The Navi Mumbai police have registered a case against two 24-year-old men for allowing a woman to perform &lsquo;aura farming&rsquo;, a new global craze among youngsters, on the bonnet of a moving car, an official said on Friday.
The stunt was allegedly performed on a Mercedes-Benz car on a busy road in the Kharghar area on July 20, and its video went viral on social media.
The accused, Alfesh Azam Sheikh and Rafique Sulde, do not have a valid driving licence, the official said.
The viral video shows a young woman standing on the bonnet of the moving car and performing &lsquo;aura farming', which refers to the act of deliberately doing &ldquo;cool&rdquo; or &ldquo;stylish&rdquo; things. Aura framing has spread like wildfire after an Indonesian boy wowed the internet with his smooth, dramatic poses.
&ldquo;Such reckless acts not only endanger the lives of those involved but also create a sense of fear and alarm among the general public,&rdquo; the official said.
Sheikh and Sulde have been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections concerning rash driving, negligent conduct with respect to machinery, endangering life or personal safety of others, and attempt to commit culpable homicide.
Provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act have also been invoked in the case, the official added.
On Thursday, police had booked five persons, including three women, for allegedly performing a dangerous stunt in a moving car in Mumbai's Malad area.

A 56-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly masterminding a multi-crore housing scam in Navi Mumbai that duped thousands of investors in the national capital with false promises of land, high returns and fake government approvals, an official on Friday said.
The accused, identified as Dattatray Ganpati Mohite, was caught from Maharashtra&rsquo;s Raigad, he said.
The officer said that Mohite, who carried a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was wanted in four separate cases registered with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and one case with Amar Colony Police Station.
&ldquo;Mohite was the mastermind behind a massive real estate scam involving a fictitious housing scheme named 'Pragati Valley Project' at Karjat, Navi Mumbai. He, along with associates, allegedly lured thousands of Delhi investors to put money into a non-existent project through false promises of land ownership, high returns and fake government approvals,&rdquo; said Additional Commissioner of Police (CP), Crime, Sanjay Kumar Sain.
The accused and his firm, Pragati Land &amp; Housing Corporation, in conspiracy with more than 70 fake estate companies launched an aggressive marketing campaign using forged brochures, pre-launch offers and fabricated documents, he added.
The victims were induced to invest via cheques and cash, amounting to over Rs 20 crore, police said.
&ldquo;Investigations later revealed that the company did not own any land, had no government registration or approvals and abruptly shut down operations by 2010 following which the accused and his associates absconded,&rdquo; the Additional CP said.
All cases pertain to offences under relevant sections of the IPC relating to cheating, forgery, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy, police said.
The proclaimed offender status was declared between 2018 and 2019 by the courts in Rohini and southeast districts of Delhi, they said.
A police team conducted surveillance and groundwork over several days even posing as local contractors to gather actionable intelligence, officials said.
The team traced Mohite to the jurisdiction of Karjat Police Station in Raigad, they said.
A coordinated raid was conducted earlier on Wednesday, resulting in Mohite's arrest, police said.
He was produced before a local court in Raigad and a transit remand was obtained for his production before the competent court in Delhi, they said.
Further investigation is on to identify the wider network of accomplices and to recover assets procured through the fraudulent scheme, police said.

The Navi Mumbai police have registered a case against an unidentified person for allegedly repeatedly raping and impregnating a 17-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh, an official said on Sunday.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl's brother, the police on Saturday registered a case under section 376 (rape) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
The assault came to light when the girl, who was visiting her brother at Kopar Khairane in Navi Mumbai, went to a hospital where it was found that she was 34 weeks pregnant, the official said.
As per the complaint, the teenager, a resident of a village in Siddharthnagar of Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly raped by a man several times sometime before April, he said.
The Navi Mumbai police have transferred the case to Siddharthnagar police station for further probe, the official said.

Cop arrested for allegedly molesting IIT student in Navi Mumbai

A police constable has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 19-year-old woman student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, police said on Saturday.

As per the woman's complaint, she arrived in Sanpada area from the IIT campus in Powai in Mumbai late Thursday night to meet a male classmate.
After strolling on Palm Beach Road, they decided to return to IIT by taking the first local train of the day at 4.08 am, and to kill time by roaming in the area till then.
A police team in a patrolling vehicle questioned them around 3 am and left when they showed their ID cards and explained why they were there.
A constable arrived on a two-wheeler a few minutes later and started questioning them, the complaint said.

He allegedly asked the male student to sit on the motorcycle and leave the woman behind, but the latter refused.
When he asked the woman to sit on the two-wheeler and she too declined, the police constable allegedly molested her, and tried to force her to accept the ride.
A car driver on the road stopped his vehicle and came to their help.
The constable was then taken to Sanpada police station where the woman lodged a complaint.
After she and her friend returned to the IIT, a First Information Report under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the constable.
The FIR was transferred to Sanpada police station following which the constable was arrested.
The accused's blood samples were collected to check if he was under the influence of alcohol, the official said, adding that further probe is on.
