In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab in a joint operation with Faridkot Police has arrested two associates of foreign-based gangster Arsh Dala, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday.
Those arrested have been identified as Vishal Singh, a resident of Sri Muktsar Sahib and Onkar Singh, a resident of village Gamewala in Ferozepur. Police teams have also recovered two .30 bore pistols along with six live cartridges from their possession.
&nbsp;DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation revealed that the accused Vishal Singh, who came out on bail recently, was actively planning to eliminate his rival gang member. The accused was continuously in touch with his foreign based handlers and waiting for the directions to execute sensational crime in Punjab, he said.
The DGP said that further investigation is underway to identify other associates and establish backward and forward linkages in this case.
Sharing operation details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban said that the teams of the AGTF led by DSP Rajan Parminder based human and intel-inputs located the accused persons in the jurisdiction of Faridkot, and in a joint operation with Faridkot Police has arrested both the accused from near Dana Mandi chownk in Sadiq and recovered weapons from their possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Pragya Jain said that both the arrested persons have a criminal background with cases pertaining to attempt to murder, cheating, under Arms Act, etc. have been registered against them.
&nbsp;A case FIR no. 52 dated 21/5/2025 has been registered under section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Sadiq in Faridkot.

Kishan Kumar Singh, who has been living in the Cincinnati area in Ohio on a student visa since 2024, was arrested on Thursday on charges of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses and exploitation of a disabled or elderly adult.
Guilford County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office (GCSO) said in a statement that its deputies were contacted by the victim, who reported that she was getting phone calls from people claiming to be deputies with the GCSO as well as federal agents.
The victim from Stokesdale in North Carolina was told by callers that her bank accounts were compromised and was pressured into withdrawing a large amount of money for &ldquo;safekeeping.&rdquo; Deputies arrested Singh when he showed up to collect the package as a "federal agent", the statement said.
The callers told the woman that her name had been linked to criminal activity in another part of the country.
Singh is now in the Guilford County Detention Centre under a USD 1 million bond.

The marine police station in Odisha's Paradip detained two persons for supplying goods to foreign ships anchored in deep sea without customs clearance, an officer said on Monday.
The goods are generally supplied to foreign ships after getting clearance from the customs department officials posted at Paradip Port.
However, some people using small boats were taking these materials to foreign ships anchored in the deep sea without getting customs clearance, thus incurring revenue loss for the country, said Paradip Marine Police Station in-charge officer Babita Dehuri.
The personnel of the marine police station on Sunday nabbed two people and seized some materials that were being transported to mid-sea through a small jetty. Goods, including large quantities of industrial pipes and motors, were being secretly loaded onto fishing boats and delivered mid-sea to the ships, the police said.

A proclaimed offender on the run for the past 16 years in a kidnapping case was nabbed from east Delhi's Sabzi Mandi area, police said on Friday.
At the time of his arrest, Safdar Ali, 57, was hawking vegetables in a local market.
In April 2009, Safdar Ali allegedly abducted Kalicharan, a resident of Prem Ka Gakaan village in Delhi, after he married his sister Shama.
Kalicharan called his mother and told her he had been kidnapped and taken to Bisauli in Uttar Pradesh.
Police launched a hunt for Kalicharan and arrested one Agar Ali. Safdar Ali remained out of bounds and was declared a proclaimed offender in 2012 by a court.
Since then, he kept shuttling between Delhi and Bareilly till a tip-off led to his arrest on Thursday.
He was tracked down to the Sabzi Mandi area in Mulla Colony, where he sold vegetables.
He said he had been working as a daily wage laborer and at times a vegetable seller.
Safdar Ali confessed to kidnapping Kalicharan and was also found involved in another criminal case registered in Bareilly, police said.
