The boy's mother filed a complaint with the suburban Vakola police station on Tuesday, accusing the school officials of harassing her two sons, the 12-year-old who is studying in Std 8th and his younger brother.
The family could not pay the annual fees of Rs 7,500 for her 12-year-old son due to some financial problems, the woman told the police.
Her husband was a tuberculosis patient and could not work, she said.
For the last four months, the boy was being made to sit outside the classroom as he had not paid the fees for the current academic year, the woman alleged in the complaint.

Mumbai temp hits 39.4 degrees Celsius, highest in country for second time in March: IMD

The Santacruz observatory and the Colaba observatory recorded a temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius and 35.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Sunday.

For the second time in the current month, Mumbai recorded the highest maximum temperature in the country at 39.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, attributing the rise in mercury to absent or delayed wind breeze.
The IMD had warned of a heat wave for Sunday and Monday.
The Santacruz observatory and the Colaba observatory recorded a temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius and 35.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Sunday.
"This is for the second time this month that Mumbai has recorded the highest maximum temperature in the country. On March 6, Santacruz (observatory) recorded 39.1 degrees Celsius, also the highest in the country. On Sunday, it recorded 39.4 degrees Celsius," said IMD scientist Rajendra Jenamani.
He said the temperature recorded in the coastal Konkan region, which encompasses Mumbai, was 4-6 degrees Celsius above normal on March 12.
This was also observed between March 5-7 when the temperature was 5-7 degrees above normal, Jenamani added.
"Normally, Konkan witnesses low temperatures during this time because of the sea breeze at around 11.30 am to 1 pm. However, in the last seven-ten days the sea breeze is absent or delayed because of the dominant easterly winds which have resulted in high temperatures," he said, adding that the temperature should reach highest between Rajasthan and Gujarat but it is controlled due to thunderstorm cloud and favourable wind.

According to the Mumbai Police, a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 336 (whoever does any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) and Aircraft Act 1937, 22 (refuse to follow a lawful instruction given by the Pilot-in-Command), 23 (Assault and other acts endangering safety or jeopardizing good order and discipline) and 25 (for smoking).
After the flight landed, the passenger Ramkant was handed over to the Sahar police. Where he was taken into custody and booked under various sections of the IPC. The Police said that the accused is of Indian origin but a citizen of the United States of America and holds a US passport.
"We have sent the sample of the accused for medical test to confirm whether he was in an inebriated state or mentally disturbed," the police added

A 28-year-old woman and a nine-year-old girl died after an iron rod fell on the auto- rickshaw in which they were travelling from an under-construction building in suburban Jogeshwari on Saturday evening, a civic official said.

The iron rod fell from the seventh floor of the scaffolding of the 14-storey building, he said.
Shama Bano Asif Shaikh (28) and Ayat Asif Shaikh (9) were injured as it hit the rickshaw in which they were travelling. They were first rushed to a nearby trauma care hospital after a passer-by alerted the civic helpline, the official said.

The ALH Dhruv has become one of the important parts of helicopter missions undertaken by all three forces involved n different terrains they are deployed.

A 30-year-old man from the western suburb of Andheri allegedly lost more than Rs 3 lakh to unidentified persons who claimed to have posted nude videos of him on social media, police said on Monday.
The incident came to light after the cash-strapped victim approached the police on Saturday, an official said.
The victim, who works in a private firm, claimed that he received a video call from an unidentified number on WhatsApp on the night of February 22, he said.
On receiving the call, the complainant saw a naked woman, whose face was not seen, and he disconnected the call, the official said, adding that the man received three more calls on the same night.
The next day, the victim received a call from another number and the caller claimed that a nude video of him was available on YouTube and he would have to pay Rs 31,500 to remove it, he said.
Accordingly, the victim paid the caller through an online transaction. He soon received two more calls, during which the caller demanded Rs 62,500 to delete two more videos, the official said.
After making the payment, the victim was again harassed with a demand of Rs 1.51 lakh, which he borrowed from a friend. When the calls didn't stop even after shelling out Rs 3.06 lakh, the man approached the police, he said.
An offence under section 420 (cheating) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act has been registered and further probe is underway, the official added.

The altercation began in a luxury hotel in the early hours of the day after Shaw was mobbed for selfies. The cricketer obliged two persons for selfies but refused when they came back with more people. When the fans insisted, Shaw's friend called the hotel manager, who asked the group to leave.
This made them angry, and later, they allegedly attacked Shaw's friend's car with baseball bats, according to an India Today report. The friend said that the cricketer then left in another car. The accused gave chase and Shaw's friend was stopped near the Jogeshwari petrol pump, and allegedly asked to pay ₹50,000 or face a fake case.
Subsequently, the cricketer's friend approached the police, who booked 6 persons for alleged extortion and unlawful assembly.
