Three months ago, National Anti-Doping Agency officials showed up at a Delhi state meet race at the Jawahralal Nehru Stadium. Upon seeing them, racers meant to participate took off, barring one. The athlete ran alone, claiming he had nothing to hide. And now, The Indian Express has reported that the lone sprinter in question has also returned a positive on a drug test. The report states that the test was conducted on September 26, the day of the race. Lalit Kumar, the racer, tested positive for anabolic steroid drostanolone metabolite, a performance-enhancing drug. However, The Indian Express also quoted Kumar denying the allegations, 'Agar maine dope liya hota toh mai final me aata hi nahi. (Had I taken any performance-enhancing drugs, I would have fled like the rest). I have never taken any drugs&hellip; I feel some coaches are involved in framing me.' The athlete went on to say that he cannot afford another test to prove his innocence and neither does he have any proof to present to the anti-doping agency.

Tokyo Olympian and 2021 Asian Championships bronze medallist wrestler Seema Bisla has been handed one-year ban by the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) of the NADA for "whereabouts failure".
The ADDP passed the order of banning the 30-year-old Seema on July 21.
Her ban period began on May 12 this year, according to the latest list of athletes sanctioned by the ADDP, put up by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) in its website.
Seema had won a bronze in women's freestyle 50kg class in the 2021 Asian Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She lost in the 50kg round of 16 bout in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
There are two types of whereabouts failures -- filing failures and missed tests. It is, however, not known about the nature of Seema's whereabouts failures -- whether filing failures or missed tests or combination of both.

Babu has time till March 6 to file an appeal against the ban after receiving the ban notice from NADA's Appeal Panel on February 13.

The 25-year-athlete was dropped from the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022 after testing positive for Ostarine, a steroid on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) prohibited list.
She was tested during the National Inter-State Championships on June 13 and 14 last year in Chennai, where she had won Gold. Having been provisionally suspended in July last year, Babu has already served six months of her four-year ban.
