Actor-filmmaker Nandita Das is sadly missing the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival this year. Taking to social media, she shared a few throwback pictures from the event and penned a lengthy note emphasising how Cannes is a festival of films and not of clothes.
She wrote, &lsquo;Sadly missing Cannes this year. Sometimes people seem to forget that it is a festival of films and not of clothes! Considering I can&rsquo;t show you the amazing films I watched or the conversations I have had or take you back in time when Manto premiered there. Here are a few images through the years in Cannes. And only the ones in Saris as there is a fair amount of chatter about the &lsquo;celebrities who wore saris in Cannes&rsquo;. Well it is surely my go-to garment. Simple, elegant and Indian. Least fussy - easy to get in and get out of it!&rsquo;
She added, &lsquo;Each of the images have an interesting story behind it but too long to share. So feel free to make up your own story from the photos you see. And guess the year they are from - 2005, 20013, 2016-2018.&rsquo;

&lsquo;Zwigato&rsquo;, directed by Nandita Das and starring&nbsp;Kapil Sharma, is all set to premiere in India at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala on December 10.&nbsp;

&lsquo;Zwigato&rsquo;, directed by Nandita Das and starring Kapil Sharma, will be premiered in India at the 27th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), the makers informed on Thursday. The film has been a part of international cinema events such as the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival. The film has been chosen as the opening film in the Kaleidoscope section of the festival on December 10 and it will again be screened on 13th December.

'Zwigato' features Kapil Sharma as a former floor manager at a factory but due to the pandemic he loses his job and opts to work as a food delivery person exploring the world of ratings and algorithms. Shahana Goswami plays his wife, a homemaker, who starts working to support his income. Set in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the film is about ordinary people and the struggles they go through in their daily lives.
Earlier, Nandita in an interview revealed the reason for choosing comedian Kapil Sharma as the lead role. She said, &lsquo;The film attempts to make visible what&rsquo;s hidden in plain sight. And for this, the cast and crew has serendipitously come together. One day, Kapil Sharma popped up on my screen! I hadn&rsquo;t seen his show, but I could see him wholly representing the &lsquo;common man&rsquo;, despite not being one anymore.&rsquo;
The 27th International Film Festival of Kerala will take place from December 9th to 16th in Trivandrum, Kerala. &nbsp;&nbsp;
