Published in the journal Sleep Health, the researchers, looked at data of over 35,000 participants in the British Biobank survey.
A meta-analysis of 54 research reports from 2002 to 2020 found that 'afternoon naps have a small to medium benefit over multiple cognitive tests'.&nbsp;
In fact, organisations including Nike and Google let employees take a daytime snooze to increase their creativity at work.
The study authors also concluded that daytime naps between 30 and 60 minutes have a moderate to high effect on athletes, improving cognitive as well as physical performance.

Well, here's some good news. Recently, nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar shared benefits of a post-lunch nap and the best time and position for it.
According to her an afternoon nap improves heart health and is best for people with high BP and those dealing with heart health. It improves hormonal balance, digestion, sleep cycle and fat loss.
She suggests that the right time for an afternoon nap is after lunch, in the foetal position on your left side for around 10-30 minutes between 1-3 pm.

'Wakefit Solutions', a Bengaluru-based startup, took to Twitter and made a big announcement for its employees by saying "right to nap" an official nap during an office hour. The decision was taken by keeping the mental health of employees in mind.
As per the company's new initiative employees can take an afternoon nap from 2 to 2:30 pm. The calendars of the employees will be blocked during this time and will be designated as “Official Nap Time".
Not only this but the company is also planning to come up with "cozy nap pods" and “quiet rooms" within the office to provide a “perfect nap environment" for the employees said the co-founder, Chaitanya Ramalingegowda in an internal mail which was sent to all employees.
Chaitanya cited NASA and Harvard studies and said that a short nap in the afternoon helps in enhancing the performance.

Published in the&nbsp;International Journal of Scientific Research, the study of 68 volunteers found that a power nap enhances&nbsp;cognition and it is especially helpful in improving&nbsp;calculative ability or execution of skillful tasks like driving.

In the study, participants were asked to solve the number game Sudoku. When&nbsp;people got stuck at a certain difficulty level, the test group was allowed to take a nap for one hour while the other group&nbsp;got a wakeful rest.&nbsp;Out of the 37 who stayed awake, 6 were able to solve the&nbsp;puzzle whereas out of the 31 who slept,&nbsp;as many as 16 accomplished the task.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The study&rsquo;s lead author explains that while napping at work gets a bad rep, their findings show that&nbsp;power naps offer some&nbsp;potential usefulness&nbsp;in boosting&nbsp;cognitive performance.
