Most political pundits may have thought that there were no surprises left&nbsp;in the ongoing&nbsp;churn in the Punjab Congress, but maverick Navjot Singh Sidhu yet again played a wildcard.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Less than five weeks after taking charge as Punjab Congress chief, Sidhu left the post&nbsp;leaving many in the political circles wondering.&nbsp; The Hindustan Times noted in a report that the former cricketer, who is considered close to the Gandhi family,&nbsp;may have quit over appointment of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa as deputy chief minister.&nbsp;Randhawa,&nbsp;a prominent Jat Sikh face, is a known rival of Sidhu, who harbours chief ministerial ambitions.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Most reports also state that Sidhu, who joined the Congress after quitting BJP,&nbsp;is&nbsp;dismayed after&nbsp;had&nbsp;a limited say in the&nbsp;Charanjit Singh Channi government formation. That Sidhu was snubbed by the high command has also been reported.&nbsp; &nbsp; Another reason that&nbsp;has come to the&nbsp;fore is&nbsp;Channi ignoring his advice&nbsp;over the&nbsp;appointment of&nbsp;police chief&nbsp;and advocate general of Punjab.&nbsp;

As per report in the Hindustan Times, a series of behind-the-scenes events could be possible reasons why Sidhu may have given up the post.
Appointment of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, a prominent Jat Sikh face, as deputy chief minister might have upset Sidhu as he might have seen it as a threat to his chief ministerial ambitions.
He is also believed to be riled over a limited say in the cabinet formation of the newly-appointed Channi government with his recommendations being put down by party high command.
Another reason that would have put the last nail in the coffin might be that of CM Channi ignoring his advice regarding appointment of DGP and advocate general of Punjab.
