Union Home Minister Amit Shah has pledged to eliminate Naxalism from India by March 2026, following the tragic loss of eight DRG jawans and a civilian driver in a deadly IED attack in Chhattisgarh&rsquo;s Bijapur district.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday vowed to eliminate Naxals from the country by March 2026 and asserted that the sacrifice of those killed by the extremists in Chhattisgarh will not go in vain.
Shah's comments came after eight jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and a civilian driver were killed after Naxals blew up their vehicle with a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of DRG soldiers in an IED blast in Bijapur (Chhattisgarh). I express my deepest condolences to the families of the brave soldiers.
"It is impossible to express this grief in words, but I assure you that the sacrifice of our soldiers will not go in vain. We will end Naxalism in India by March 2026," he said in a post on 'X' in Hindi.
This was the biggest strike by Maoists on security forces in the state in the last two years and the first assault in 2025.

Ten police personnel and a driver were killed after Naxals blew up the vehicle in which they were travelling in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Wednesday.

According to a report by NDTV, a powerful 50-kg improvised explosive device was used by Naxals.
The report added that the officers of the District Reserve Guard, who were on an anti-naxal operation, were travelling in a rented van. The vehicle that offered no ballistic protection may have been flung as far as 20 feet due to the blast, the NDTV report said.&nbsp;

In one of the longest encounters in the history of Gadchiroli, security forces gunned down at 26 Maoists in the dense forests of the Maharashtra district.
Reports said the fierce encounter ensued at around 6pm and ended at 4pm with police saying C-60 commandos of the Gadchiroli police carried out the operation.
Four policemen were also injured in the encounter and were taken to Nagpur for treatment.
