Indians spend almost 9 hours of their free time sleeping: study

A first-of-its kind survey done on Indians answers questions about what a typical 24-hour day looks like.&nbsp;
The main aim of the survey conducted by the&nbsp;National Statistical office was to assess the&nbsp;paid and&nbsp;unpaid activities both in rural and urban areas.
The results will help in policy assessment across various departments. The survey showed that in rural areas, males aged 6 years and older, spent an average of&nbsp;9.2 hours in sleep and &ldquo;related activities&rdquo;.&nbsp;While females spent&nbsp;557 minutes sleeping.
In urban areas, males spent 534 minutes in sleep and females spent&nbsp;552 minutes sleeping and in other related activities.&nbsp;
The survey was conducted between January and December of 2019.

Literacy rate: Kerala on top, Delhi 2nd, Andhra worst

With 96.2%, Kerala has once again retained its place as the most literate state in India, followed by national capital Delhi at 89%. Andhra is worst with 66.4% literacy

Kerala has retained its top spot in the literacy rate ranking in India. The southern state has a 96.2% literacy rate and is followed by Delhi at 89%, the data from a report on education released by the National Statistical Office revealed. While southern states are commonly assumed to be better in literacy, Andhra Pradesh has turned out to be an outlier. The state ranks lowest in all states with just 66.4% literacy. This is much lower than the national average of 77.7%. Not only that, it also fares badly in comparison to poor and backwards states such as Bihar and UP. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand and Assam are on No. 3 and 4 with 87.6% and 85.9% respectively.
