The vandalism by pro-Khalistan extremists at the Indian High Commission here was on Thursday raised in the House of Commons, with British MPs demanding action against "Khalistani hooligans" and the safety of India's diplomatic staff.
While Conservative Party MP Bob Blackman called for a debate in Parliament to discuss steps to ban groups behind the violence, Opposition Labour Party MP Gareth Thomas asked the Leader of the House of Commons about the steps being taken to ensure there is "no repeat of such behaviour".
The Cabinet minister addressing the Business of the House, Penny Mordaunt, responded by reiterating Foreign Secretary James Cleverly earlier statement announcing a review of the protection measures around the Indian mission.&nbsp;
"We strongly condemn the vandalism and violent acts that took place outside the Indian High Commission in London. It was a completely unacceptable action against the High Commission and its staff," Mordaunt told MPs.

Pakistan: Mob storms police station, lynch man accused of blasphemy

Residents of the area claimed that the man &mdash; who had returned after spending two years in jail &mdash; used to practice witchcraft by pasting his ex-wife's picture on holy books, Geo News reported.

A violent mob lynched a blasphemy-accused man after storming a police station in Punjab province of Pakistan on Saturday, police said.
A police officer said a mob stormed the police station at Warburton, Nankana Sahib, some 80kms from Lahore, and took custody of Waris Issa, who was arrested for alleged desecration of the holy book, stripped him naked, and dragged him in the streets before beating him to death.
Residents of the area claimed that the man &mdash; who had returned after spending two years in jail &mdash; used to practice witchcraft by pasting his ex-wife's picture on holy books, Geo News reported.
Several video clips of the incident also went viral on social media.
In one video, the mob, including young children, could be seen scaling the large gates of the police station.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered action against those involved.
He also questioned why the police failed to stop the violent mob and directed the Inspector General of police in Punjab to ensure law and order in the district.
"The rule of law should be ensured. No one should be allowed to influence the law," Sharif emphasised.
He said that the first priority of the institutions responsible for peace and order is peace and that it should always come first.
Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar suspended DSP Nankana Circle Nawaz Virk and SHO Warburton Feroze Bhatti from service.
The IGP also ordered DIGs Ameen Bukhari and Raja Faisal to reach the spot and submit a detailed report after identifying the responsible and those guilty of negligence.
"No one is allowed to take the law into his hands, no matter how influential he is, therefore strict departmental and legal action will be taken against those responsible for the incident and the perpetrators of negligence and professional misconduct," the IGP said in a statement.
In December 2021, a mob in Sialkot city of Punjab tortured a Sri Lankan man, who was working as a manager at a local factory, to death over blasphemy allegations. The incident drew widespread condemnation.
An anti-terrorism court in Lahore last year handed down the punishment to 88 suspects involved in Sri Lankan citizen Piryantha Kumara&rsquo;s lynching case. Six of them were sentenced to death.

A police station in Assam’s Nagaon district was set afire by a mob on Saturday following an alleged case of custodial death of a local resident, a top police official said.
Three of those involved in the arson were arrested and operations are on to nab the others, the official said.
The mob had set ablaze the Batadrava Police Station and several two-wheelers in the afternoon following the death of a fish trader who was allegedly detained by the police late on Friday evening when he was going to take a bus for Sivsagar.
It was not clear why he was detained.
Nagaon Superintendent of Police Leena Doley said, “Some miscreants had attacked the Batadrava Police Station in the afternoon and set it ablaze." The family members of the fish trader of Salonabori village claimed that the police had demanded Rs 10,000 and a duck as a bribe for his release, and his wife visited the police station with a duck in the morning.
When she returned with the money later, she learnt that her husband had been taken to Nagaon Civil Hospital. After reaching there, she found him dead, they claimed.
Alleging that the man died because of torture, villagers gheraoed the police station, allegedly assaulted on-duty police personnel and then torched the police station.
Videos of the incident showed a woman sprinkling some inflammable liquid on two-wheelers parked in front of the police station and setting them on fire.
The blaze engulfed the police station soon after and fire tenders later brought the flames under control.
The SP, who visited the spot after the incident, said the police are analysing all video footage available.
On the allegations that the police demanded a bribe to release the man, Doley said all the charges will be investigated and if anyone is found guilty, steps will be taken.
