Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif's recent remarks of 'doctoring' the World Cup final pitch in Ahmedabad have reignited the row that had seemed to die down.&nbsp; In an interview with Lallantop, Kaif stated that he was present for three days ahead of the ultimate game back in November and observed how the pitch was allegedly being curated to favour India.&nbsp; 'Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid inspected the pitch every day for 3 days ahead of the final. They stood beside the pitch for an hour every day. I saw the pitch change its colour. There was no watering the pitch, no grass on the track. India wanted to give Australia a slow track. This is the truth, even if people don't want to believe it,' Kaif commented.&nbsp; Admitting that India did 'a little too much', Kaif also revealed the reasons behind India trying to stay on top.&nbsp; 'The feeling was that Australia had Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc, so India wanted to give a slow pitch, and that was our mistake,' the former batter said.&nbsp; But Cummins, the Australian skipper, had learned his lesson from Chennai that batting first is difficult on a slow pitch, said Kaif.&nbsp; 'Nobody fields first in a final but Cummins did. We messed up while doctoring the pitch,' he concluded.&nbsp; After being unbeaten throughout the ODI World Cup in 2023, India were just a win away from reliving the 2011 glory. But what was supposed to be the perfect culmination for the hosts turned out to be a nightmare as the Aussies clinched their sixth World Cup title.&nbsp;

Ahead of the must-win 3rd T20I versus West Indies, former India player Mohd Kaif has come to the defence of Hardik Pandya &amp; Co, asking fans to not judge the team on two losses.&nbsp; Despite two series wins in Tests and ODIs against the Windies, India suffered a setback in the form of two consecutive losses in the 5-match T20I series.&nbsp; Indian cricket fans and experts have not held back in criticising Team India for their poor show but Mohd Kaif believes it isn't concerning.&nbsp; 'I am seeing a lot of negative reaction after the two losses. But I will only say that our team is extremely competitive. I am not going to judge (India) on two back-to-back losses (in the West Indies). The only thing is that key players are missing.'&nbsp; He went on to add that India's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action, who according to Kaif wins 50 per cent of the matches for the Indian team. He concluded with an affirmative statement, 'I think if Bumrah is in the team and a few others like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer also return, we have the players who can win the (World Cup) trophy.'&nbsp; Jasprit Bumrah returns to the field on August 18 when he will lead India in a 3-match T20I series in Ireland.&nbsp; Meanwhile, apart from updates, the BCCI has not specified a timeframe for Iyer and Rahul's return.&nbsp;

After Pakistani veteran cricketer Shoaib Malik was not considered for the World Cup squad, former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez made a big revelation.
