a.m. in the dense forests of south Abujhmaad during an anti-Naxalite operation carried out by a joint team of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to counter Naxalite insurgency in the region.
Security forces, including personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bastar, and Kondagaon districts, alongside CRPF teams, were involved in the operation.
Once the firefight subsided, the bodies of seven Naxalites, all wearing uniforms, were recovered. Authorities have continued search operations in the area to ensure all Naxalite elements are neutralized.

The spurt of violence comes just three days before Bastar goes to polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections.

As many as 29 Naxalites killed in encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Tuesday, police said.
Three security personnel suffered injuries in the fierce gun-battle and a large quantity of weapons was also recovered from the spot, they said.
The gunfight took place at around 2 pm in Hapatola forest between Binagunda and Koronar villages under Chhotebethiya police station limits, when a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the state's District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, a senior police official said.
"As per preliminary information, at least eight Naxalites were gunned down in the encounter. A huge cache of weapons was recovered from the spot," he informed.
The three security personnel injured in the gunfight were being shifted to a hospital for treatment, the official said.
Kanker lies over 150 km from Bastar, which goes to polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 19.
Election authorities on Tuesday started moving polling personnel in helicopters to the Naxal-dominant area. Electronic voting machines (EVMs) have also been dispatched amid tight security.
