Karnataka reveals how much it's paying to lawyers for Maharashtra border dispute case in Supreme Court

An 18 January order by Karnataka's Law department said that it has fixed a professional fee of ₹59.9 lakhs per day for the battery of lawyers.

Amid a raging political war over the border dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra, the Karnataka government revealed the amount of money that it is paying to a battery of senior lawyers to fight the case in the Supreme Court.
An order by Karnataka's Law department said that it has fixed a professional fee of ₹59.9 lakhs per day for the team of lawyers, according to the news agency PTI. As per the January 18 order, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi will be paid ₹22 lakh per day for appearing before the apex court and Rs 5.5 lakh per day for conferences and other works.
Another lawyer Shyam Divan will be paid ₹6 lakhs a day for appearing before the court, ₹1.5 lakhs per day for preparation of the case and other works and ₹10 lakhs for outstation visits per day. The government will bear the expenses of hotel facilities and business class air travel.
The Advocate General of Karnataka will be paid ₹3 lakhs a day for appearing in the SC, ₹1.25 lakhs per day for preparing cases and other works, ₹2 lakhs on outstation visits apart from bearing the cost of hotel and business class air travels.
The state government has also hired senior lawyer Uday Holla, a former advocate general of Karnataka, who will be paid ₹2 lakhs per day for appearing in the apex court, ₹75,000 per day for preparation of the case, ₹1.5 lakhs per day for settlement of pleadings and other works, and ₹1.5 lakhs per day for outstation visits apart from hotel and travel expenses.

India's former attorney general Mukul Rohatgi&nbsp;who represented him at the Bombay High Court, has revealed how Shah Rukh had "tears of relief" as Aryan was in jail since almost a month.&nbsp;
"He (Shah Rukh Khan) has been very, very worried the last three-four days that I was there and I'm not even sure whether he had proper meals. He was just having coffee after coffee. And he was very, very worried. And I could see a big sense of relief, yeah, on the father's face last time I met him," said Mukul Rohatgi in an interview.&nbsp;
A picture of a relieved Shah Rukh with his team of lawyers had also surfaced on social media soon after Aryan's bail.&nbsp;
Aryan Khan is expected to walk out of the Arthur Road jail on Friday as the court is yet to give its operative order on the conditions imposed while granting bail.&nbsp;

The two-judge bench of justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and R Subhash Reddy said that while the matter raised by the petitioner was serious but it should be raised in front of the high court and not the Supreme Court.The justice also questioned why the petitioner did not make Anil Deshmukh a party in the case even as serious allegations were leveled against him.
Senior advocate Mukul Rahtogi, appearing for Param Bir Singh, withdrew the plea and said he will raise the matter before the high court on Wednesday itself.&nbsp;In his plea, the ex-Mumbai Police commissioner had also requested a stay on his transfer from the top post, days after an explosive-laden SUV was found outside businessman Mukesh Ambani's residence Antilia in Mumbai. ₹3,600 crore recovered from Vijay Mallya, creditors told SC

The State Bank of India-led&nbsp;consortium of banks told the Supreme Court on October 26 that around ₹3,600 crore had been recovered from fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya so far. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the SBI-led banks consortium, also informed the apex court that&nbsp;₹11,000 crore were still needed to be recovered&nbsp;from Mallya.
