&nbsp;India's indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA-Navy) on Monday landed onboard aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, in a feat described as a historical milestone by the Navy.
The Navy said naval pilots carried out the landing.
"A Historical milestone achieved towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat by Indian Navy as naval pilots carry out landing of LCA (Navy) onboard INS Vikrant," the Navy said in a brief statement.
It said the landing demonstrated India's capability to design, develop, construct and operate indigenous aircraft carrier with indigenous fighter aircraft.
In September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned India's first indigenously-built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant (IAC I) that made the country part of an elite group of nations capable of manufacturing aircraft carriers above 40,000 tonnes category.
The Navy had said the aircraft carrier would be able to play a role in ensuring peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

In the final leg of his Europe trip, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in France and met President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders met with a warm hug before proceeding for discussions at the Elysee palace.

Indian Navy’s First Women “Observers” on Warships

Marking a landmark moment in the history of the Indian naval aviation, two women officers have been awarded &ldquo;Wings&rdquo; at INS Garuda on graduating as &ldquo;Observers&rdquo; in the helicopter stream. Sub Lieutenant (SLt) Kumudini Tyagi and SLt Riti Singh would be the first women airborne combatants who would be operating from warships. Observers, also referred to as Airborne Tacticians, act as airborne coordinators of maritime warfare and operate various state-of-the-art equipment including sonics, radars, sonars and communication equipment, informed SLt. Tyagi. &nbsp;&ldquo;We have only completed our basic training to be qualified as Observers in the Indian Navy. We have flown for 60 hours on the Dornier aircraft (fixed wing). We will be studying 8-9 months more for our helicopter training,&rdquo; added SLt. Singh. Previously, entry of women was confined to the fixed wing aircraft that took off and landed ashore. Women have been employed in different ranks in Indian Navy but never before have they been posted on warships.
